Relationship Note on Fergus

I will admit that I was for a time very sad that Princess Marian's heart took her to the Redrain family. But in the short time since they have been wed I have quickly learned, though we have to share Princess Marian now, that we have not lost her. Instead we seem to have gained a Fergus, and that has been a very good trade.

Despite all our differences at times, I am very glad this is bringing us closer to the Redrain.

Relationship Note on Alaric

I did not get to spend much time with the awakened king at the boar inn... But it was a pleasant enough time with my kinsman none the same.

The wind moves, the earth cools. and days pass by as they will. But what we do in those days is what will define us. And I hope I define myself as all, to find happiness in this world.

Relationship Note on Valencia

More and more I find myself drawn into the heat that builds between us. The longing looks, the way she so easily walks with me, arm in mine so that we may discuss the daily happenings and consider what we will be doing for the rest of the evening. Her hound, my fox, a hunt that will be told a thousand different ways and only the true one is the one we would make together.

Relationship Note on Shae

I got to give Shae her first riding lesson on my elk, Kieran. He was very good and very patient when it came to her learning the basics of what to do. I look forward to teaching her to ride more. Fia beat me to asking Marius if she could have an Elk from our family stock. I hope he says yes. She would truly care for the elk like we do. The elk would be a fine mount for her as well!

Relationship Note on Jael

Squaell appears to be the perfect combination of Squaller and Squealer.

I do believe that I should not tempt the gods on this one. As my wife has pointed out, there may be an uprising against us.

I am humbled by the honor that was bestowed to us in House Keaton. It has been requested of us to supply a choice Keaton hound as a gift for the Descent into the Night, the White Ball. One of our hounds will be shown in *THE* social event. I will be asking my cousins if they have interest in traveling to Oakhaven to personally select the bloodhound and ensure its safe arrival within Arx in a timely fashion.

Squaell? Squaell Keaton? Hmmmm.

Are we worried about them rising up against us later in life? I mean, thankfully there is no child yet to name. Though I have to admit 'Keaton's Purple Squaller' is still my favorite baby name by far.

It's been a while since I have written anything. I have not had much reason to write much of note lately, nothing new that I'd care to share or that Vellichor's likely to be interested in. No point in preserving much of it for the ages to come. I've been looking to better myself, as one does, but life's comfortable enough, and I've been busy enough with this and that to keep from going out looking for trouble. Not that I ever do.

Heron Hall looks more like my proper home every day. There are many things I did not bother to send for when I was lodging at the Badger, but now they have been shipped and unpacked and my room looks like my own place. I have even acquired artwork. The trees do not look very much like actual trees, but they amuse me. Thesarin and Lord Nigel are here, and Countess Mia runs the house with all the unstoppable efficiency she showed for things at the Twainfort. Tikva is a Grayson now, which feels odd to write, but I wish my dearest friend the best, and I know she is respected and loved there. I wish her happiness and shall make a point of seeing her and Tiber often even if we are not under the same roof. I had for so long been rooted to one place that it takes me aback to take an account of how much of my life has shifted here over the past year. Lagoma changes you without you realizing it. I have accepted that it is good change and that I am happy in it.

Not that there aren't shadows in the back of my thoughts. Much danger still lurks in this world and I pray I'm strong enough to face it and protect those I love. By Gloria, I shall try.

I met Prince Tyrval for the first time recently. To say that I found him to be surprising was an understatement. He was vastly different than what I know and have witnessed of the Nox'Alfar or the residents of the Twilight Court. He was stoic, albeit the hand-puppet that he had on, well, hand...was an odd taste. Beyond that simple affectation of his? He seemed most reasonable and even personable.

Relationship Note on Ainsley

Aside from the vows that were traditional in our ceremony, I included these, and now chronicle them in my white journal:

I give you my solemn oath, before Limerance, that I will protect you, my husband, as I will protect your children, and your family.

I give you my solemn oath, before Limerance, that I will allow you to protect me, as you will protect my children, and our family.

I promise to love you with all the power of my heart. I promise to honor your worth with every fragment of my being. And though ours is a love match with all the passion of our beating hearts, if love one day is not enough, I swear to you and to Limerance that honor and duty will always be.

I swear to be the mother to your children, the mother that they deserve, that I will never abandon them, or forget them, or leave them behind.

I promise my service to your House, with everything that I have and everything that I am. I promise never to forget the houses that I come from, but that none shall be greater than Grayson to me. I promise I will never forget the duty I will owe our vassals in the house of their liege.

I promise I will do my utmost to be a Princess worthy of the title.

I love you.

It's always very odd to see someone bring something bearing my mother's signature to my attention so long after she's moved on from this world. I wonder what it is this time.

In the same breath though it's peculiar to question whether my House will uphold oaths and it's own honor. What would someone say? No? I mean, there are of course plenty of stupid people in the world that would impugn their own honor or that of their House in an effort to, I don't know, be able to boast at killing the defenseless? I am thankfully not one of them.

Now to sort out this legal matter and see how I can make it go away expeditiously.

I've done several charcoal drawings this week that I'm rather proud of and put a lot of work into.

And yet... what people really seem to have enjoyed is paintings of trees.

I'm surprised there weren't more takers for the cat.

Princess Alis was kind enough to set us up with a chateau in Mount Blancbier after winning the honeymoon race. It has been a relaxing adventure. Truly the hospitality of the Wyrmguard family in the area is unmatched.

I highly recommend dinner in a wine or whiskey cellar for anyone who has never done so. It was a welcomed change of pace.
