Word spreads through Arx of an assassination of a highborn noble, Marquis Valerius Malespero, born Prince Valerius Thrax and the brother of both the current Grand Duchess of the Lyceum Jaenelle Velenosa and former the Lord Commander of the King's Own, Leona Thrax. Rumors claim that servants heard a crash from inside the study at the Malespero Tower, and then discovered part of the room smashed with Marquis Valerius stabbed through the heart. Guards were unable to find any sign of the attacker, and report to not knowing of anyone meeting with the Marquis, nor did they see anyone arrive or leave.
Due to his kinship with the Highlord of the Lyceum and House Thrax, many peers in the city presume it was the work of Mourning Islander traditionalists, and allies of House Helianthus, attempting to send a message.
