Moore's Fall

Acorn Hill, a barony revived, seems itself to have been once more the site of grisly death. It had started a three days prior, the complete disappearance of three work horses, then two more from the private stables of the Baroness and Baron Consort. On the fourth night, when the moon was heavy with luminescence, the howls shattered the barony with their keening knell.

Townspeople locked themselves up in their homes, hunkering down in corners and closets to remain hidden. Scratching, snarling, snapping, and whispers passed by windows and shadows crept distorted beneath doors. The hideous caucophany was rumored to travel all the way up the manor atop the hill. It rose to a crescendo, a mighty shout heard and all would know it to be the battle cry of Baron-Consort Rane Moore and then a curdling scream of Baroness Katherine Moore before the bestial sounds suddenly stopped to leave everything eerily calm.

The morning dawned a sorrowful scene as the Baroness and Baron-Consort along with their personal guard had been found utterly ravaged by what appeared to be animals. It was clear that Rane did not go down without a fight as massive chunks of fur and even a severed hand were left behind from those he'd fought. However, in the main hall were the picked bones of the missing horses and etched in blood still wet across the stone floor, "For Meddling" and on the wall, "Do you still want to play, Brigid?”
