Today had promised to be frightfully boring to start. Woke up earlier than I'd like, stretched and performed some routine exercises even though I always say I hate doing it, then sat down to a bland breakfast. Do I look like a toothless granny? Who wants oats on a hot day like this, anyway? Where's the fruit? My chilled milk with honey? What's wrong with these people?
After that, I took a walk. A dog shat in the street and a preening noblewoman shoved her foot right in it, much to her horror. That was probably a loss of a couple hundred coins for that little slipper. But it was so last season, so she gets no sympathy from me. Then I approached a painter in the nearby park overlooking the promenade. Curious, I asked what he was painting, he told me it was his lady love seated nearby. He did not seem appreciative when I told him that it looked a lot more like the dog shite I'd just seen.
From there I have little to report. My student continues to disappoint with her sheer lack of skill or mental acuity. Things finally took a turn for the better when I found myself pleasantly distracted by a reasonably attractive Thraxian fellow. Oh, don't be that way, ladies look just as hungrily as do the lords. They just try to hide it. Neither here nor there. Next came a red head, who's name I missed. A shame, really. I'd like to get to know her better.
By the way, the Thraxian turned out to be Victus. You know the one. Got the better of me, too, the way he held out on it. Things progressed okay after that, though I don't suppose I really should have lead him into that Grayson tavern. Guy can really take things a bit too seriously. Had to punch a kid in the face in order to diffuse a situation, and now my hand hurts for my troubles.

Relationship Note on Brianna
Still think a woman being a fighter is a waste of a woman. Fighters die. Fighters have pieces of themselves cut off, inside and out. Take a sword to your face and see how pretty it looks afterwards. Still, I'll give the girl has some fire in her, and might be interesting to cross weapons with a woman. Just to see how it feels. Hm. I've been beaten by smaller men before, don't think I'd enjoy being beaten by a girl. Let's not lose any spars against her.

Relationship Note on Acacia
I've known Acacia since... gods, I don't know. Since we were a pair of little snots running around asking the world to punch us in the face. And then she left, and that sucked. And I was pissed and boy was I pissed. I wanted to pull her hair and punch her in the face. Yes, pull her hair. But now she's back, and she's pretty and nice and I kinda missed her. So having her around is great. Sure, she's like, all wrapped up with the Cullers and I want nothing of that part of it, but she makes me smile. Like really smile. Like I want to punch her in the face for making me smile, smile. She's my friend, and I don't call a lot of people that, but, of all the things she is, she's definitely that.

I've been visiting the Shrine of Gloria. I can't say I'm a man of faith, but don't see any reason insult the Goddess. I'm ridding myself of my trophies one every day. Got drunk with a grayback mercenary. Don't recall too much about it, except I think I'm gonna have to chop his head off if he keeps referring to himself as Valerius' twin brother. The relationship between Cain and me? It's not really anyone's business, is it? ... He's a good guy. Or maybe just good at what he does? I mean, yeah, sure. We spend a fair amount of time together, but we've known each other since we were kids. That's how it works down here. Maybe I'm just superstitious and think he does good work? Either way. If you want my advice? Talk to him, get to know him, enjoy him -- he's well worth it, really. Just don't fuck with him. I have it from a good source that he knows people that might even kill for him.

Relationship Note on Dagon
Prince Dagon Thrax. What can I say about the future Prince of Maelstrom that hasn't been said before? He's tall, handsome, dashing, chivalrous. He's something of an enigma when it comes to the men of House Thrax. They pride themselves on being rough and gruff, or just warmongering brutes. Dagon doesn't seem to be that sort of man. Looks can be deceiving, though. I'm looking forward to peeling off all those layers.. to figure out if he's truly Thraxian deep down.

Relationship Note on Margot
Margot is a true and dear friend to me. Yes, I know her parents are responsible for the death of mine, and they were punished for that. I do not blame her for it, and actually see her as an asset for House Thrax much like my sister Donella is. I am uncertain about what the future may bring, but when I am Prince of Maelstrom, I will try to make sure to keep her close to the family.

I met Edain at the Ambassador quite by chance, he was very sympathetic to my plight, both the hang over and the frustrations with trade negotiations. Still I wonder, is he really as kind as he seems? Can someone so seemingly nice and guileless really survive let alone prosper as a High Lord?

Hosted a card game at the Hundred Cities Inn, turn out was good but very varied. With fur covered northerns mixing with commoners and more refined individuals. Got to meet Kieran and Fergus, royals from the North and Valencia's in laws, also discovered Luca is completely terrible at cards.

Ravna? Tch. What did he do this time? Ravna has a certain aura which draws people in. It's the damndest thing, really. Perhaps with anyone else, some of his antics would get him killed early, and I'm not saying that won't happen at some point or another either. But generally speaking? People find it interesting, curious, even charming sometimes? He has a way with words and stories which are just outlandish enough to wonder if they're actually true or if he's merely mincing things around. But either way, he's a Culler, in some way or another, and that's the only true important thing, isn't it?
