Fire Stomp, A Celebration of New Life

Life is very much like that of a flame; at birth, we are naught but embers so vulnerable to the whimsy of life. As we grow, we become flames that burn brighter until the times come that we too must be exstinguished in endless cycles of life and death; of loss and renewal.

In this war against the Silence, thousands of lives flickered away in sacrifice to see that we all burned brighter together as a people. And in honor of this, Princess Katarina of House Valardin and Duchess Belladonna of House Pravus humbly invite all to join them in Solace Square to welcome the tiny embers of life that is the young children who have been born despite such travesties, and those to come.

Those who would wish to make a charitable donation to families in need are invited to do so. Attendants are also asked to bring one momento or keepsake and a short story of its value for a special part of the event.

May Lagoma's everlasting flame light the way in your darkest hour, and the Sentinel's watchful gaze guard your heart from the injustices of the world.

Katarina

Everything turned out far better than I thought it would. Duchess Belladonna was a fabulous co-host, and I'm grateful Marian and Sasha were there to help me out when things became a little too overwhelming.

The soft, whimsical notes of string instruments and flutes weaves an upbeat melody that floats through the pathways of Solace Square, a perfect background to the jovial mood of families that have gathered in thick bands to partake in the small celebratioh of life.
Babies coo and cry, young children squeak and fill the air with shrieks of laughter as they chase one another through the tables, while the adults converse with one another and bask in the relative peace of the gardens.
Princess Katarina Valardin and Duchess Belladonna Pravus have been arranged upon a bench, her lap nearly swallowed whole by small white candles and white-painted lanterns that spill out of baskets, waiting to be handed to guests that slowly filter past her on their way into the square.

Charlemagne the Unicorn arrives, following Larissa.

She is being patient and she is being tolerant and she is not even glaring at anyone's child. Belladonna might not quite manage to smile with joy for the noises of the children that are present, but she is not presently calling for their heads for their squealing, either. She is contentedly settled beside Katarina letting the younger (and much less round) woman interact with people as they arrive, offering smiles and the occasional murmured word.

Rickard makes his way into the square, offering nods of respect and acknowledgement to those whom he knows, or does not know. He finds himself a place to settle in, and does so; somewhere not too crowded, but also not too far away from people. Somewhere just right. Somewhere next to the refreshments, if there are any.

Larissa winds her way through the pathways of the square, pulled by laughter and music and lifted voices and takes a minute to stand at the edge of the crowd and take it in. After the ugly of war, it was a beautiful sight to behold and her face lit up as children ran around her. You would never expect a Courtesan to like children but there you have it. Dutifully she wanders over to Katarina and Belladonna, falling into a deep curtsy before them "My Ladies, what a wonderful celebration. I've brought a small donation if you will direct me as to whom to give it to" she asks

The sight of Fergus' presence alone might be enough to make children cry. The tall, imposing, and scarred face with a mouth etched in etneral frown which could suggest his usual state of mild annoyance. Truthfully, that's not his intention at all, he only happened to be passing through, drawn by the sounds coming from the square. Could be he didn't know this was going on, and while it might be out of his normal scope of thing, curiosity gets the better of him, causing him to turn and angle in the direction of those gathered. Get a look at what's going on.

2 Solace trained guards arrives, following Armel.

With a delicate motion of the hand, Katarina sees to it that Belladonna is well watered and fed like the good friend she is, lest hormones and the heat of the late afternoon see her fellow co-host less content. When she is greeted with the sight of the Softest Whisper, Larissa, her lips curl in a sweet, dimpled smile. "Your donations can be left with us, and we will see them turned over to the House of Solace to be dispensed to the families in need," she eplains, before lifting a single white candle beautifully shaped into a blooming rose for her to claim. "And this, my dearest Whisper, is for you to hold onto for later in the celebrations."

Armel emerges from the House of Solace, as if summoned by the mention. The man pauses at the top of the steps into the large structure, his single, dark eye blinking at all the tables and fairy lights. "Huh," He murmurs under his breath, hands moving to his hips as he stays right there for now, clearly deciding what in the abyss to do with all of this on his doorstep, almost literally. His expression, scarred and naturally dour, curls into the tiniest of smiles as he notes those already arrived, sparing Belladonna in particular a respectful nod, the others not getting much in the way of recognition, a touch uncertain about them it seems.

When Larissa steps up to greet them and offer a donation, Belladonna does indeed glance her way. She looks sidelong to Katarina, then turns her attention back out to the square without offering a greeting. Her eyes catching on Rickard briefly, then swing on to catch again on Fergus. Eyebrows lift and she tilts her head, her gaze following the scarred man as he moves. Curious. The heat certainly doesn't seem to be bothering her, though she's certainly picking at her little plate of finger foods and drinking her water. Behaving herself. The nod her way from Armel has her returning it with a solid one of her own.

Ender, a Silver Gyrfalcon arrives, following Marian.

Sir Rodrick, a Valardin Knight, Arik arrive, following Sasha.

Though she is clad in her customary black, Sudara looks to be in anything but a sombre mood. A smile plays upon her lips as she makes her way through the crowd, pausing here and there to quietly greet some of the more curious and outgoing children who dare to show an interest in the noblewoman. Eventually, however, she succeeds in making her way to the head of the House for which she serves as a Voice, sinking into a deep curtsey in acknowledgement of both Belladonna and Katarina. "Your highness. My dear and gracious cousin. I offer my congratulations on what already seems to be a vibrantly happy gathering," she says warmly.

Coming to a stop just a hair short of the group that's gathered, Fergus is quiet, eyeing the candles and the lanterns with a look that could be attested to trying to knit together their meaning or purpose. It's left unsaid for a moment longer, they under his dark brow picking at the faces of those nearby, if trying to recall a name to match to. Nothing seems to really come to mind, so he just lifts a shoulder in a single shrug. "What's the deal with all..." a hand gestures at the items surronding Katarina, "..this?"

Armel moves down the steps to join Fergus at those overheard words, apparently as the Grandmaster of the Knights of Solace wonders much the same thing about the event on his lawn, so to speak, as amused as he might be by it.

Larissa beams a smile at Katarina and takes the candle "My thanks my Lady." And presses it against her chest as she hands over her coinpurse. She doesn't let Belladonna's slight affect her, not here and now certainly - though she does incline her head and let a little smile creep across her features. "You look particularly radiant Lady Belladonna, carrying a child seems to agree with you." simply because it was true. There was little more organically beautiful than a woman carrying a child. - Then her greetings offered, donation made, she let's herself be tugged away by a few small girls and settles down to let them braid flowers in her hair

Sasha walks in upon Arik's arm with a smile curling her lips as they softly talk. Her gaze looking away from him to see Katarina, only causing a larger smile to curl her lips. Soon her steps leading her in that direction as she happily says "Princess Katarina, it is ever so wonderful to see you. I hope that I am not too late. Is there anything that I can help with? Oh! Have you meet Lord Arik Halfshav yet?" Her attention then looking to Arik as she introduces him.

As each new face makes an appearance, Rickard offers a polite nod of acknowledgement. He remains quiet, drawn more by sheer numbers than by anyone here, as of yet. He remains quiet and out of the way.

The grizzled, scarred, and scowling countenance of Fergus doesn't go unnoticed by Katarina. Instead of flinching away or lending him a sympathetic look, the princess is raising her hand to wave him toward herself and Belladonna, as well as Rickard too. "Prince Fergus, are you not? And you, too, sir!" No one escapes her gaze for too long. "Why don't you come and take a candle, or a lantern? You'll get to light them later," she sing-songs in sweet, infectious promise.

When Sudara comesi into their line of sight, Katarina is quick to proffer the Voice a candle and a dimpled smile. "Good evening, my lady. Welcome to the Fire Stomp. For every candle taken, Duchess Belladonna will be -that- much closer to smiling, and I will perform a dance of fire for the children. We're celebrating the continuity of life after the siege, and invited many mothers-to-be to celebrate the coming day of birth for the little ones and families. Each expecting mother receives a gift basket and the families come to enjoy the lights and good food for a change of pace."

"I am smiling," Belladonna points out, doing so quite promptly, as angelic as can be about it. She tilts her head in Katarina's direction, sending another smile around those immediately gathered. "Thank you," she speaks up to offer Sudara for her words, though promptly she's setting her plate aside and murmuring something to Katarina before she lumbers up to her feet and slips away from the immediate gathering.

Marian arrives at the event, her sure strides taking her to the two hostesses. She gives her adopted sister, Katarina, a warm smile, "Princess Katarina...I have arrived as promised." She turns to Belladonna as she makes her way out, "Duchess Belladonna Pravus." Then she turns back to sister and tells her, "So...it looks like you've done well here." She gives nods to the other nobles present, taking a candle as she joins her sister to assist since Belladonna had to step away.

2 Pravus Honor Guard have been dismissed.

Aida have been dismissed.

The tall young man and sword of whitehold smiles to his side as he walks arm in arm with the Princess Sasha. He pauses glancing to the other. "I'm not sure we have, but it's an honor your highness." He says gladly to the newly introduced.

From the direction of the market, Prince Mason slowly approaches the celebration. His hands are comfortably clasped behind his back and his dark eyes wander over the playing children as a smile pulls at his lips. Eventually he begins moving again, approaching the tables with the gifts to inspect curiously.

Katarina sends a glance after the waddling Duchess of Setarco, and barely smothers her laughter. "She was smiling," she echoes in observation before her attention turns back to the others. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Lord Arik. I'm glad you were able to make it. I hope you're taking great care of my cousin dearest?" Sasha receives a warm smile before Marian is immediately given some candles to pass out to newcomers. "If you could hand either the candle or a lantern out to new arrivals, and take donations, that woul be great. Food and refreshments are being served all around."

Sudara finds herself curtseying once more, as her duchess departs... but she accepts her candle from Katarina with a grateful smile. "Thank you. I look forward to lighting this when the time comes, and to finding out quite what has been planned. I must say that I warmly approve of this effort, and am glad that it has been undertaken." The newly-arrived Marian receives a polite inclination of the head, preceding still another curtsey, and a murmured, "Your highness."

Pariah, The StormCrow, 4 Redoubt Buccaneers arrive, following Maximilian.

Nicia's potentially running late, but she's not hurrying. She's walking with the quick stride of purpose, attempting to carry herself to the party with alacrity, but not with the harried appearance of someone that knows they are running late.

Marian doesn't seem to mind being conscripted into handing out the candles and lanterns to newcommers that approach the hostess. She hands a candle to Arik and Sasha who are standing there, "Please take these lights and be renewed." Her green eyes twinkle as she gives her cousin a look of approval before moving on to the next guest, Sudara, "Thank you for coming out to the event Lady Sudara. Your attendence is appreciated." She takes a few steps with candle in hand to geet Mason, "Prince Mason...welcome to the Fire Stomp. Please take this light...we'll be igniting these candles later as part of the event."

Sasha continues to smile happily as she responds to Katarina "Of course. I would love to help however I can. I even have some silver that I can donate myself of course." She leans in to softly say something before her hand retreving and small coin purse with silver and putting it into the donation basket for the poor families in Arx. Soon picking up the basket to walk around with as she says "If you wish to donate, please place your silver into the basket."

Maximilian Darkwater loves fire. And stomping things. And free drinks. Whats not to love? As such, he approaches Kataraina from the edge of the crowd, tipping his head to her as he comes closer. "Am I too late, Princess?" He inquires, hands folded behind his back as he strolls along.

Mason moves on past the tables and approaches where the candles are being passed out. "What is this gathering for?" The man asks in a soft-spoken voice of those gathered about, his words holding a touch of a foreign lilt to them. He focuses his attention on Marian, giving her a warm smile, "Good evening, Princess. I don't think I have ever seen so many children gathered in one place before." He says, reaching to take the candle she offers.

Fergus nods at this explaination. "Hm." A moment to consider before he sets down a sack of coin at Katarina's feet. "For the cause. Be back later for the latern."

Katarina rises from her seat and unwinds a delicate silken scarf from around her waist. "Thank you for your help," she calls off softly after Sasha, before lifting her golden gaze curiously to Arik. "Are you a good dancer, Lord Arik?" She questions of the Sword of Whitehold, before ensnaring his wrist in one end of the scarf gracefully before capturing Larissa's in the other before either can resist her allure to gently draw them into an easy sweep across the floor to the upbeat music of flute and whimsicial strings playing. "Of course, my lord!" she shouts, then, to Max. "Please feel free to take a lantern or candle from Princess Marian!"

Marian hands the candle over to Mason and explains what the event is about, "Life is very much like that of a flame; at birth, we are naught but embers so vulnerable to the whimsy of life. As we grow, we become flames that burn brighter until the times come that we too must be exstinguished in endless cycles of life and death; of loss and renewal. Today we are welcoming the embers of life that still exist in the city and asking for donations for the families that are now challenged because they lost family members. I do hope you brought a keepsake or momento of someone who's flame has touched your life. We will be inviting people to share their stories later." She pauses in her conversation with Mason to turn and offer Max a candle.

Maximiliantips his head to Marian. "Good to see you again, Princess Marian. And Prince Mason, once more as well. Two faces too long gone from the streets." Says Max as he takes his candle.

Sudara formally inclines her head, smiling to Marian... before moving to deposit a ready-filled purse as a quietly chinking donation. Unlit candle in hand, she then paces a few steps away, there to pause and survey the scene - and the other attendees.

Nicia comes to a halt on the fringes of the gathering, her eyes quickly scanning the faces of those present. Not spotting who she is looking for she frowns just a fraction, remaining rooted in place.

Larissa was sitting on a low bench letting two little girls weave flowers into her hair as she threatened them with tickles to their avid delight. She watches the crowd, soaking up the warmth of summer and laughing easily. When max arrived she stood with a broad smile, picking up the smallest girl as she did so and made her way to his side to deposit a demure kiss to his cheek. "My Lord" she grins and gives the little angel a conspiratorial grin as she leans over and puts a large flower in the Counts hair "Magnificent!" she commends just as she's whisked into the dance - The laughter of the little girl shrieking in her ear as Larissa spins her around

"Aaah, thank you for explaining." Mason replies, nodding. "I am afraid I have no memento or keepsake, but that is alright. I don't know that I'll be free to stay so long. I have other engagements this evening yet." He gives Max a smile, "Good to see you again, my lord. We should have drinks again sometime. For now I must make sure I put a donation in for this cause." He says, slipping over to put some coins into the basket. He's turning to move further onward when he catches sight of Katarina and gazes upon her intently, an almost wary look shadowing his features, though maybe it's just a trick of the lighting.

Maximilianis about to respond to MAson, when he's attacked by flower wielding courstisans. It's a horrific attack. The kind of thing that catches a man entirely off guard and leaves blooms latched into his hair. He just eyeballs LArissa with some amusement. "Off with you woman."

l The little raven-haired princess enters Solace Square with a whisper of red southern silks and a glimmer in her eye. Glancing about the crowd, she offers a shy but warm smile to those she know, and begins to drift through the crowd. Her smile seems to grow as she notes the little girls weaving flowers into Larissa's hair, "Very pretty, " she nods with playful approval. Another smile and incline of head is offered Max's way and yet another to the lovely Sasha, Katarina and Nicia.

Valencia claims this. (Sorry. *blush*)

Nicia's smile quickly vanishes when Valencia smiles in her direction, and she offers a smile in return, one hand lifting a bit in a sort of aborted wave before falling back down to her side.

Sasha offers a smiles to Valencia and makes her way towards her as she says "Princess Valencia, it is wonderful that you were able to attend, please come with me to get a candle. How did you ball go? I am sorry I was not able to attend."

As Larissa is pulled into the crowd of merry-making, and Arik presumably isn't resistent to her draw, Katarina leaves the courtesan and child in the care of the Sword of the Whitehold, loosening their wrists from her scarves. "Enjoy the peace, you two!" she laughs, before her hand rises in fluttering wave to Valencia. "Princess Valencia," she calls toward the Southern Star of the North, slipping through the crowd to make her way toward the Redrain princess and her cousin, Sasha. Mason's gaze upon her does not go entirely amiss, the corners of her mouth upturned into a soft smile as she waves toward him as well. "Your Highness! I hope you're enjoying the festivities?"

"Thank you for your donation," Marian tells Mason as he drops some coins into the donation basket. She stifles a chuckle at the antics of Max and Larissa, doing her best to keep her composure at the attack of the flowers and the count's reaction. She does lean over and murmur something to Katarina while she continues to help hand out candles and take donations for the event.

Mason puts on a quick smile when Katarina looks his way, though his eyes still seem troubled. He approaches the woman at a measured pace, "Yes. I am. I don't believe we've met before? I'm Prince Mason, House Grayson." He shares, looking her over curiously again. "Forgive me, I do not often see others in Eurusi garments about Arx."

The little fox looks a bit confused by Nicia's reaction, her large dark eyes filling with concern, though she politely offers a friendly wave back, looking not entirely sure what she has done to warrent such a reaction. The warmth in her eyes returns as Sasha makes her way to greet her and take her under wing. A gentle offer of a light hug and kiss are issued to both the delightful Sasha and Larissa. "Thank you, your highness. I would appreicate this very much," she offers as she begins to walk at Sasha's side. "It was a very beautiful night. I wish you could have been there. Nice time, yes?"

Maximilianlooks between Katarina, then Mason, then smiles. "Prince Mason. This is Princess Katarina of Valardin, with her recent atoption. She is a recent arrival on our shores."

Larissa laughs as Max shoo's her away and spins around Arik as Katarina bound their wrists together in silks "Why if it isn't the mysterious man of the north" she teases the sword good naturedly, having noticed him (and his money) at the auction a few nights ago. She spins around with him, still holding the small girl on her hip she would lean in and let the sweet little thing put a flower in his hair as well... then she let her down to run off and brag to her siblings for dancing with a handsome Prince- to which Larissa laughed and winked at Arik. "She thinks you're a prince" she dimples

Larissa also manages to catch Valencias voice in the crowd and she waves at her "Princess, you look lovely as ever. So good to see you."

Pariah, The StormCrow have been dismissed.

4 Redoubt Buccaneers have been dismissed.

Sasha walks over to Katarina and softly speaks to her, while still holding the donation basket within her hands.

A subtle bend of the knee and a dimpled smile accompanies Katarina's ackowledgements to Mason. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness. I've heard quite a lot about you in my time here on these shores." Her silks flutter in the cool breeze of the early evening, to which is gently bound around Max's wrists, and its opposite end gently coiled around Valencia's own. "Come now, Princess Valencia! You'll show me your graceful moves on the dance floor, won't you? The children have been dying to learn from someone as talented as you!" A vibrant laugh lost, her free hand stretching outward to clasp onto Sasha's own and draw her into a sweep of a dance.

Presumably her sister is around somewhere, but busy, but Nicia doesn't stay to find out. She gives one last look to make certain that she doesn't spot her, then she turns on her heel to leave as abruptly as she came.

Maximiliansteps to the side to chat quietly with Marian a moment.

Sasha is pulled away from Katarina and begins to follow Valencia's lead with her cheeks brightly flushed. Her eyes looking upon Arik for a bit before looking back to her lovely dancer partner and offering a smile.

Marian has a lull with handing out candles and chats quietly with Maximilian. Her face goes from joking to serious as their conversation continues.

"A pleasure to meet you, Princess Katarina." Mason replies with that same thoughtful expression on his face. As she shares that she's heard a lot about him, the man smiles quietly, "Have you? Perhaps we could meet and talk sometime." As she goes about working to draw people into dances, the prince withdraws, moving on to speak with other nobility that are milling about, yet more than once he casts curious glances towards Katarina.

It is not long before Katarina's efforts of drawing her peers off into a merry spin around the center of the square pays off. Children an youths are soon rushing to join in the festivities as musicians begin to play once more. Laughter resounds, and liquors and virgin drinks alike are flowing aplenty via volunteer servers slowly moving through the crowds.

Valencia blushes a little at her words. "You are very kind to say so. And you as always are a delight to behold, my darling Mistress Larissa. I am so very glad to see you again," the little fox beams. Turning to Sasha there is a shyer smile, "Your compliments are a so kind, but I am very sure there are others much more graceful than I to learn from, yes? But how can I resist such a beautiful invitation and dance partner?" she replies, her bright smile blossoming across her face as she takes the offered hand and the dance begins.

Katarina slips toward Marian, leaning in to whisper a quiet word to her elder sister as golden eyes sweep over the crowds with subdued satisfaction.

Marian reaches out and puts her hand on Maximilian's shoulder and gives it a squeeze as she continues her quiet conversion. She keeps an eye on the table that holds the candles and basket for donations. As she sees her sister approach, she gives Maximilian a quiet apology and then moves to talk with Katarina. She gives a nod after a few moments and then moves to center stage where she can grab other's attention.

Maximiliansteps away from Marian as she moves to the stage, then fades back.

Sudara, meanwhile, has sunk into a crouch - surrounded by a spread of black skirts - so that she can better talk to a trio of young children. Still, when Marian attempts to draw attention to herself, the Voice of Pravus gently directs her young companions to turn around and look towards the Princess, if only so that she can do so herself.

Larissa catches Sasha's glance to Arik, and smiles broadly recalling that they arrived together "My Lady!" she calls to the woman, passing a wink to Valencia "Perhaps you will change dancing partners with me? I try to make it a rule never to dance with a man who might be prettier than I am" she teases and would spin Around with Arik until she could replace her hand with Sashas, and take Valencias arm in hers instead.

Mason drifts onward, pleasantly chatting with folks here and there, cheerfully greeting friends he has not seen in months. Then, finally, the prince slips away, likely on to other engagements, or maybe just home to his own family.

Rickard stretches, and continues to observe the goings on with a polite smile. He finds himself bouncing back and forth between wanting to stay to chance the unknown, and leaving due to feeling somewhat out of place. .. Hm. He'll stay, for now.

Sasha smiles gratefully to Larissa as she allows for her to dance with Arik in her place. Her affectionate gaze then looks to Arik as she says "Mi'Lord, it is a pleasure to dance with you." Easily letting Larissa take her place with Valencia.

Taking up a candle in hand, Katarina quietly moves to join Marian center-stage in the middle of the square. "If we could have everyone's attention," she calls out, waiting for the music to slowly die down to a soft hum so that the crowds can overhear them without strain. "If you have your candles and lanterns, could you come and gather around us?"

"We start as a spark, and then our parents care for our candle until we can reach the age of majority where our flame flickers and grows to make us the people we are. As we encounter others in this lifetime, our flame catches and grows to reach those that love us...though the good times and bad. When we finally are extinguish, our ashes fall to the ground to build the spark for others." Marian tells the gathering as she pulls a necklace with a male wedding ring on the end, "Tonight, I light my candle for Prince Valen Valardin, my husband, my lover and my dearest friend. His flame has burned it's place in my soul and I am grateful for the time we got to spend in this youth."

She lights the candle and then holds it up as she starts to tell the crowd a story about her departed husband, "The first time I met my husband was at the end of my sword, when I captured his hunting party in the forest." She pauses as a few folks present chuckle, "He apparently didn't hold that against me and instead took the opportunity to flirt with me even as I threatened his life." She gives a wink to the crowd, "So...the lesson here is first impressions are not always what they seem. An enemy at the end of your sword could be a future wife or husband. Remember that the next time you draw your sword." And then she steps aside to allow another to step forward.

Valencia smiles brightly at Larissa as partners are exchanged. "My dearest Larissa," the little princess smiles brightly, turning ther attention to watch the ladies speak upon the stage.

Sparte is a late arrival, coming off his shift and still in full armor. He has helmet held in one hand and immediately begins to look around and try to figure out how far into the celebration things have gotten. Lacking a candle or lantern, he listens from off on his edge of the event with a smile for the words being said.

Larissa smiles warmly at Valencia as they fall silent to listen to Marian tell her story. Slowly, Larissa begins to move through the crowd, presumably with Valencia in tow, until they stand next to Rickard with a gentle smile. She had noticed him keeping to the sidelines and alone, and quietly she offered a demure greeting before letting her heart be carried away by the touching story of an enemy turned love.

Katarina gives a delicate squeeze to Marian's hand, then takes a match from an attendant standing behind them. With a deep breath, golden eyes lift to skim over the crowd with a dimpled smile slowly cresting her pale lips. "Tonight, I light my lantern for the men and women who gave their lives to see me delivered safely to these lands. May their sacrifices never be in vain, and they know that every day I breathe, it is because of their valorous courage to go against what is wrong."

As her eyes begin to mist over, the young princess turns her gaze toward the others in the crowd, holding out the wick to be passed to another awaiting to light their candles. "If you do not feel comfortable sharing your tale with us, you may do so with a companion or simply in prayer. We simply wish to thank you for coming to celebrate the cycle of life with us tonight."

Valencia follows along with Larissa as she moves through the crowd, offering Richard a warm, sweet smile as she and the lovely whisper stand beside him, her smile softening at Marian's tale and Katarina's words. A little wave of emotion crests in her expression before settling down again and the sweet smile returns, her dark eyes studying the flame of the candle for a moment before turning to her companions watching the proceedings.

She's far enough along in her pregnancy that really, nobody can blame her for the sudden need to disappear for long stretches. They're all just lucky she hasn't gone into labor yet. Belladonna waddles back towards the main grouping of the gathering, lingering at the edges before starting to circle around towards Katarina again.

Maximilianlikewise lingers at the edge, not entirely comfortable in the crowd. He's not exactly a socialite, in the best of days. He makes his way around the outside of the event, observing from different angles.

Marian reaches out and gives Katarina a quick squeeze while holding the lit candle in the other hand, giving her comfort from her tale. She does notice that Sparte doesn't have a candle, so she motions for one of the attendants to bring him one and anyone else that is missing a candle.

Sudara glances around to see if anyone is hastening to accept the invitation to light their own candle and take to the stage... then moves forward to do so herself, smiling her thanks to Katarina. "For myself," the black-clad Voice of Pravus says, projecting her voice with a tutor's practiced ease, "I light this candle for those we have lost - most notably, one who honoured me with the chance to help to raise her - and for all those who chose to fight for us, in spite of differences in culture, style and language. We should not forget the unity that was found, in service of the Dream and in opposition to those seeking to bring Silence. Bravery is not measured by the style of blade one carries, or the clothes one wears. It's found in deeds and in service to others. For all those who lived up to high ideals when we needed them, I am glad to give thanks." She raises her candle in salute, then steps aside, offering the little flame to others.

Squee, the Flying Squirrel, Brigid arrive, following Darren.

Katarina smiles softly up at Marian, then turns her gaze upon Sudara when she takes to the stage with her own tale of whom her candle is lit for. "Thank you for having the courage to share this with us," the dark-haired Valardin expresses after she has finished, a dimpled smile sent toward Belladonna when she sees the return of her co-hostess. "We will take one more story in the lighting of the flame before we go on," she calls out, waiting with comfortable patience between sister and best friend for the final participant.

Larissa lights her candle as the flame is passed around and steps forward "When I arrived to Arx, it was to escape a fate that would mean my death. Betrayed by my own family there is only one person who stood up for me, who sheltered me, who showed me love and grace and safety. She brought me to safety and became my dearest friend and truest family. Tonight I light my candle for our fallen Queen Genevieve - hers is the light I will follow always." she whispers.

Darren steps into the square - he is late, and he knows it, which is why he tries not to brign a lot of attention to himself. He sticks towards the edges of the square and comes to a pause, folding his arms over his chest as Larissa steps forward to speak.

Maximiliansteps on to the stage after Sudara... "I light my candle for many people. For the chained, who died without knowing release. For the soldiers who died, holding the enemy at bay. For family and friends who are gone." He pauses for a moment then admits. "I light this candle, however, mostly for my sea. May the tide come back in, and may it return to us." Not a great speech but then... Max isn't a public speaker.

The smile from Katarina is returned. Belladonna dips her head that way, though she doesn't immediately approach. When she spies Max she smiles again, lifting a hand to wiggle fingers in greeting his way. Larissa's words are listened to distantly until Bella catches just who it is she lights her candle for, at which point her focus snaps over there. Her head tilts and she studies the woman for a moment before again looking on. The others that make their offerings are listened to attentively.

Sparte looks at the candle when it is brought to him, glancing up at the attendee and back to it. With a little sigh, he closes his eyes in silent prayer. When the prayer is done he pulls out a flint from his kit, striking it across the steel of his gauntlet holding the candle to spark it to life.

Catching someone's glance in the crowd, Darren casually takes a few slowed steps over to Valencia. He comes to stand beside his cousin, dipping his head to murmur something to her with a light smile, before he looks back to those stepping forward to light candles.

As Larissa and Maximilian soon step forward to give their own testimonies, Katarina rewards them both with the infectious warmth of her reassuring smile. "If you would all set your candles here," she motions toward a long swath of a wooden table built to hold the lit lanterns and candles. "Then, we'll break bread and drink together in unity while one last surprise is prepared for presentation tonight."

Valencia listens quietly, delicate hands folded before her, her large dark eyes solemn as each person speaks. There is a little smile for Darren as he arrives and another for Max as he completes his story for the crowd, her brow furrowing a touch at his words before smoothing again. She leans gently aside as Darren speaks, her eyes softening and then widening a little. She looks up at him and quietly replies.

Marian holds the candle that is lit and quietly listens to others add their stories. Her own flame burns steady in her hand. Belladonna gets a respectful nod when she returns. Darren is greeted quietly as well when he arrives late to the party. She does stay by Katarina's side until they're told to put their lit candles in the long swath of a wooden table. She moves over and puts down her candle and then moves on to let others do the same.

Mischief arrives, following Remi.

Pariah, The StormCrow have been dismissed.

4 Redoubt Buccaneers have been dismissed.

Larissa smiles to Katarina, trying to grasp for the warmth that had been spilling from them all but moments ago. She has of course lived with her loss longer than most others as they mourned those lost in the siege - but loss was something that never truly left. She unwound her arm from Valencias, nodding to Darren as he stepped to the other side and she moved to place her candle upon the table, placing a gilded mask next to it. Then she steps back smile at their hosts, waiting for the next part of the ceremony.

Darren inclines his head lightly to Marian when he catches her glance, and then there is a nod to Larissa as well. But aside from his quiet conversation with Valencia, he stays mostly quiet and watchful for the next stage of the event.

There are no words spoken for Belladonna's candle as she lights it, though there is certainly a long look. Regret peeks out in her expression, but only for as long as it takes her to lift her gaze again. The candle is put where it should be before she retreats again, not away from the gathering but certainly again to the edges of it.

Marian waits for the first few folks to lay down their candles and lanterns before calling out, "Please...come and eat and be merry. There is enough food and drink to go around. Like all flames, people need nourishment. The bounty you see before you was crafted by some of the best artisians in Arx." She moves to take her plate and encourage others to join her in partaking with the banquet, "There will be entertainment in a short well so take your seat once getting your food and be generous in your compliments to those serving tonight."

Coming into the square and initially sticking to the fringes of the gathering of lights within the trees Remi's eyes slowly wander over the crowds who had come out for the festivities. A small smile playing over the Thrax Prince's soft tiered lips as he draws his focus from face to face in study watching those little interactions and expressions.

As young commoners and nobility alike move forward to carefully place their candles and lanterns on the designated tables, volunteers skillfully move to set out refreshments to be funneled out to guests who wish to be served sweet treats, foods, spirits, and all manner of drinks.

Meanwhile, Katarina moves her way into the middle of the square where a large area is cleared around her. A lady's maid places her hair into a tight bun, while long chains with fire-wick laced through their links are placed in her hands.

Sudara delays her own approach towards the table long enough to assist in safely guiding a few children and their candles to it. Once she has set down her own little token of rememberance, she takes a slow, deep breath... then moves to take a seat for the banquet.

"Larissa, it is good to see you again," Darren's voice rumbles as Marian invites them all to be seated, and he draws away from his quiet conversation with Valencia as a result. Larissa there at her side gets a studious glance and even a smile. "It's been some time. Have you finally given up on all your efforts of learning how to charm Northerners?" he chuckles playfully, giving his head a shake as he starts his way to the table, giving Marian a warm smile as he starts looking for food. "Princess Marian, good to see you once more. Really, we must stop meeting so randomly like this," he jokes, before there is a curious glance to Katarina, along with a squint of his eyes in her direction. "What's she up to?"

Sparte takes a little while to get over there, but eventually puts his candle with the others. He gives an awkward glance around before backing up to watch what is happening next.

The little princess offers Darren a nod and drifts over to offer a greeting to the Thraxian Prince before finding a seat. "My Princes," she greets him with a warm smile and an offer of a delicate hand. "I did not know you were attending this. Would you mind company?"

Marian smiles at Darren as he approaches, motioning to the best cuts for the Redrain prince, "Well...it seems our social calendars keep becoming intertwined. Is it mischance or by design? I do not know." She gives a chuckle and takes a few choice meats for herself, "And my dear sister, Katarina, is preparing a surprise for everyone...so don't worry. She will be back. You just have to be patient." She finds a few fruits and veggies, filling her plate so she doesn't have to get up quickly, "You're welcome to join me at your table...you and..." She glances at Valencia who Darren was talking to, "Anyone else you'd like to invite."

Larissa smiles at Darren as his teasing banishes sadness from her eyes "Never" she responds with a dimpled grin. "I just haven't met the right one yet" she insists lightly, clearly teasing. "It is good to see you as well Highness, I trust the fates have been keeping you well." she murmurs graciously as the little girl she had danced with earlier comes up and tugs at her skirt. Larissa swoops her into her arms and dances her over to the food to ply her with sweets and conspiratorial giggles.

When Valencia comes over to greet him the man smiles warmly, fondness touching his eyes as he looks to the vixen. "Ah Vixen, haven' ya learned yet? I be anywhere there are good drinks and something to enjoy least until the Reaper be finished with her work." The man giving a quick wink before reaching out to take the Princesses hand in his own, "And well always up for bit o' company." A chuckle leaving the Thrax Prince. The laughter doesn't ring out for long though quickly being silenced as his lips press into a small smile that is offered to Marian as she asks her question, "Lass, there are plenty I wanted to invite to celebrate, But sadly.. they were unable to join us." Remi's focus then shifts to look over the others at the table as he dips his head in greeting.

She starts to drift towards the tables, but stops before she makes it halfway there. Belladonna scans the faces of those assembled, looking it all over and shifting a few paces back again. When she spies Katarina and her preparations curiosity surfaces again, and she settles in to standing where she is while she watches with interest.

Rickard offers a polite smile from his corner of the room, and nods to Valencia. He surveys the room, enjoying the atmosphere.

"Mischance, design, or we just both like parties," Darren remarks to Marian with a wide grin, putting the cuts she points out onto his plate and helping himself to some fruit and vegetables too. By the time he is done, his plate is practically overflowing. "I'd love to join you at your table, your Highness," he notes, flicking a glance to Valencia and Remi. "Though I do believe my cousin's found someone to occupy her attentions." There is another glance over to Larissa as he follows Marian to wherever she leads, and the Whisper gets a laugh. "It's not the fates that keep me well, Larissa. I do that all on my own," he winks at her.

Katarina checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 6 higher.

Marian gives a respectful nod to Remi and Valencia, giving a nod as if to invite them to join her and Darren as she leads the Redrain prince to a table that will give him a good view of tonight's performance. She puts her plate down and then motions for one of the servants to bring them drinks. She chooses a mead, opting to avoid wine and then looks to him, "Well...I can't say that parties are my preference...but I do love my family so when Katarina asked me to come, I could not refuse." She takes a sip and jokes, "Although...I don't remember volunteering to assist. That just happened through her clever actions."

Valencia smiles again Rickard's way and then returns Marian's respectful nod and invitation with one of her own, then with a little glance Remi's way, begins to move to the table as bid. "I thank you, your highness. It is very kind of you," she offers with a gentle but bright smile as she gracefully takes her seat. Dark eyes turn with interest to the floor as Katerina prepares perform.

Larissa let's the child pick out a plateful of sweets much to the despair of her mother who looks on with a mixture of indulgence and horror. It was an expression that Larissa had a tendency to inspire in many people. Then she makes her own plate, also mostly full of sweet things, before wandering around and speaking here and there to those she knows... Darren gets another laugh an a nod "I believe it" she dimples, those eyes of hers sweeping the crowd and noticing Remington, she dips her head in a gracious nod and wanders to Rickard as well as she wanders to his side "Nothing from the table, it's an excellent feast" she insists, noticing Belladonna standing off to the side as a frown pulls at her lips. She was pretty sure someone ought to be giving the pregnant Lady food and making her sit down.

Remi moves along with Valencia following in the wake of Marian and Darren, The man leaning in to say softly to the Velenosa turned Redrain Princess beside him. "So I have not missed much of the festivities for tonight then?" His brow lifting as he glances her way before he is turning his focus back to Marian. "Thank ya lass, Do appreciate it.." The man's words just starting to leave him as a small monkey rushes up to begin climbing up across the man's side and up along his arm to perch on his shoulder. The little creature giving a high chittering as his hand quickly moves out, Remi himself just sighs fishing a small flask out of one of his pouches. The flask looking almost as if made for the creature as its handed over to the monkey. His attention turning towards Darren as he moves to take his seat beside Valencia with Mischief perched on his shoulder. "Think saw ya briefly night of the fucking mess back in Thrax Ward yeah?" The man watching and waiting a few moments before his attention is drifting. Remi's gaze of blue-grey drawing out over the others focusing briefly on Larissa and Rickard before the sight of Katarina preparing for her art has the man's head tilting. His eyes watching her preperation closely as he begins to grin.

"There was a time when there was a party every week. Sometimes three or four," Darren remarks to Marian. "It slowed, during the siege. But it looks like people are getting ready to pick up where they left off. We might be running into each other a lot," he flashes her another big grin, and a laugh as he settles into his seat, grabbing a whiskey from teh servant that Marian flags down. "But I think I'm glad for it. I got tired of them before.. still, the siege sort of opened my eyes. You only live once, eh?" he lofts his whiskey glass and tips it to her in salute, then knocks it back in a single swallow, before he looks to Remi and nods his head a touch. "Yes, we came after the wall exploded," he frowns a touch. "I was glad to be there, to do what I can. Hoping I can help put the wall back into place, however I can assist."

Fiona arrives, following Niamh.

Fiona leaves, following Niamh.

Katarina checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 11 higher.

Once the flames have slowly licked their midway up the chains, Katarina kicks her slippers from her feet and moves back into the center of the square. Her dance begins. Slow, delicate steps and graceful sweeps of her arms and wrists see the chains spiraling around her. Scintillating hues of greens and blues lick at the night air around her, their whistling of chains masked under the jovial music and rhythmic clap of hands and onlookers cheer her on. A light skip, and a twirl on bare toes, as hips swirl and rock to the percussive rhythm of hand-made drums.

Baron Archibald Chirpington, a Gyrfalcon, 1 Grayson Guardsmen, 1 Iron Guardsmen, Whisper, a Blue and Gold Macaw arrive, following Aiden.

Sasha begins to look a bit tired as she says to Arik "Lord Arik, perhaps we could rest for a bit? I am quite parched and would adore to find some tea." She continues to move along with her guiding dance steps.

Baron Archibald Chirpington, a Gyrfalcon, 1 Grayson Guardsmen, 1 Iron Guardsmen, Whisper, a Blue and Gold Macaw leave, following Aiden.

Marian shakes her head and tells Remi, "No...you didn't miss much your highness. We had just finished the greetings and were lighting candles when you arrived." She motions off to where Katarina disappeared, "My sister should should be performing soon." When Remi asks about seeing her at the Wall in the Thrax Ward, she gives a nod, "Yes...as Prince Darren said, many of us came to House Thrax aide after the wall fell." She gives a half smile, "It was good to see everyone coming together to repel the invaders."

Marian turns to Darren, "And I'm afraid that I spend more time training and on the field than in social events but my family is insisting that I stop being a hermit." She gives a little laugh, "Yes...we do only live once. I for one, do my best to live each day like it is my last so in the end, when Death comes for me, I shall not regret my life." She pauses as Katarina takes the floor, her smile widening when she sees her adopted sister starting the fire dance, "Now...that is a skill I do not have."

Arik nods to the woman at his side. "Of course your highness. I do not want you to wear yourself out." He says and smiles though leaning over he'll peck her cheek lightly. The young warrior will move to find something to drink or perhaps her guards come pre-loaded with a drink though he returns quickly enough.

The rest of the gathering is for now forgotten. Belladonna remains standing where she is, watching Katarina dance with her fire with a great deal of fascination.

Sasha moves away from where all are dancing to find somewhere to sit down. Her smile quickly returning when Arik brings her some tea and says "Thank you Mi'Lord." Both of her hands cupping the tea as she softly says something to Arik.

Katarina checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 15 higher.

The sword, moves over one hand lightly hovering over the back of the princess in case she should fall perhaps. Arik being protective it seems though he moves to sit beside the other leaning slightly to hear what she says. He will speak back in the same hushed manner.

With an expression of careful concentration, Katarina handles her chains delicately as many of the links become wreathed in the flame. Silken skirts flutter out around her, their intricate array of embroidery glistening in the flamelight as she spirals around once more before collapsing onto her knees. The chains slam into the cobbled ground, finally puttering out with a splash of water and careful handling by boys standing nearby.

Settling into her chair, the little princess smiles as Katarina moves with expert grace across the floor, her eyes gleaming with the flames as they move in long blazing ribbons and the scent of buring fuel fills the air. "It is a beautiful thing, yes?" Valencia smiles with great delight. "I wish could perform as such, but I do not think I have such talents," she offers to Marian with a wry grin. "Are you equally as gifted, Princess?"

"I know what you mean, about not wanting any regrets," Darren remarks to Marian, as the servant brings him over another glass of whiskey. This glass, he sips at rather than gulps down, his attention briefly flickering to Katarina. He watches for awhile, seemingly amused, before his attention is caught by Marian again. There is a chuckle at something she says quietly to him, and he leans to drop his voice to say something to her quietly. Afterward, he straightens once more, grinning at the small group. "I'm not sure fire dancer is a skill that most people have."

Sparte watches the festivities a little longer before glancing up at the sky to note the hour. Slipping his helmet back on, he heads off to get back to work.

"No, most certainly not," Marian tells Valencia with a shake of her head, "My skills are with the sword, not on the dance floor...and certainly not with flaming chains." She waits till Katarina finishes her dance and then lets out a yell to let her sister know that her performance was well received. She raises her glass to Katarina and takes a drink before returning to her quiet conversation with the Redrain prince.

3 Telmarine Armsmen, Celeste the Realist Messenger, Cora the Optimistic Telmarine arrive, following Percephon.

Larissa watches transfixed as Katarina dances. Being of the Whisper House she was not unused to such entertainment, her house full of dancers and artists of every walk and ilk... but there was something reverent about this dance, something beautiful and full of the life they all came to celebrate. For a few moments the Courtesan let herself fall into the heartbreak of loss and again the bloom of life as the dance writes out the lines of emotion and the story it is meant to tell. - She applauds at all the right moments, cheering for the talented dancer until her feet begin to ache from standing. At that point she flags down one of the servants and has him move a few chairs off to the side, purely coincidental that they are set next to Belladonna. Also, she requests a platter of food to be brought on a small table so that she won't have to keep moving to the buffet... though when everything is laid out and situated she stands with an apologetic grin as she pretends to be called over by someone across the room.. leaving the chairs and food abandoned and untouched next to the Pravus Lady.

Remi focuses on Marian hearing her answer to his question, "Ah I see..And aye, I arrived just as the bloody fucking thing was coming down with m'lads. Fucks don't much know the city and got lost so had to go kick them in the asses until they found the right street." A grin taking shape, "Ya lot fought well though." That said he turns his focus back briefly to the fire dance of Katarina, "So wha' is your sister doing then lass?" The question asked of Marian as he watches the performance. Hearing Valencia the Thrax is looking to her and reaching out to give her hand a light squeeze, "Vixen, I am sure ya could do wonders with them chains and flames with a bit of practice. Who knows maybe the lass there be willing to try and teach ya.. Seen ya dance.. just adds a different partner." His shoulders giving way to a small shrug as he leans back to look from the Southern Princess of the North to Darren. "Maybe not but it damn well should be no?"

Belladonna lifts her hands to applaud for Katarina once she has finished the dancing and the fires are out. Her attention is caught by Larissa's movements nearby, track her as she abandons it all. She chuckles after a moment and slips over to sit down without protest, leaning back in the chair and breathing out a hefty sigh.

The tall, lithe figure of the Oathlander scholar steps into the park, Percephon's dark auburn hair fitting in quite well with the flicker of fire light. The dark gaze of the man sweeps over the crowds gathered, and his stern features offer little insight to his thoughts. They seem, however, to rest with finding something to drink, given the way he gravitates towards one of the servers, plucking up a glass of juice rather than anything alcoholic.

Sudara also joins in the warm applause - though her own observation of the dance was almost as much assessing as it was evidently appreciative, the widow occasionally hinting at dance moves of her own as she shifted in her seat.

Katarina surrenders her chains to her lady's maid, her blush-painted cheeks dimpling with her embarrassed smile whilst her torso dips in gentle bow toward the crowd. "Thank you, thank you. I hope you're all enjoying the feast we've put together," she calls, before taking a moment to find her slippers and rejoin Belladonna's side. "Have you eaten something, my lady?" comes her natural concern expressed hushedly to the Duchess, a bright smile aimed toward the others. "I hope everyone's enjoying themselves so far?"

Darren breaks from his quiet conversation with Princess Marian to lightly applaud for Katarina, smirking over to Remi. "You think fire dancing is a skill more people should have? Perhaps. It would certainly make things a lot more interesting," he laughs a little. "Or .. more dangerous. All those fire dancers, might burn down the whole city."

Nicia'd stopped by the party earlier, but hadn't stuck around long. This time around she doesn't seem to be in a huge hurry to arrive, her approach to the park and the square in the middle is slow, her hands carefully tucked behind her back. She seems to be fairly somber for the occasion, eyes scanning the area to see who is present.

"I have food," Belladonna assures Katarina softly, giving a little nod in the direction of said food Larissa 'abandoned' for her. "You're doing lovely, sweet one," she adds more softly, offering up a little reassuring smile. "It's beautiful. I will want to see you do that with the fire again, though. That was fascinating." She's settled off to the side with both food and drink, the pregnant woman lounging apparently happily.

The spark of the idea seems to take hold in the little foxes mind it would seem. "Do you think?" she asks glancing from Remi to Darrena and Marian and then to Katarina. "I have played with fire before, but no such as this. If the princess might accept I would be so very eager to learn such a thing," Valencia smiles brightly as Katarina kind goes to see to the other guests' needs. "I can only imagine what it might be light to have that roar near your ear and that kiss of flame across one's skin. I should imagine it would be a lovely thing. Perhaps in the spirit of beauty and cultural exchange she might consent to show me the way of hit?"

Glass in hand, Percephon continues on, his path taking him towards the hostesses of the evening. "Princess Katarina. Duchess Pravus," Down the scholar's head dips into a warm offer of greeting, even if no smile graces his lips. A few glimmers of honeyed flecks soften his dark gaze, his juice glass lifted in a salute. "I did want to make certain I came by to pass on my wishes of the future to you both. It seems, from the whispered murmurs from the crowd, I just missed the interesting bits." The words roll in a dry, humored tone from him, before the nobleman takes a step off to the side to allow others in to speak to them.

Larissa moves over to the table with Darren, Remi and Valencia - pausing on her way to praise Katarina with her dancing. "Tonight you have put all the Whsiper House to shame. I have never seen such a powerful dance, you've honored us all and our memories of those we've lost ... and of those all who are still to come. Thank you for opening yourself up so that we all may celebrate with you." she murmurs quietly, curstsying deeply before letting the woman attend to her sister. - She smiles at Valencia and shakes her head "Good gracious, I'm not sure we could stand the sight of you dancing like that highness" she smiles at Valencia "The beauty of it would break our hearts i fear..." smooth Larissa... so smooth

Nicia spots her sister, her expression lightening just a little as she begins to make her way over towards Belladonna. She offers a bit of an apologetic smile when she nears, but waits her turn to greet her.

Marian gives a chuckle, "I would most certainly cause a fire if I attempted to fire dance." When Valencia expresses wanting to learn, "If you ask, I'm sure Princess Katarina would love to teach you the fire dance." She seems to agree with Remi that the girl would do well with it, "You do have a natural grace about you." She pauses as she notices Percy's arrival and gives him a nod as he heads on over to speak with Katarina and Belladonna.

Sasha sips upon her tea before she softly responds to Arik. A soft smile given to him as she passes her now empty cup off to where it needs to go. A gentle nod is then given before she slowly stands up and takes Arik's offered arm.

The words from Darren have Remi smirking, "Didn't say there might not be problems and we might not loose a few but be a damn fine sight no?" The Thrax sighing as his shoulders shrug, "Just miss the art form is all, They worked a certain beauty with them sorts things out on some of those isles.. make it sing for em in their own way.." The man sighing softly at the thought and memories before his head shakes and he looks to Valencia. The vixen's words have the man giving a few small nods here and there as he listens to her. The man meanwhile pulling free a small vial of ink and a small sharpened quill. The man tugging free moments later with his free hand a strip of parchment laying it out as he scrawls out a quick note. The man exhaling against the parchment as he lifts it up to breath over the ink to try and hasten its drying before he is rolling it. The man replacing the vial and quill into the pouch he pulled them from before handing the parchment to Mischief. The monkey reluctantly handing over the flask before rushing off as Remi says in a near whisper, "Suppose we shall find out soon enough Vixen..My hope is she will."

Katarina loses a vibrant laugh at Darren. "I'd imagine so, if too many people got to swinging around their chains and sticks too fast. It'd be very disasterous." Elbows prop lightly to the edge of the table, content to rest beside Belladonna for the moment as she soaks in the conversations floating around her. Praises are met with demure and chaste embarrassment, small hands coming up to clasp beneath her chin with a gentle bow of her head. "I would be more than happy to teach you, Your Highness," she calls toward Valencia, before Larissa's smooth words has her tittering away alongside her co-hostess, to whom she bows her head in easy agreement. "I would love to, though preferably not with chains again. The heat is a little unnerving when you're doing something complicated. And even then, I'm no expert!"
Percephon receives a fond curl of her mouth, a small hand stretching out to motion the lord scholar to an empty seat along her right. "Oh, you made it! Would you care to join us for dinner? I'm afraid you're a little late on all the flashy festivities, but there's plenty of good company and drink to be had."

Valencia's cheeks flush at Larissa's kind comments, though her eye burn with an impish delight at the thought. "Now, my lovest of Larissas, your words are not exactly keeping me from wishing to stand down from such things. With kind enticements like that, how could I not wish to learn, if only to tempt you to burn, yes?" The little fox offers Larissa a playful wink as she takes up her glass. "I think if my shyness does not preclude me, I just might," she smiles at Marian, another flush and smile find her face. The smile brightens as Percephon arrives and offers him a warm and fond smile and incline of head as he makes his way through the room offering his own greetings.

Mischief arrives, delivering a message to Katarina before departing.

"Very smooth, Larissa," Darren lofts his glass to the Whisper in salute as she praises Valencia's beauty, laughing a little, before he smirks to Marian and Remi both. "I suppose it would be a sight. Until you have men like you and I trying it, and then it goes from a thing of beauty to a thing of disaster," he laughs heartily once more. "Although I guarantee you /I/ would look good doing it." There is a broad grin that continues as Katarina addresses him, before he leans to murmur something to Marian again.

Lifting her chin, Belladonna looks up at Percephon when he offers his greetings. "Thank you," she offers up quietly, not offering protest when the man withdraws again. She smiles at Marian, some touch of relief crossing through her face when she spots Nicia. When her sister hangs back to be polite, the little very pregnant Duchess gestures her over.

Arik bends down a little and will help the other up and then indeed takes her arm in his own to walk with her much as they had come, before nodding to lead the way.

Sir Rodrick, a Valardin Knight, Arik leave, following Sasha.

Valencia gives a little laugh, "A beautiful disaster? It sounds perfect for me," the little raven-haired princess grins to Darren. "I should love to learn at your knee Princess Katarina. At your call I will be a most able and adoring student of your art. Please call on me, yes?"

There's a very quick look around before Nicia finishes the approach to her sister, leaning down to give Belladonna a quick kiss on the cheek, "Such a good turn out, isn't it?" She wonders, carefully gathering her skirt close to her legs before she crouches down next to her, one arm settling across her raised knees, a hint of a smile teasing at the corners of her lips.

Percephon's glass is lifted again, this time towards first Marian and then Valencia, a silent but warm acknowledgement to the two. It's then he finally takes a small drink, "Good company? I have no doubt there is, Princess Katarina, if only I had some of my own to offer in exchange." The dry, self depreciating with of the scholar has hsi focus placed back to his immediate group. "Lady Lianne speaks very highly of you, Duchess Pravus." And then it's on to Nicia as she nears, a dip of his head offered to her as well in welcome.

Nicia inclines her head to Percephon, a smile offered in return to him, "Hello." She offers for quick greeting before falling silent again.

Larissa gives a bow to Darren "Thank you, thank you Highness. It's true I am gifted with flawless charm, though a burden at times I try to bear it well." she deadpan, though her lips are twitching as she takes her seat and withing moments she's giggling- at least until Valencia responds and then the Whsiper actually blushes. Good heavens. "I would be so lucky to burn at the end of your light" she responds before turning to quirk a brow to Remi and Darren "However I might truly prefer to see the Princes try even more. I can already see Prince Darren attacking the flames as though they were a rampant bear"

2 Redoubt Buccaneers, Minnow, the Boarhound-Mastiff Mix, Koi, the Boarhound-Mastiff Mix arrive, following Ariel.

Castanea, a black mare with purple livery with foxes arrives, following Ophelia.

Castanea, a black mare with purple livery with foxes leaves, following Ophelia.

Tilting her head to receive the kiss to her cheek, Belladonna nods for Nicia's question. "It is," she agrees quietly. Percephon's remark has her nodding for him, as well. "I hope that I do not disappoint," she answers, sitting up just a bit. When he looks on to Nicia she relaxes again, smiling for her sister before she looks over to Katarina again. "This has been perfect," she points out quietly. "Well done."

Valencia offers a playful smile to Percephon and smiles to see Nicia return. "Now this is something I would see. Prince Darren and Prince Remi dancing with flames. I think I would be well outshone but these two gentlemen," she grins playfully. She smile again to take up cup, however, as always just when interesting things are going on, a messenger arrives and begins making his way to the Princess. It is almost by instinct that Valencia turn to look over her shoulder to see them approach. She smiles apologetically as the conversation is interrupted and she turns to take the note, offering the man thanks by word and coin.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Valencia before departing.

Ariel gracefully walks into the celebration, better later than never. A smile curls her lips as she looks about and only grows all the more as she spots Malesh. She draws closer to him as she says "Marquis Malesh, are you enjoying yourself? Who all have you had the chance to meet?"

Remi watches after Mischief as the monkey runs off with his short message. The Prince though doesn't let his gaze to linger for long. Instead he is turning to look to Larissa. A small smile edged in mischief curling his lips, "You should see the vixen move, Few dance with her grace or beauty. A sight to behold, Add fire and well." The man gives a small exagerated shiver before he is glancing to Valencia giving the vixen a quick wink as his smile turns playful. "I do hope she considers sharing her art with you lass.." Finally his attention is turning to Darren and he shakes his head, laughter not sounding out though it does show in his eyes as he looks to the Redrain Nobleman. "Not so sure about tha' lad, I mean.. I can be graceful when I want or have t'be. Mean fuck, not much good doing things in the rigging if'n you don't got a bit of grace to ya."

Marian gives a short laugh and claps in agreement with Larissa, "Yes...Prince Darren and Prince Remi...you must avail us with your fire dancing skills." She can't stop smiling at that image in her mind. She giving a teasing look to Katarina and calls to her, "My dear sister, your teaching skills might be needed in the near future." She was about to say more to Valencia but the princess gets distracted by a messenger so she turns her attention back to the two men at the table, "Now...if you actually take lessons and dance with fire, I promise...only a little...that I will not wager that one of you gets burned."

"Percephon. Lord Percephon Telmar, if you wish to be precise." The scholar offers to Nicia, before one dark brow is arched upwards towards Belladona. His words are cryptic but full of humor, "I never rush to judgement. But so far? So good." Those dark eyes drift onwards, his glass held close to his chest as his focus flits back to Valencia and Marian, and then the group with them. A dip of his head towards Darren in silent acknowledgement, it is Remi and larissa that are studied for a few moments longer, details commited to memory.

"I bet you and Prince Remi would do quite nicely with fire dancing," chimes Katarina in to the collective girlish agreements that the two princes would be legendary badasses at swinging around flaming things for art. Her attention shifts back to the companions that flank her, her small smile transformed into a truly appeased one at Belladonna's praise. "I am glad. I wished you to have something memorable before you're due to leave the city." Her hand attempts to discreetly pull Percephon's drink toward her mouth, sipping curiously at its contents in hopes that it might be alcohol. Meanwhile, the ever perspective eyes of the Valardin soon take notice of Malesh and Ariel out there, to whom she beckons to join the happy feast with a bubbly laugh. "Come and pull up a chair! There is still plenty to drink and eat, if you wish to join."

"I'm not doing a fire dance for any of you, no matter how cute some of you may look when you ask," Darren scoffs at the thought, though he grins rather big, leaning back in his chair with a laugh. There is a glance to Percephon, and his silent nod of acknowledgement is readily returned, before the High Lord of Redrain gulps what is left of his whiskey. And then he rises, and stretches to his full height. "Besides, I need to be going back to the Villa." Then, he dips his head to Marian, "Perhaps we'll meet again soon, eh? I'm sure there's another party just around the corner from this one."

Nicia lifts a hand to give a wave towards Valencia, offering her a smile in return before her attention is caught by the introduction, "Lady Nicia Pravus." She offers in return, inclining her head to him before she glances at Bella, something about what she says causing her to laugh just a little, turning her attention back to Percephon, "You are enjoying yourself?"

Malesh is apparently a busy man, being all over the city all the time since his post-siege arrival. So he is here, moving quickly through the park being a man on a mission. He may not have time for parties but he does have time for donations, if he can just figure out where to offer them.

Caught up in watching, Percephon's head dips towards Ariel at her arrival, and then shifts to Malesh, studying the fellow in turn. It allows Katarina to draw away his drink easily enough, though she'll be disappointed that it's all just orange juice. Without alcohol. What sort of heathen is he, anyway?! "A pleasure to meet you, Lady Nicia. Me? I've just arrived, so I've hardly had a chance to establish any sort of perspective on my enjoyment. Given I missed the fire dancing? I'm certain I'll leave with a twinge of disappointment." The honest assessment is given unabashedly, though there is a quirk of playful humor to offset it all.

Katarina checked dexterity + stealth at difficulty 15, rolling 6 higher.

"Perhaps that would be a most excellent fundraiser if the Princes might agree to it and the Princess Katerina assists in their training, yes?" Valencia muses playfully. "Your highnesses, we should talk, yes? There is much chartiable work to do, yes? And the Hart can always use more support for good causes. Just so." Taking a moment , the petite dark eyed princess reads the missive and sighs a little. She leans over to speak quietly with Darren and then to Remi. She then turns to smile at her hosts, "Princess Katarina, Princess Marian, I thank you for your gracious hospitality but I must go for now." The little princess rises and offers a warm nod, "I apologize. I have a meeting to attend to."

Fortunato treads in steady, a canvas-wrapped board beneath his arm. As is often his wont, he tucks himself on the periphery to sketch, the loose-drawn forms of the participants, impressions of expression, social and asocial knots.

#SpikedDrinksAlert. When the citric-flavored beverage assaults her tongue with its orange-yness, Katarina squints her eyes dubiously at Percephon and quickly grabs hold of a small flask of whisky. She pours a few generous splashes within the cup and quickly swishes it about before setting it in the lord scholar's grasp. Her hand rises in parting wave toward Darren and Valencia as both Redrain mention the time of their departure near. "Alright, Your Highnesses. Thank you, so much, for coming out to enjoy the festivities with us!"

"It is certainly that," Belladonna promises Katarina, looking around for a moment at the cluster of people. Eventually she scoots forward on her chair to the edge, leveraging herself up on one of the arms. "Excuse me," she offers to the closest person between her and her escape.
