Calling the Banners

To the people of the Compact,
We are not strangers to conflict. We have held strong against terrible odds and fought for our peace and our land. But now, we face a threat that steals our people from us. That leaves villages in the Gray Forest empty of all life. That makes wasteland out of farmland in the Oathlands. That tried to steal Bastion from the Compact. That did destroy Artshall. This is a threat that eclipses even those battles of the past few years. We had hoped that perhaps another war could be avoided. Our people are battle-tired and weary of fighting, but this can be ignored no longer. We have suffered the attacks upon our people long enough.
As Voice of the Crown, I call the banners of the Compact once more. We will no longer allow this warlord to take anything else from us. It is time to make our stand.
Yet, as I have said, we have faced many battles over the past decade, leaving us without the force necessary to meet this army and have any hope of victory. We need allies, particularly allies that have lost and stand to lose as much as we do.
As such, myself and the leaders of the Compact have negotiated a temporary alliance with some of those who call themselves the Abandoned. We are aware of the history of conflict between our people and theirs, but if we don't fight together, there will be no land, no people, nothing to fight for by the time this is done. For survival, we must put aside our fears and prejudices to take up arms and fight to take back our world from this warlord that would steal our freedom, our Choice, even our lives from us.
This alliance will provide amnesty for those of the Abandoned to meet in designated parts of the city for the efforts of coordination and information sharing. No one is required to admit or treat with the Abandoned if they do not wish to, but I would encourage those who are wary to remember that there is nothing to fight for or against if we all die. This alliance will stand until the war is over and will be discussed further after peace is found.
We are the Compact. After the Reckoning, we found strength in unity. Let us find strength within it again, even if with the most unlikely of allies.

The warriors of House Grayson and the Crownlands, hitherto engaged in a campaign to protect the many people in the northwestern Gray Forest, are heartened to hear that they will soon be joined by the full strength of Arvum.

Despite the immense difficulty of relinquishing the harsh feelings of actions of past which brought much grief to House Laurent, we will stand, as always, with the Compact.
