Comments and Log

In the moments that follow the initial chaos of the group's discovery by the Very Bad People on the island, a few things happen: First, Filshiar and Ian and subdued and bound separately. They appear to not only be threats but big threats. The people-smugglers take no chances and make sure that the two men are unable to communicate verbally or through gestures. Second, Tesha is also bound. Perceived as less of a threat, she is bound only at the wrists and brought to sit on a bench near a fire to be questioned. Third, Denica is able to quietly slip back toward the boat launch to reunite with Jan and Titania. Now, the three women are left to figure out what to do while Tesha faces the enemy.

Tesha's been captive before, she just doesn't like talking about it to most. While she's seated on the bench she has divulged no information. She honestly wasn't sure what the plain was, but, she was here to help...or apparently get kidnapped. Because maybe it would become all the rage. Not likely. The one eyed woman keeps her mouth shut and doesn't try to bite or headbutt anyone. At least not yet.

'I wonder where this path goes?' are probably the words that go through Denica's head. It takes her where she wants to be and when she arrives back she is looking serious. Plucking some leaves and twigs from her person she speaks immediately. "We need to get them back. Either we kidnap a couple of their people and negotiate an exchange or better yet, we take them all out." Denica looks at the other two women, "and burn their homes to the ground."

Jan paces the deck of the ship they came in on "Festering fuck-nuggets, Why'd IAN have to get caught-like he didn't get this'd be a lot easier if he were free! Stubborn booger-muncher."

Jan says, "We are not in the position for scorched earth tactics, but I don't want to negotiate with this fucks either.""

Titania hmmm as she looks to Denica and Jan, "If we are going to do anything we have to be careful they do not harm the others cause of it." she thinks as she looks between the two woman, "We could try scare tactics, start picking them off one by one make it seem like there are more of us then there is?"

Tesha checks perception and investigation at normal. Tesha marginally fails.

"Unless we have something to negotiate with, we are likely going to end up fighting them. So, if we are not prepared for that, I suggest we go in with some leverage. We could try creating a diversion and see if that can give us enough time to get them out, but it would still leave a couple no doubt. But, we could subdue them...," she bites on her lip. "Or...we get on board in some sort of disguise..."

Up at the camp, the dozen or so Very Bad People have split into four groups: one to watch over Filshiar, one to watch over Ian, one to watch over Tesha, and another to spread out along the perimeter of the camp. The group facing Tesha seems to have the overall leader among them. She glares at Tesha, but she doesn't say anything /to/ the Telmar lady. She's muttering to the others with her, low enough that Tesha can't make anything out.

Jan nods in agreement with Denica "That is the smart bet. If we start plucking them off they may lay a trap or start removing parts from hostages. Anyone get any idea how many were their numbers?"

Titania nods her head, "Alright." she says looking up near the tree that she had climbed before. "I think a dozen, it was hard to tell it was a bit chaotic." she keeps her eyes on the tree lines as they talk.

"Not enough for us to pretend to be part of the crew then, but enough that we can't fight them all ourselves," Denica says of the numbers as she thinks. "We might want to see what the going rate is for Ian, a Knight and the Lady there. Not that we have much to negotiate with. Honestly, I think we sneak in, slit their throats while they sleep." Not helpful Denica, anger issues probably. "So, I propose we create a diversion to lessen their numbers. Then we go in, if we can get Ian or Filshair out, they are going to add to our odds of being able to fight who is left. We can even try to fool them, but every time I try to come up with some elaborate plan-- we just end up fighting anyhow."

Jan checks wits and war at normal. Jan is successful.

Jan chews her bottom lip and thinks "I have a better idea. They're going to send scouts to look for the rest of us. We'll set traps for those scouts and make sure we gag and bind them. They'll send more to look for the scouts they lost, we'll either capture or dispose the second batch of scouts and strait after those who remain. We don't have to deal with everyone and free the hostages we just have to get to and arm the hostages and then the numbers will be in our favor. Ish."

Tesha isn't looking to get stabbed, but she isn't one to shy away from eye contact either given she's only got one! She doesn't say anything to any of the people that are in her little group and she doesn't try her bonds. Less resistance was sometimes the best way to live through things. She was also mentally writing her last will given Aethan was going to kill her for getting Ian captured.

Titania nods her head, "Alright, if it fails and he need to negotiate, I have the skills to do it." she nods her head. "I guess lets give it a shot ya?" she looks between them.

"I'm not sure failure would be a good place to start negotiate from. If we fail, I suspect we will be in the cells with the others," she supposes. As Titania agrees with Jan who states she has a better plan, Denica shrugs, "sure, let's do it."

Jan checks wits and survival at normal. Jan is successful.

Jan nods and grabs a spool of rope and promises the ship captain "I'll bring it back, Princess, Cousin, let's go tear shit up!" She bounds off looking for places suitable to conceal a couple of rather large snare traps and a handful of places where the wrong step will lead to someone get a branch right in the face. Each place a trap is set up there's cover for one of them to hide to best be able to take advantage of the brief distraction or disadvantage the traps afford.

Titania nods her head, "Yeah, I know." she looks to Denica then look to Jan and blinks as she bounds off and rubs the back of her head and moves to follow. "Mangata help us."

Titania checks luck at normal. Titania marginally fails.

Denica checks luck at normal. Denica is successful.

Jan checks luck at normal. Jan fails.

Tesha checks luck at normal. Tesha is successful.

Jan manages to find a decent place to rig a trap, and she has just enough time to get it tested to make sure it works before she hears a pair of Very Bad People out on patrol. They're speaking about how much money Filshiar can fetch them. Jan is able to retreat enough not to be seen, so when the two men come walking through the trap, it springs successfully! Now, the free trio has a pair of captives.

Back at the camp, a little noise can be heard at a distance. It draws the leaders attention, and she is squinting in the direction the trap went off in.

Jan hastily springs forward and claps a hand over the mouth of the scout she snared, going quiet and physically restraining the new captive for the moment while she listens for any falls or the thumping of boots against ground heading her way.

When the trap goes off and the noise is made, Denica steps back to hide again, just in case someone comes. Glancing around at the others to make sure they are doing the same.

Titania may not looks like she is strong but she moves like her cousin and grabs the second one and covers the mouth and pulls back into the bush to h ide for the moment.

Tesha checks charm and manipulation at normal. Tesha is successful.

Jan gets her captive gagged and restrained somewhere out of sight. She stands over him "I don't want to have to hurt you but if you're trouble I will make you a corpse so I have the peace and quiet I crave. Understood? Be a good little boy and you will get to tell this tale over drinks someday, misbehave and it will be the LAST thing you ever fucking do." she stares at him a moment before she goes about resetting the trap.

Jan checks command and intimidation at normal. Botch! Jan fails completely.

Tesha's not sure if people are trying to perform a rescue, but she's also not letting on that anyone else is out there. "So are you the head of this outfit?" Tesha finally asks the woman that's been glaring at her. Figured she'd just go ahead and address the elephant in the room.

Denica checks perception and stealth at normal. Denica is successful.

Time to meander off again, as everyone is doing something very important, Denica reverts back to her role as tree. That little tree is spreading it's branches and meandering stealthy down aways to see if anyone else is coming. No words, no sounds, just a small princess snooping about.

Up at the camp, the leader snaps her head back to Tesha in surprise. "What?" The woman practically snarls, displeased at being doubly distracted. Her expression eases only a little. "Now you talk?" With eyes narrowing, the woman watches Tesha for a long moment. Long enough that she actually does forget about the noise she heard. "Go see if either of the other two have been cooperative," She says aside to one of her small group. Back to Tesha, she nods. "I am."

Filshiar seemed enough of a threat that his group of captors decided to knock him unconscious. He is still -peacefully?- on the ground and bound. At the other side of the camp, Ian's guards are approached by the one sent over by the leader. "He in a talkin' mood?" The group all shrug, and one reaches out to remove the gag from Ian's mouth. "You in a talkin' mood?"

Down at the trap, Jan is talking a good game, except she miscalculated the whole binding a guy and towering over him thing. He rolls into her feet and shins, knocking her over face first into the undergrowth. Titania has a hold on the other man, but with Denica disappeared, it leaves her potentially in danger of getting the tables turned now that Jan is down.

Denica slips through the woods like a squirrel, mostly unnoticed and with ease. When she looks, she sees nothing. It appears the commotion hasn't caught anyone at the camp's attention. She is able to see that the group around Tesha has thinned.

Ian had been keeping his head down; he submitted to being bound without putting up a fight, and has been sitting quietly, just watching. He submits to having his gag removed; his flat demeanor could easily come off as passive, even meek. He certainly shows no immediate signs of being willing to put up a fight. "That probably depends on the subject of conversation," he replies.

Jan is knocked back on her ass and back into brush with a bit of a crash "Fucknuggets!" she hisses as she hastily scrambles back to her feet.

It seems all of the commotion is back at the trap sight, that and she can probably hear Jan and the crash. Denica winces and does an about turn and makes her way back, she's not loud about it. She's probably a bit sneaky, trying to gauge the situation. Though mostly, she's going to go for the bound guy, so she can secure him to something. Drawing her knife to suggest he doesn't try to roll around too much all the while.

"Huh, he's an Islander," Says the guard who removed Ian's gag. He shakes his head and kicks dirt toward Ian. "Shame he's a cripple, won't get anything good for 'im." In kicking that dirt, the guard also knocked Ian's cane closer to the Kennex lord.

Titania looks over as Jan is knocked down, she winces.."Cousin." she frowns moving to drag the guys she had to a near by tree in some brush and secure him. She moves back to help Jan back up and looks over to Denica and the one she moves to secure.

"Story of my life," Ian says in a dry tone twisted by fatalistic humor, the verbal equivalent to a shrug.

Jan wonders towards Titania "You brought your bow on this little outing, right cousin?"

Tesha doesn't flinch. She lived with Arn for most of her life, so snapping didn't bother her. She simply gives a nod when the woman answers her. "It's good to put a name with a face." she tells her. But then she looks off to where the others are. Specifically Ian and Filshiar. The man calling Ian a cripple gets stared at for a moment, "I'd not be name calling. It's easy for you to fall off something just as well." she states plainly.

"How do you know my name?" Junia is immediately suspicious, hackles up, when Tesha mentions putting a face to a name. The guards surrounding Ian laugh at the Telmar lady's defense. "Not like he's gonna do nothing about it." The guards begin to pass banter back and forth taking wild bets about who could best Ian with the least effort.

Titania nods her head, "Yes, I do not go most places with out it." she moves to pull the bow from her back.

Titania wields Intricately forged ancient steel recurve bow.

"In my defense, it was a -heroic- swan dive from the top of a mast," Ian offers, still with a sarcastic twist to his tone. "Broken reefing line, dangerous storm, risk of sinking. People were pretty impressed right up to the point when I lost my grip." He's noticed the cane knocked a bit closer, but isn't paying it any mind while he's still the subject of attention.

Tesha checks charm and diplomacy at normal. Tesha is successful.

Tesha just looks back to Junia and there's a slight sigh, "Well, your name came up a lot around Tyde Hall and things when a man by the name of Lord Nils went missing." she tells her. "And people were more than happy to give a name." she shrugs to that. "Plus, it was some of your own men that told me that you have Lord Nils and were planning on trying to move him. Which I will give my personal council on, it's not the smartest move for business." she raises her hands a little. "So I propose if you have him. That you let us take him home in one piece. I would hope that you haven't already gotten rid of him." she looks Junia in the eyes as she states that.

Ian checks luck at normal. Ian is successful.

Denica checks luck at normal. Denica is successful.

One of the guards around Ian snorts. The banter and betting has gotten raucous enough that one has decided to reach down and unbind Ian's hands. Feet still bound, the Kennex lord is prodded hard and pushed over toward his cane. "Let's see about that bet, fellas."

Junia is frowning. "Who the fuck is Nils? Oh. The Shav kid?" She rolls her eyes at Tesha. "Who cares about him? It's not like he's some Thrax Prince." She pauses and thinks. "A Thrax prince would fetch some good coin..." Her head shakes. "Yeah, the Shav kid is fine. But it doesn't matter, you'll all be off on a boat or the bottom of the sea soon."

Back down by the boat launch, Denica manages to keep the captive properly captive, along with the second one - who is acting more polite as a captive - while Jan and Titania plot.

Jan drags her prisoner to sit besides Denica's and lashes both to a tree then beckons Denica, "I forgot we have literally a champion archer with us. Any objection to having Titania pick a couple off and you and I see about boarding the boat while everyone's fleeing for cover?"

Ian checks dexterity and athletics at normal. Ian is successful.

Tesha gives a snort, "That Shav kid bent the knee and made oaths. I don't give a fuck what you think he is, he's a Lord." she tells her. "You pick poorly in who you think others won't come for or search out." she tells her as she glares at her now. "A Thrax Prince would just fetch you a quick death by beheading." she tells her honestly. Because that is probably what Victus would give her...if not someone else down the family line. "Either way, can you get to the killing me part because you are boring the shit out of me." she admits.

Weaving the ropes is easy enough, not a sailor, the princess knows how to knit, she secures the two prisoners while Jan and Titania talk. "Hello, hello," she says to them both, making sure to tie the rope tight. Holding her scorched scaramax in their faces she tells them, "be good." The princess balls up some rags and gags them so they don't start screaming. Not so much leaving her post, she does look over at Jan and Titania. "Given there's still ten of them and two of us, I am hoping she could pick off about six to eight of them?," she looks hopefully at Titania. "I thought the intent was to kidnap more than just two, but alright. We've got to do something, they are going to realize they're gone. Hopefully Ian and Tesha and Fishair are starting a riot."

Ian hits the ground hard, taking the force on his shoulder, when he shoved over, and immediately rolls. He gets a hand around the cane and scrambles awkwardly back. "If you're going to do this anyway, at least give me a chance to prove I'm worth keeping alive." He's no actor, though, and so his tone is still flat, borderline uncaring. He probably should sound afraid, and he doesn't.

Jan grins "If they aren't yet once they realize the best archer in the Isles is picking off their captives they will be." she grins at Denica "We're loosing daylight and I don't want anyone spending the night on that floating rat-trap."

Titania nods, "I will pick as many of them off as I can, lets go." she starts to move to find a position that she can start to pick people off from. SHe nods to Denica, "It would make picking them off easier if we have a bit of chaos going on."

"Cousin, I do not know about being the best archer in the Isles." she blushes at her cousins words about her.

Denica considers how to cause a little chaos and then she gets an idea. "There was that abandoned boat launch. We could set it on fire. That will get them scrambling, Titania can shoot at them and we can fight our way to freeing the others?," she suggests back to Jan.

Jan eyes Denica "Sure, just so long as we don't set any captives on fire." She grins at Titania "I was at the competition, cousin. You're amazing." She grins at Denica and Titania "Let's show these goat-gropers why you don't fuck with islanders."

Junia sneers at Tesha and reaches out to backhand the lady. She holds the assault, however, smirking at Tesha with her hand at the ready. "You think you're so smart? What does an Oathlander know about the way the Isles works?"

Ian's act may not be perfect, but the guards are riding high on the excitement of their goading one another. Two reach down and unceremoniously haul him to his feet while another cuts the rope at his ankles. "You're not worth keepin' alive, which is why we're 'bout to kill ya." One of the guards is gloating through a toothy grin.

Across the camp, Filshiar regains consciousness. He is still bound and gagged, weapons removed and set several feet away. But his guards are looking over at whatever is going on with Ian.

The two captive men that Denica has threatened have decided that it's easier to just see what nonsense the three women do. They don't seem overly impressed, but they're cooperating.

Titania nods, "Alright lets do it, I don't like waiting every moment counts."

"You know you could..." Ian stumbles a little bit when he finds himself on his feet again after being tied up for as long as he was; this part isn't an act, and he probably would have had trouble getting to his feet on his own. "You could always just surrender, all of you. Make this easier on everyone."

Jan nods to Titania "Start on periphery and work your way in." She looks to Denica "How long you to set the fire?"

Filshiar's eyes flutter open and, at first, the world is nothing but a blur of muted colors and sounds. As things slowly come into focus, it's with the lovely addition of a splitting headache that reminds him of what's going on. He hears Ian, but his attention is on his weapons off to the side. He moves his hands to check the knot on his binding, then tries to scoot a little closer to his blade.

"Not long, I've got some sailor's gin and a flint, I figure douse the building, light and flee?," she looks at Jan. "That should get them moving and Titania can start picking them off. She can position herself in the right area to catch them. It's enough chaos that it will give her cover and us cover. I hope."

Jan nods to Denica "Works for me. Just be ready to board."

Tesha gives a bit of a warning look to the woman, but she was fully expecting to get smacked. "I know that the Isles are changing and it's not sitting right with others. And I know more than you think I do. I've helped build Navy's and things in Thrax's fealty. I've been in wars. Don't think because I'm an Oathlander I've just sat and counted silver. I do much more than that." she tells her. "I assure you if you hurt that man with the cane you'll have more to worry about than just some Oathlander." she tells her.

There's a bare moment when someone who was familiar with combat might have had an inkling how bad things are about to go, just from the way Ian is holding that cane. He's not holding it like a cane, and he's not holding it like someone who doesn't know how to fight. In fact, his easy familiarity with what's about to turn into a melee weapon is exactly the opposite of that, the promise of a dangerous swordsman. Unfortunately, there's no time for anyone to react to this piece of information before he clears the alaricite sword from within the cane, cutting on the draw. Dead or dying, the man who was standing closest to him is no longer standing.

Titania asked for chaos and so Denica is going to give it to her. The short princess takes out two bottles of unmarked alcohol from her packsack. Only one is uncorked and she goes about dousing the building. Liquor sprays all over the place, it's pretty strategic and like she's done this before. Making sure that her captives are far enough away not to go up with the building, but angled enough that they can enjoy the entertainment. Denica finds some rags and soaks them in alcohol, giving enough of a clean end that she can light it and get out of the way before it catches. "I'm ready," she says returning to Jan.

Titania finds her sweet spot to hide as she pulls her bow back with arrow notched, a soft whisper of a prayer as she lets it go the arrow flying through the air and finds its target with a slickening thud, "1 down, more to go." she says softly as another arrow is knocked and ready to let go.

Jan nods to Denica and grins "Let's go get our people." She slips towards the ship, using cover while it's there and then just sprinting for the ship, blade clearing it's scabbard right before she hauls herself aboard, casting a quick glance over her shoulder to make sure Denica's still behind her before focusing on one of the sailors around Filshiar.

Jan checks dexterity and medium wpn at normal. Jan is successful.

"Wha-?!" An extremely startled, and prematurely cut off, exclamation comes from the man that Ian just felled. Suddenly, the other three that had been taunting and jeering are sobering and scrambling to draw their weapons. Across the camp, Filshiar has succeeded at busting the rope that bound his wrists and scooting to retrieve his blade. Thankfully, Ian's stunning turn of the tides provides all the distraction Filshiar needs to not be noticed before his blade is in his hands and he has cut the ropes binding his legs.

Startled yells erupt as one of the three guards near Filshiar lands on the ground with an arrow sticking out of his face. Even Junia turns away from Tesha now, looking around frantically.

Filshiar tests the bindings and smiles a little when he finds they were done in a rush, or simply by untalented hands. It takes him a moment, but as Ian engages in battle beside him, he tugs, pulls, and rolls quickly over to his blade, breaking the binding that holds his wrist. In a swift moment, he rearms himself and cuts at the robes around his ankles, standing to survey the scene as one of the nearby guards drops.

"Your timing's impeccable," Ian says to Filshiar, conversationally, as guards close in around them both. "I wasn't sure about my chances against all of these guys."

Tesha checks dexterity and athletics at normal. Tesha marginally fails.

"Why don't I try to sneak through and get someone out? It will up our chances of fighting this scum.," Denica says to Jan before watching the other woman go in with weapon out. Denica is going to look around for the best chance of rescuing someone. Using the chaos to her advantage, she heads in that direction. Little, sneaky, she is quiet and slips through the chaos of her own making. Filshair is with Ian, which leaves Tesha alone. Denica makes a quick decision and decides the pair can manage and she's offer to help get Tesha out.

Junia turns and Tesha takes the moment to try to tackle the woman, "Oh no you don't!" she shouts as she throws herself at her. Thank the gods she's not doing this in a dress. "Not...through with...you..." she grumbles as she tries to get her hands latched onto her. She wasn't getting away on her watch! Even if she ate dirt. Her face was already a mess!

The conversational nature of Ian's voice is completely at odds with what he's DOING while chatting with Filshiar. He casually sidesteps a swung blade, stepping backward enough that, without looking, he's able to pluck a knife free from the sheathe worn by Tesha's nameless guard in such a way as to capture his attention, drawing his ire. Another attack comes, and he's not there for it, either, moving around the first person who attacked him, turning the hapless man very briefly into a human shield long enough to give himself time to toss the dagger he liberated in Tesha's general direction. He steps out of cover before his shield can turn around to try to get an attack in, and a flick of his sword creates a challenge.

"I'm happy to share in the fun," Filshiar says, bringing his arming sword to bear with a little flourish, "but don't sell yourself short. I bet you would have managed." As he talks, he keeps his eyes peeled on the guards nearest to him, shifting his stance as they move her and there. One of them lunges at him a blade, timing things badly enough enough to allow the knight to parry and cut him down in a single arching swing. The move dizzies him a little, though, as he's still getting his bearings, and it's enough for a second guard to land a blow that rings heavily off his armor.

Jan will take a moment to make sure Filshiar is free of any bindings but then another captor has her attention. She parries, taking advantage of her startling speed honed by a childhood of sparring Ian. Dispatching the guard in a quick if messy manner she uses a booted foot to kick the person's prone form away before leaping back out of range of a swing from one of the remaining foes.

Junia is gaping at the absolute madness around her, and finds herself at the business end of Ian's sword. Her eyes dart around, and noticing that there is no one else around her to give her strength in numbers, her hands come out to the sides. Denica made it to Tesha's side

Junia is gaping at the absolute madness around her, and finds herself at the business end of Ian's sword. Her eyes dart around, and noticing that there is no one else around her to give her strength in numbers, her hands come out to the sides. It suddenly becomes clear that Junia carries no weapons herself. Denica made it to Tesha's side, and the tossed blade has served its purpose in allowing the Telmar lady to free her hands. The pair are able to step back from the fray while keeping Junia feeling surrounded. Seeing his leader's hands come up, the guard that had stood over Tesha with Junia also lifts his hands, dropping a sword at his feet in the process.

A few more guard shall before everything becomes quieter and clearer and Junia lofts her voice to shout, "Stop!" The command is for her remaining people.

"Well...that was embarrassing." Tesha mutters. Mostly to herself. She was trying to be of help and well...here she was. She gets up from where she's sprawled and lets Ian handle Junia as she didn't have anything to prove there. She goes about getting the knife that has been scooted her way to cut through her binds, "Where is Lord Nils." she asks.

Ian doesn't look back at the other guards, trusting Filshiar to keep anyone who might not stop when told to do so from stabbing him in the back. He keeps Junia covered with the point of his sword, but doesn't attempt to do any of the actual interrogating.

Jan calls out to Titania "Halt! If anyone misbehaves drop them!" She steps back but keeps her blade in hand and ready.

Reaching Tesha in time to catch her words, she gives the woman an understanding look, "come on-- get your blade ready," she tells her and tries to help get her out. The others are doing a good job at that, picking off the people that stand in their way. At this point, when she's helped Tesha, she's going to go back into the fray.

Titania arrow truck another guard down and holds her bow at the ready, she does not show herself not yet. But if someone does misbehave she will drop them, her head nodss at Jans words.

"In the hold of the ship," Junia answers Tesha, her voice defeated yet sharp. She's angry at the situation. None of the remaining guards are stupid enough to get themselves killed. They all drop their weapons.

Tesha recovers her sword and her dagger because they are not being left behind, "I think we've come to the talking part of this adventure." she nods to the others as Denica moves to go back into the fray. "Thank you for the assistance." she tells her quietly as she looks over those that have stopped. "Your information is much appreciated. Are there any other people that you've kidnapped out there?" she asks the woman.

Filshiar thanks Jan the she checks on him, but mainly stays focused on the guards nearby. His blade is kept at the ready and his brow creases in concentration. He still has a headache, but he's maintaining enough focus, and he'll make sure to keep any of them at bay who might try to rush at Ian and Junia.

Ian flicks a quick look towards Denica. "Mind tying her up?" He asks. "There's rope on the ground there." The rope that, minutes ago, was tying his arms and legs.

Jan studies Ian for any signs of harm "Gods, you are terrifying." She calls to Tesha "Checking!" she turns to head below decks to find the man they came here to find and haul him up, alive or dead.

Crouching down to grab the rope, Denica proceeds to tie up Junia, glancing up and around from time-to-time but making sure she's securely bound. Like the other two they left by the fire.

Jan sighs and grabs rope "We're holding her until we get him. We only need her, we don't need the rest."

Junia doesn't struggle when Denica ties her up, but it still isn't the smoothest process. The woman gives a nod. "Few others, all in the hold. We were to set sail tomorrow."

"We'll bring them all in," Ian says to Jan as he sheathes his sword into his cane. "They're all slavers. They'll just do it again if they're allowed to escape Duke Archeron's justice. Where's this hold she's talking about?"

Titania slips out from where she was holding her bow, "Sir Filshiar, can you help me. There are two who need to come join their friends down over that way."

Jan frowns at the numbers but nods once and sheaths her sword and reminds "Best manners or my eagle-eyed archer will give you the last accessories you'll ever get." and goes about helping secure the slavers.

As everything finally comes to an uneasy calm, Titania and Filshiar go to collect the two slavers who had been tied up down by the abandoned old boat launch. All of Junia's gang are bound and watched over as the ship is swept. Within the hold are a half dozen people - including Lord Nils. Once freed, he immediately goes to one of the women in the group and sweeps her into his arms. She turns out to be Lady Anya Saltcrown, another minor Prodigal noble of Eswynd vassalage. Once Nils is assured that Anya is well, he readily assists the group of rescuers with whatever they need - including taking command of Junia's vessel to get it back to Tyde Hall so justice can be served. In the end, both Nils and Anya are returned to their families, the slavers are dealt with as Tyde sees fit, and maybe someday there will be a wedding announcement from the two young Prodigals.
