In Memorium: Helianthus

Posted by Hazel on 01/18/24

I did not fit in Helianthus. I wanted to be more than the strict interpretation of history and culture that was allowed. I picked up a sword as a teenage girl and learned to fight in defiance of these. I saw more frowns than smiles, wore more tunics than dresses. But Helianthus was still my blood, and Sungreet was still where I grew up.

Remember the good of House Helianthus. Remember Sir Helmvor, who taught the sword to the children of the family, with his calm demeanor and wicked riposte. Remember Maggie, the cookie who would sneak extra tarts to the children when no one was looking, despite the stern warnings she gave to stay out of the kitchens when an adult was around. Remember Lady Eliza, the cousin and Disciple of Vellichor who gave us all our history lessons. Remember all those who did us a kindness when they didn't have to.

Remember Sungreet, where the best views of sunrise were had in all of Arvum. Do not forget the smell of the sea on the breeze, or the feel of the stone beneath your feet. Remember Sungreet, for it was home to many; many more than just House Helianthus.

You do not have to think fondly of Duke Trevor, or of Helianthus, but at least think of them for a moment, once in a while, so theirs is not another Story that gets Eaten.

He's in the city, my dear. Still alive.

--- Templars Stance via Preston ---
I visited Sungreet once. I have very different memories of it. And left but with a single gift - an arrow through my shoulder.

--- Navegant Stance via Ian ---
House Navegant remembers House Helanthius for what it was, and for what it became. We mourn for the future it never had the chance to realize.
