Sparring with heirloom weapons
Category: Peerage
Question: In the 'heirloom weapons' entry, it's stated that heirloom weapons are not to be used in search of personal glory, such as at tournaments or in personal duels. But what about more neutral uses? Sparring is about practice, not glory, but it's still not strictly house business beyond the Sword getting more familiar with using their weapon, so I could see it going either way. Similarly, is it permissible to use an heirloom weapon in a PRP chasing after some kind of bad guy not directly related to house business? There IS potentially glory to be had in such a circumstance, but glory arguably isn't why the Sword is there.
Answer: To answer your questions, the heirloom weapons should be used only in the most ceremonial of settings or when a House's honor is directly at stake. You would not use it in random prp where something is not directly related to house business. That would cheapen the honor of the weapon. Also, as to training - private training sessions with the blade are fine, but no public spectacles of bringing it out in the training center.
