The Festival Of Death

Posted by Tenebry on 12/24/19
The Festival of Death's been going on quite a while now. Months of events. Months of skull-themed sculping and Deathly poems and puns. Months of gingerly petting tarantulas. Months culminated by grand balls and a drum concert, the Rhythm of the Wheel, a grand thunder of drums ending in the graveyard. It's been stunning and people are talking about it, even people who might be more uneasy around Death and Her worship. Even people who would normally never set foot in a graveyard venture close enough to hear the rumble of drums. People attend the balls who might never put a skull on so much as a hankerchief. Prayers from the Death Prayerbook become more widely dispersed and repeated, and drums see a surge of popularity among young musician hopefuls. The Harlequins and the Bards College have formed an effective and exciting partnership here.

Everyone involved gets talked about. Harlequin Evaristo, Legate Aureth, and Nighingale Gianna are all notable for organizing, and for giving a spectacular drum-and-voice concert with Gianna playing the role of Death. The whisper is that the Princess Helena did a great deal of support for the whole venture, in both the background and the foreground, and Dame Ida created commemorative hairpins. The Princess Berenice hosted a joint Velenosa ball and the Countess Carita hosted a joint ball of her own, both contributing highly to this period of Deathly fashionability among the fashionable set. The Harlequin Lethe engages the crowds, and Saro plays the drums. Sister Estelle and Amantha marshall the Mercies who are fortunately called to nothing more serious than bites and strains. And Warrick and Raymesin helped ensure the festival never got too rowdy, though rumor has it the drum concert got a touch exciting.

All in all, it's a resounding success, this series of sacred parties.
