In Praise of Choices

Posted by Tyrval on 12/28/23
It has come to my attention that SOME people might have the MISTAKEN assumption that I would have been upset by some recent announcement by my father, and I wish to put that RIDICULOUS notion to rest. It would silly to be upset that the regent just happened to have been a human until about ten seconds ago, and father must have had EXCELLENT reasons to recognize someone in that way just because she happened to take care of a bunch of Rex'alfar spies that anyone could have dealt with if they were given half a chance, and I certainly was about to. But I'm definitely in no way angry at -her-, and I'm sure that some people could think she really deserves it, and it's absolutely absurd to think I would have killed her if father hadn't explicitly forbidden it. I'm very happy for her, and I will be CERTAIN to tell her that in person that she has my COMPLETE support.

Nor could always come to the preposterous notion that I think father was mistaken in his decision. Yes, you could be forgiven for thinking maybe that much time in the court had gotten to him, and he went absolutely insane out of boredom and did something that any reasonable person would think was mad and overrule it. But that's not true! He has REALLY EXCELLENT reasons for going on a Grand Folly against Eurus to kill the Prophet of the Sands and retake Caer'alfar or whatever and make certain the world doesn't end that way. SOME of you might think that would have been a perfect chance for a crown prince to prove himself in battle and then be ready to ascend to the throne, but I can ASSURE you that he has very good reasons for doing it himself, and it's not just that he doesn't APPRECIATE the CAPABILITIES that such a prince could bring to bear.

No doubt SOME of you are wondering if other recent events influenced his thinking, like a certain SOMEONE that might have recognized his OWN responsibilities to ascend to Elysia and assume all the appropriate mantles, but instead decided to give up godhood instead. So PERHAPS you're thinking that my father had the MISTAKEN ASSUMPTION that I would make the same choice. Well, there's no way of knowing that, and we can all be certain the Seraph of the Quene of Endings knows best. And that when he is done with the Grand Folly, he'll make the RIGHT DECISION on returning.

So just to clarify to everyone: No, I'm not mad. Please don't write in the white journals that I'm mad.

Really Tyrval, this is very /unfashionable/ behaviour from you.
