'Dismissing' Proteges

Question: Heya! Was looking over 'lore patronage' to see about if there was a process, type of words or like general mood for dismissing a protege but couldn't find anything. It does say '(and switching patrons is looked upon with askance, and may carry a degree of social opprobrium if most peers find it too self-serving or unjustified) ' which covers about a protege leaving a patron but nothing the other way around.
So if a Patron wishes to no longer patron for someone, is it a simple note to the protege saying it isn't you but me? Also is there any social push back similar to the above or does the Compact generally just shrug and move on from these things.
Answer: From an IC perspective, there should be some care taken by a patron that wishes not to be seen as callous when letting a protege go. A positive angle would of course be seen as to say that the protege has learned all that a patron could teach them, and should find another to continue their social development. That would be seen as flattering. A mild one could be said they are developing in different directions. And then a wide range of negative in saying that a protege does not reflect well upon the patron, or that they are a murderous thug who performs ritual sacrifices to the abyss and are dead to you. Somewhere in between that, probably. But generally speaking, a patron will not get social pushback as patronage is seen intrinsically as a favor, and only if someone is cruel about it would it get much notice.
OOCly: Staff isn't gonna take much notice of this generally, unless someone is doing it in a really mean spirited way. And particularly as characters change hands, I don't want people RPing rels that they just aren't comfortable with. If people feel good to pursue existing RP rels between new players, that's fantastic, but patron/protege have almost entirely been player driven rather than something written into characters and as such are just so reliant on pre-existing RP that is often difficult to translate from one player to the next.
