Preparations at the Lodge

The latest cause the nobles seem to be interested in - and these seem to shift regularly - is the Lodge of Petrichor. A place where nobles and commoners alike can come to learn about farming, the land, animals, and everything in Petrichor's domain, it is also a place where shaman can congregate, and are often found holding strange shaman ceremonies in the grove to the north of the Lodge proper. It's an unusual place to be sure, and while people are aware of it, most people don't really know why it's being treated as such a potential problem area. And yet now people are raising money and working on defenses, and it's not hard to see the changes being done.

Under Lady Kalani Seliki, with the help of Lord Kaldur, Princess Marian, and Duke Vercyn, defenses are being shored up all over the Lodge's properties. Archery platforms, blinds, platforms for lookouts and other preparations are carefully made. All the easier to scout and see any incoming problems.

Under Marquessa Reigna Keaton, with the help of the Mother Mercy Princess Sophie, Lady Lethe, Manuela and Draven, the healers set up shop in the Lodge. Though Lagoma is the patron of the Mercies, now these healers are doing regular rounds there. They perform checkups on the Disciples, shaman, and defenders of the Lodge. They stock up supplies. They are prepared.

Lady Olivia Ashford helps in her own way too - making special balm she calls "wasp-repellent" and distributing it liberally among the various groups planning forays into the Gray Forest. Some is also stocked at the Lodge proper, among the medical supplies gathered there.

Lady Lisebet Farshaw rounds up more mundane supplies with the help of Princess Zara, Princess Isabeau, Lady Aahana and Lady Ouida. They collect resources, supplies, cots, food, water, weapons, armor, arrows - anything that might help in the defense of the Lodge, as the Compact expands its holdings further into the Gray Forest and prepares to defend what it has taken. They coordinate with military folks to make sure everything is placed in the most advantageous positions.

All in all, it looks very much like defense of the Lodge of Petrichor is something the entire Compact is ready to get behind. And if to the majority of commoners the urgency of this action isn't clear - what is obvious is that the Compact is making no half-hearted effort at its defense. What has been so carefully built is not going to be allowed to fall - or even be threatened without reprisal.
