House Details

Q:I swear every org I've been in has joked about "changing" the house words, colors, sigil, etc. For most people it's honestly just a joke, but there is real feeling for others. What would be needed to change that kind of thing about the house, and how would the world react to it?
A: Honestly, a proclamation is probably enough. It'd be a fairly big deal, like an org changing it's name, in that a lot of prestige and respect for orgs is based on the weight and power their traditions and name brings with it, much like the deal with house swords. Like the most extreme effect would be a house loses all its legend, but for new houses, they don't have too much to lose there, and it might just reinforce biases old blood nobles have against them.
Now, in cases when it's positive: some major event happens, and a house changes to acknowledge that. An example would be after some huge battle, most family members are killed, and the soul survivor declares that a house name is changing in recognition of that. Things that have meaning are something the nobility can respect, it's just if the gravitas and dignity of the nobility as an institution is respected, versus someone doing something that makes light of it.
