Philippe, Savio arrive, following Orland.

Nevermore, the sulking raven, 3 Fidante House Guards arrive, following Narcissa.

Dolente, a mourning dove, Dolce, a collared dove arrive, following Cesare.

Narcissa has joined the garden bench with gilded arbor canopy and rose trellis.

2 Farshaw trained guards, Suzette - a Westrock Aerie Page arrive, following Ryhalt.

Jerome, a bodyguard, 2 Valardin Knights arrive, following Isabeau.

Gulls call from the sky, drowned out by the sounds of the crowds as they mingle along the wide band of beach that houses the festival. A small troupe of jugglers are entertaining people near the 'entrance' to the bustling celebration.

Cheers and applause erupt from the far end of the array of tents and people. Congratulating whomever was on stage for their performance.

The sounds of vendors calling for potential customers occasionally raises and crests above the crowd[ like breaking waves. Wine, water and flows freely. There is a festival cheer that is thick in the area, a bulwark against darker times giving the whole air of the affair something magical as only a celebration like this can.

In clothing that is part clothing and part armor, chains of rubicund adorning fabric and flesh alike, Isabeau steps onto the beach in her very extremely Oathlander get-up. Militant by definition, her garb is still feminine and worn with confidence, every inch of her the Duchess-consort and Voice of the Telmar.

With her raven on her shoulder and trio of guards in Fidante livery trailing not far behind, Narcissa arrives on the beach just in time for the festival. The Voice has donned armor rather than a gown for once, still in her preffered dark hues. She approaches Aconites and murmurs something quietly to her protege before moving to find a bench to claim.

Maren seems to enjoy unhurriedly making her way along the sands, taking in the diverse and beautiful array of people as much as the cooperative weather and the loveliness of the sea. The silvery-haired elder appears to be making this jaunt solo, her expression light and curious. There is an occasional flutter of fabric as it's caught by the ocean breeze, the style of her clothing not-completely-Arvani; probably like others in the crowd as well.

Bonnie showed up as her usual self, leathers and the works; looking piratey as ever. She had already found something to drink, a cup in hand, occasionally sipping from it while brown hues searched around the area. She noticed the Duchess Isabeau, walking over to give a friendly hello, "Hello Duchess Isabeau, nice place for ah festival, huh?" she grinned. "Really tha beaches are ah nice place fer anythin', ah like to think."

Ryhalt strolls down the beach towards the festival, in no particular hurry. He chats quietly with his page, smiling.

As is usual for his attendance at fashionable events, Savio is not arriving on his own, but on the arm of Orland! Both have instrument cases with them, suggesting they're meant to be pert of the festival entertainment. Savio is very much not dressed in Arvani attire; instead, he's wearing robes of yards and yards of carefully draped and pinned fabric. A formal style from a far-away home in the Saffron Chain! He looks unhurried as they walk, charmed by the festival as though he hasn't been to too many that are exactly like this. "Oh, look, little tents. Whatever's going on in there must be truly in-tents, I don't know if I can handle it! Hah. Oh look! Food!"

Orland puts a tacky painting of an angry unicorn, smelling of Setarco Fire in superbly crafted offering chest.

A smile aside at Bonnie, a hand raising in a hand that causes the decorative chainmail of her garb to tinkle and clink together, "Lady Bonnie, it is. I just wish Oathlander fashion weren't bound to get so hot outside." She gives a rueful look down at her gown, and then back to Bonnie. "How are you, my Lady?"

Orland gets a fine wooden lute from red double-wrap swordbelt with gilded details.

Aconite drops Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Bonnie's rouged lips curled ever so slightly at that, "Ahm doin' tha best ah can be, Duchess." she chuckles, "At least your beautiful even if ya do sweat, that's tha important part." she says softly raising a finger in retort, accompanied with a wink. "An' yourself this fine day?"

Isabeau gets Lightly floating nearly dancing silk scarf from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Cesare doesn't /look/ like a storm. On the contrary - he looks like the rosy, lambent hues of dawn, although there is some particular warning about red skies at morning and sailors; but there's an air about him as though a storm is gathering. Latent electricity, almost staticky, buzzing around him despite the overall humidity of the weather. His hair floats after him, more tightly-curled than usual in loose ringlets rather than gentle waves, and he carries a lyre. His expression is a rather paradoxical one, tremendously focused but not on anything that's actually present - until he actually manages to be brought back into the moment by the buzz of chatter and that expression shifts to something more familiar. The perfectly pleasant, unfailingly polite, charming mien of a Whisper at work.

Orland is dressed rather elegantly, almost as if he were going to a Celestial Ball. Let's not be too judgy, it's not the exact same outfit - he's wearing more knives tonight. The Amadeo Lord though is escorting the Proscipi Lord yet again, no surprise there. He is shouldering a lute and looks as if he's probably going to perform at some point. "Do you know where we're supposed to be?"

Kenjay gets Lightly floating nearly dancing silk scarf from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

ST: Another cheer and shrieks of appreciation come from the direction of a stage nearby the center tent. Inside a pair of siblings are performing an amazing side by side dance which involves some impressive feats of flexibility.

Throughout the crowd there are people who've taken to dressing themselves in elaborate and exotic costumes. Some buttoned up in costumes that seem to mock the summer sun while others are garbed in rippling silks that revel in the draw of the ocean breeze.

There are notable exceptions though and Isabeau draws eyes and even applause from people amazed by the cut and quality. A stunning example of her culture which draws appreciation from people from all over Arvum. Nina is ever crowded with the awe of the Compact for her many well known creations can't seem to keep the Courtiers from crowding to gawk at her lovely attire. The Bard Savio draws compliments and people stopping to ask about the gilded and glittering aeterna.

Aconite leans in to smile to Narcissa and she touches the Noblewoman's arm. "Thank you for coming." Waving as the Fidante woman moves off. She's back to busily offering out gifts from the large trunk set up in the back of the tent.

At the large stage they seem to be preparing it for a dance, moving away stools and seats from the band that has just vacated. People crowd to see who will be performing.

Kenjay arrives quietly, the man wearing scarlet and orange silks of a Eurusi cut, with a few pieces of armour never designed by an Arvani smith. This is, for anyone who's seen him before, perfectly ordinary for the man - as are the two Redrain-liveried guards who follow in his wake.

Savio takes Tightly woven crown of ivy from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Nina has not been to a party in a while, and is eager to take part in this one! She arrives in a dress she crafted specifically for this event - one of flowing summery teal blue, with delicate golden embroidery. The bright colors match well with her red hair, as it picks up the sunlight and scatters it about. Nina has not prepared a show for this evening but she's eager to see what performers there might be! Nina chooses a scarf that matches her current gown, wrapping it around her shoulder, and smiling graciously at onlookers who ask about her latest work of craftsmanship.

Ryhalt gets Tightly woven crown of ivy from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

"Oh, I'm quite happy to be here, really, my Lady. I spent the morning with little Sophia watching some people at the Gauntlet. Have you come to it before?" Isabeau asks Bonnie with a slight raise of her eyebrows. A smile curves her lips and her head dips in a slight nod as she notices some of her personal admirers. Oathlander fashion is perhaps not as stylish or trending as many, but it is elegant and striking and the cut of it makes a decided statement.

"I should have you and Duke Shepherd over if you haven't. We could have a picnic and make a day of it."

Not familiar with the beaches, or the area outside the city gate, Cassiopeia wanders down to where she no doubt sees a crowd of people, and hears the sounds of celebration. The sights of which shift her expression to one of curiosity and wonder. It wakens her features, and she walks across the sand to where she sees the eye of the party, to be. As favours are handed out, she stops to select a scarf. While it doesn't match her outfit per-say, it doesn't clash, and it compliments her eyes. The tall blonde, wraps it around one of her bare arms, and holds onto the end. It's hard to recognize or pull people out of such a large crowd, but her eyes eventually fall on a few familiar faces, and a warm smile extends their way.

Maren is unable to resist one of the instruments, gently examining one of the drums before claiming one in blue. "How delightful," she murmurs. There's an experimental tap to gauge the sound, though not so loud as to disturb any nearby performances. The resonant note draws another brilliant smile to her lips, before she continues with peoplewatching.

"Ohhh, Orland, party favors!" This is on brand for both of them, Orland wants to make sure they're on time for whatever they are doing, and Savio is totally distracted by shiny things, beautiful people, the occasional question about his attire. He waves at Cesare and Cassiopeia in a fashion that invites joining, if the Whisper and his cousin are so inclined, and then steers Orland to join him in taking a seat at a table.

"Whisper Aconite will be around here somewhere." He is settling his new crown on his head. King of the ivy. "I'm sure she will cue us as to when to perform. Do you want to go first up?"

Savio has joined the Wooden Picnic Table.

Orland has joined the Wooden Picnic Table.

Emberly gets Tightly woven crown of ivy from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Winter, A Highhill Puppy arrives, following Kiera.

Bonnie canted her head to the side, "Ah actually don't believe ah have ta be honest. But it sounds nice, perhaps we shall. These days ahm spendin' most of my time at the docks gettin' ready for ah little exploration, Prince Raimon, I an' others are doin."

ST:

On the Large Stage:

With Lord Martino, Lady Kaia Malvici and Anisha Whisper in a small circle with each other, the three are holding hand-in-hand at the center of room. Slotting closer together, Anisha positions herself between Lord Martino and Lady Kaia as he is wrapping his left hand into Kaia's right.

Stepping smoothly to the left, the left hand of Kaia rests upon Anisha's hip to guide the pace as the three move. Intimately close, Martino's chest upon Anisha's back while her own upon Kaia's deviously dipped gown. A pivot, fluid, as the three turn on their toes. The dancing flows with a slight sway of the hips as the space across the dancefloor is put to full use. With the three circling and spinning gradually faster to the middle, they pause in the middle.

Finishing, Martino's hand moves to draw Kaia's right behind her back allowing her to dip with a swan like grace. Her own leading to Anisha's upper arm to have the two dip together upon the floor while Lord Martino's supporting the two in the final pause. All until breathlessly straightening and dipping their chins to the collected guests.

Orland side glances at Savio's excitement for party favors, "I think we should ---" and he's lost Savio to the allure of shiny things! The Amadeo cannot help but wander along with, nodding to Cesare and spotting Cassiopeia simply for the fact that Savio pays them attention, so too shall he! Somedays it's hard to figure out who is following who! At the moment, Orland is with Savio at the goodies, and finds himself playing on the drums a bit. Drumming up business! He nods to one and has Philippe bundle it up to go! Once steered to a table, he sits too, "I don't mind going first. I think it's better than going last."

"I mean ..." he adds on as he notices the stage, "I guess when ever we're called." Orland corrects as he watches the performance.

Catching Savio's wave, not difficult at her height, her smile brightens and Cassiopeia diverts her path towards the picnic table he sits on. The smile grows as she sees Orland, and she offers they both a dip of her head, as she slips into a spot at the table. "Savio, Orland, you both look incredible," she says as she takes in those at the table.

Cassiopeia has joined the Wooden Picnic Table.

Emberly enters the beaches as she finds the crowns and she smiles shifting one to her head, she shifts a little as she moves a little through the sands, she was close to where Lord Martino was performing so she can watch him and his lovely ladies perform. She smiles watching the three and she breathlessly turns when she hears Orland's voice. She nods her head his way before weaving herself through the sea of people

Orick arrives, as promised, and as he moves through the crowd some decadently dressed someone hands him an ivy crown. He looks at, quite puzzled, and then the show starts up and his attention is diverted to the stage. The crown, is worn. And he's here, not to find Aconite.. he continues to maneuver his way politely through the crowd with sheepish, "Pardon mes." And apologetic, "Just behind yous."

Narcissa applauds the performances politely from her bench after each one concludes, her expression remaining one of a polite smile. Her golden eyes scan the fesitival goes with a detached curiosity, her mind clearly consumed elsewhere.

Orick takes Tightly woven crown of ivy from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Ryhalt stops by the main stage to watch the performance. He claps his appreciation. Suzette murmurs something to him, sounding worried, and he chuckles. "She won't know, it'll be fine."

Maren pauses in her wanderings to watch the dancers, her smile softening to one closer to nostalgia, her gaze almost dreamy, as if seeing not only the present but some more distant past. Whe the performance is done, she joins in the applause, with unfeigned enthusiasm, before tapping out an short echoing rhythm on the drum that probably carries further than her clapping.

ST:

The strong scent of mingled spices wafts on the breeze. In the crowd near Cassiopeia a group of youths bust into spontaneous dance as one of the on foot musicians sets a beat they just cannot resist.

Aconite is in the center booth, her brilliant outfit having drawn many compliments, always met with the praise of Caprice, Evaristo and Zahkar who had helped her build the stunning ensemble. However as if on cue she corrects, "Apprentice Whisper.. Hello Lord Savio, Lord Orland, I'm happy you could make it." She says as they take their prizes.

The dancers on the large stage have the audience captive at their daring display.

Offering applause, Isabeau smiles as she watches the goings ons on the stage. She catches sight of Ryhalt and raises a hand in a greeting wave, her head lowering into a polite dip.

Whatever he's herald of, dawn or a coming storm, Cesare catches Savio's wave from the corner of his eye and glides over to join the picnic bench of weirdos, I mean, beautiful and charming people. Settling elegantly with straight-backed poise that somewhat belies the rather carefree nature of the gathering - he sort of looks like he's getting ready to be called on by teacher - he offers Savio and Orland each a small smile, fingerwaving at them both and then turning to watch the presentation of dance onstage.

Kiera takes Lightly floating nearly dancing silk scarf from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

In a break between performances, Ryhalt looks about the crowd and smiles in return to Isabeau as he notices her greeting. "Hello, Duchess-Consort Isabeau. Enjoying the festivities thus far?"

Orland reaches out to clasp his hand to interlock his fingers with Savio, his eyes darting up at Cassiopeia, "Thank you. I... this isn't new, but it's new enough." Meaning he probably couldn't afford a new fancy outfit for tonight, be happy he has a nice vest people. "You look wonderful too," he says with a polite baritone, his gaze sweeping to Cesare in which he upnods at the finger wiggles, spotting Emberly as well and a few more familiar faces and a ton of unfamiliar faces.

Kenjay takes a floaty scarf with a smile, pauses to exchange a few words with someone, then turns to watch the dancers. He applauds the dancers on the stage, his smile brightening as he does so, and then he's turning to look at the booths. "Apprentice Whisper Aconite," he greets the woman, his Arvani tinged at the edges with Eurus.

Orland has joined the line.

Cesare has joined the Wooden Picnic Table.

"I am, my lord," Isabeau answers as she steps a little closer to Ryhalt. "I was in a bit of a scramble to twist arms to get the jewelry done to represent the Oathlands' properly." She offers a smile and a gentle dip of her head to the man as she scans the crowd, "And how are you and yours, Duke Farshaw?" She asks with utter politeness.

Ryhalt grins broadly. "Good! Ha! I do not envy the pressure on you women to have the latest fabric, the most spectacular bauble. Is there a dearth of jewelers in town?" His merchant-mind is hearing coins! "What piece did you get to represent the Oathlands?" He looks over her collection of jewelry curiously. "We're doing well, thank you. Steadily working towards various projects, survived the war. How are you and Telmar?"

Kiera drifts into the gathering looking around at the sights, sounds, and smiles of the festival. It's a good thing the hostess is standing in the middle or else she would be uncertain where to turn her attention first. as it is, she heads for aconte and the chest, taking a scarf from it as the whisper convers with kenjeu "Truly a feast for the senses apprentice whisper aconite. Good evening your highness"

"Only those that take commissions, but no. I wanted a specific set. And... well. The whole of the outfit, dress, jewelry, all of it. It's rather my serious Duchess-ing clothes." Isabeau tells Ryhalt with evident amusement in her tone. She dips her nod and smiles at the question of her land, "We're well enough, handling some business and I'm planning a tour to visit the Duchy and different counties of it before too long."

Orick eventually makes his way over to the Center Booth and he find a place off to the side where he can talk quietly with Aconite and not be underfoot as others stop by for their door prizes. The ivy crown atop his head sits at a jaunty angle in his messy hair and his demeanor is unassuming, almost sheepish-- making sure to move out of the way or glance back to the stage whenever anyone else tries to get the Hostess' attention.

Spotting Orick the Hostess waves but expects he wont see her in the press of the crowd. "You made it!" Aco beams to Kenjay. Her outfit of floating oranges, yellows with complimenting colors is cut in Rurusi style. "So have you decided if you'll perform, Your Highness? I hear tomorrow night Princess Katarina will be honoring us with a dance!" Keira's greeting is met likewise, "It's a pleasure to see you, Lady Wyvernheart. A feast I cannot seem to fill up on. Are you planning on enjoying any of the wonderful foods, I suggest the Dolmas."

ST:

Over near where the surf plays along the sand there's a small scuffle but it's handled quickly before the security that the Whispers hired even needs to get involved. Good natured friends dragging the two apart to find something to distract and delight their fiercely tipsy companions.

Right next to Maren a lively looking older woman calls out to sell her dancing ribbons and glass baubles to a cluster of Courtiers distracted and marveling at some of the influential displays of cultural fashion.

As the Malvici dancers clear off the stage a jester of a man hops up on stage and after a little jig he calls out. "Our next act ? The much anticipated artistry of the Lord-Bard Savio Proscipi and Lord Orland Amadeo!" A cheer goes up in front of the crowd, though there are some mixed sentiments amidst the nobility, but the people remember who won the People's Choice and chant in their eagerness.

Zakhar takes a playful crown of carrots in dirt from superbly crafted offering chest.

Zakhar puts a playful crown of carrots in dirt in superbly crafted offering chest.

Zakhar puts Yellow long tailed knitted scarf with braided knot pattern in superbly crafted offering chest.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Isabeau before departing.

Nina applauds the performance on the grand stage, truly enthusiastic to see the showmanship on display. Nina finds herself a seat, and folds her skirts under her. A second later, her assistant and favorite flute-player comes over to hand her a small glass of wine and a paper-wrapped baklava. Nina is of course gracious to recieve it, but she's attentive to the stage.

Savio makes his way to the stage, along with Orland, and with a very strange instrument in hand. It's a sort of bowed lute with a round body, but it is played seated, the base on a long spindle to prop it against the ground while the player operates the frets and bow. (OOC, it's a kamancheh!).

"Hello all," Savio greets those who may be listening in the crowd, with the usual question he has for such gatherings, "Who even gave you permission to be so beautiful?" No one. They are all criminally lovely. Taking a careful seat with the instrument, he introduces, "I am Lord Savio Proscipi, and this is Lord Orland Amadeo. This instrument you see here is from my home of Tremorus; it is the farthest southern holding holding of the Compact, in the Saffron Chain." And recently shattered in a siege against the Skal'adjans. But everyone knows it -- no need to drag that up in a festival. Savio continues, "I will play and sing in Arakkoan, which is the language of my people. Lord Orland will accompany on the lute, our intention is to demonstrate the harmony between Arvum and its prodigal citizens. While you may not understand the words exactly -- I hope you will hear the heart in them, anyway. Please enjoy."

Savio sets his bow to the strings, smiles at Orland in a way that looks like, 'are you ready?' and then begins; the music is strange and a little haunting and pairs well with the lute soon to join it.

Zakhar once again is caught trying to take items from the wrong chest and simply looks at those around him, then drops a lovely knitted scarf in along with a crown that /was/ to be something amusing for later.

Maren joins in the enthusiasm for the duo who is going to take the stage next, though rather than strain her voice the elder woman playfully taps her drum to the rhythm of the chant. But she does fall silent once the performance begins.

Zakhar takes Lightly floating nearly dancing silk scarf from Sling Satchel with bleached thumb bones.

2 House Velenosa Guards arrives, following Benedetto.

Ryhalt nods in understanding of Isabeau's problem. "Ahh, yes, that would make it more difficult." He grins at her. "It looks good." Musing, he nods to her plans to do a tour soon. "with some of the things that cropped up during the war, I am going to do the same. Besides, it's always good to go back home." Glancing towards the stage, he lifts his eyebrows in slight surprise at the premise of the next performance. "Curious choice." Still, he listens with quiet respect, though of one who is very obviously not musically inclined.

Zakhar takes to lighting the small roll and tucking it into the crook of his lip as he walks around the festival. A little grin to all those wearing the crowns and scarves.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Zakhar before departing.

Cesare smiles at Cassiopeia, at the picnic table where they both sit as she speaks to him, and makes to return conversation, but when Savio and Orland take the stage, he falls silent instead, gazing rather raptly in anticipation. The beginning strains of the music draw a lean out of him, as though it's magnetic, his hands clasped neatly in front of himself on the top of the picnic table. Very probably anybody could say anything to him, at the moment, and he wouldn't hear a word of it.

Orland moves up to the stage with Savio, a lute hoisted over his shoulder carried with a strap and swung into his arms as they make it up onto center stage. Unlike the last performance, the Lord Amadeo is not shaking in his literal boots. There's an uncaring confidence about him, with which the eccentricity is clearly belonging to Savio of the pair. He's cool, calm and collected, with a sauve little rake of his hand through his hair before he finds his fingers plucking in an introductory mezzo piano pick, with a tempo that brings a loving charm, like a skirmish of the winds to the words Savio begins with. It's a brisk teaser, one of those bardic riffs which draws the audience's attention behind the words. Playful, but not overly. The charmer. There's even a half quirked grin to the audience, a look that's terribly rougish. Maybe watch your personal possessions after the show, this one is shady and neo-noble!

When Savio is finished with introduction, Orland looks over to Savio, nodding once to encourage a rounded warm stately sound that doesn't compete, but lives with the strange haunting music of Savio's instrument.

"Now this looks like a good time." says Benedetto to one of his guards as he makes his way along. He's carefully picking his way down to the beach. A wide, wicked grin has spread across his face. "I do believe that there is some wine down there... Maybe some of that Setarcan fire stuff we had a couple of years back." The Prince starts making his way to one of the vendors.

Paired with the strings of both instruments, Savio sings in a foreign language -- which is absolutely going to win him no points with the Peerage, probably. But this is about sharing culture, culture is being shared! The melody is lovely, sad, but strong. Something suffered and overcome.

Savio says in Arakkoan, "She was everything to me
A mountain robed in splendor
My Saffron star, my crystal sea
Tremorus, my center

A city made of art and light
Gold towers, emerald domes
Doorways of uncanny height
Tremorus, my home

We are unbound, we are unbroken
We fall and rise again
We are fearless, we have spoken --
This is not the end

Eurus sought to be our master
With cruel, unnatural arts
And so made their attempt to shatter
Tremorus, my heart

We stood alone in seas of blood
Alone, we held the siege
We fought as fiercely as we could
For Tremorus, my queen

We are unbound, we are unbroken
We fall and rise again
We are fearless, we have spoken --
This is not the end

Alone we held our homeland
Alone we're standing tall
We fight, we die, we live again
For Tremorus, my all."

At the conclusion of the song, as the notes still to a close, he doesn't rush them but does let them end -- and then looks to Orland, exhaling a laugh like he is pleased they did it! Then he stands, and bows -- "Thank you, all, and thank you to Whisper-Apprentice Aconite our host and a great credit to Whisper House." Exit stage left!

A beautiful songbird have been dismissed.

Cassiopeia exchanges a smile with Cesare, but much like him, her attention immediately drifts towards Savio and Orland, for their performance. The young woman beams with pride to know them both, her smile growing as they start the performance. As the music begins, the look in her eyes juxtaposes the smile still lingering on her lips. It evokes all sorts of emotions, and they clash within her. Cassiopeia is silent as she watches, twisting her scarf idly with a restless hand. The words are not lost to her, she seems quite able to follow along with the foreign language. A single tear escapes her, trailing down a rosy cheek, staining it briefly as she listens to the song unfold.

Zakhar takes Alteration and Modification toolkit from Sling Satchel with bleached thumb bones.

ST:

No one seems to mind the sand. Blankets are strewn about as the sun climbs higher and people dot the surrounding area watching the festivities from afar before rejoining.

The tends team with acts if what's on the main stage is not to a celebrant's taste.

But the Main Attraction really is that large stage and people fall quiet to listen to Savio, a small murmuring rippling through the crowd at his words and more than a few faces curious about the instruments and Lord Orland.

Zakhar is met with compliments as he passes on being the creator of Aconite's outfit, the scarves and crowns that everyone's wearing, and his own colorful ensemble.

The wine flows, as do all sorts of liquors from a spiced honey wine made by the Eurusi who've settled in Tor to the juniper-based fire-breather gin from the northern reaches. Treats and trinkets from all over the Compact and from those who have come together from all across the world.

Cheers erupt as Savio begins his song, the ebb, and flow of appreciation filtering through the crowd enchanted by the setting and Orland and Savio's performance.

Zakhar puts Alteration and Modification toolkit in Sling Satchel with bleached thumb bones.

Orick is still leaning on (or around) Aconite's booth but he watches the performance with a studious quality out of sheer curiosity when another language is used and rebounding it all with a respectful expression.

Maren closes her eyes as she listens to the unfamiliar language, perhaps to block out the distraction of sight so she she can more concentrate on the sound. There is something in the tone and emotion that touches her deeply, for she doesn't hide the grief or determination that washes over her expression in empathy. But just as a ripple moves through water and then disperses, it is quickly dissipated by the time she opens her eyes. This time, she folds her hands together almost in a praying motion, offering probably an unseen bow to the stage for a heartbeat or two, before she joins in with the applause.

Isabeau offers one of her winsome smiles to Ryhalt, dipping her head in a gentle nod, "You must come to the tower for dinner soon," she offers quietly, after the conclusion of the song. She applauds Savio and Orland with the rest of the crowd as she begins to make her way along, looking for a likely place to set. She settles upon the benches, though she quietly speaks to Narcissa as she nears, "Do you mind if I sit?"

Kiera smiles "I will certainly be sampling fare "she responds to Aconite before turning to the stage to listen to Savio and Orland perform. One can see the wheels turning at first, trying to pick out meaning of a language she knows not in the slightest. it's habit but one can also see the change as the heart overtakes logic and she simply feels the rhythym and the cadence, the tone, and the melody and becomes enrapt

Narcissa has been keeping herself for the entirety of the event with only her corvid companion beside her on the bench. As Isabeau approaches she shakes her head gently, causing a few inky curls to fall from behind her ear. "No, not at all. It would be a pleasure." She scoots over to ensure room is plentiful for the other woman's comfort. "It is a fine gathering, no? Aconite has truly outdone herself."

Orland's lute seems to rejuvenate and provide healing against the undercurrents of the melancholic tones that the unfamiliar words reach out to the audience from Savio... When the Proscipi Lord is nearing the chorus and at some intervals, Orland's baritone sings out in Arvani! THE SAME WORDS. IN ARVANI. Though his vocal range isn't anything compared to Savio's own, the young man holds his own with Savio backing him up with the hum of Aarkon and his weird instrument! Orland in translating the song, seems to bring the union of both worlds together, drifting around Savio, but always looking toward the audience and using his clear strong baritone to reach even the Prince Benedetto all the way in the back trying to find Setarcan Fire! Their music ends with a distinct union of the two sounds, piercing the audience with a clash of bright against dark, despair against hope, broken with unbroken. The closing sounds is a gradual diminishing soulful pluck of rhythm. When the last note dies out, Orland looks to Savio and pulls his arm around the other's waist, lifting his lute up in his free hand and flourishing a bow to the audience! FLOURISH. DEEP BOW. Such perfection!

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Zakhar before departing.

Isabeau has joined the garden bench with gilded arbor canopy and rose trellis.

Kenjay turns to greet Kiera with a fluid Eurusi-style bow. "My Lady," he greets her - and then there's a smile for Aconite. "I made it," he replies. "I will, if there is space for one such as I. I have brought what I need with me." The scuffle on the sand draws his attention, but Savio and Orland pull his gaze back to the stage. He nods to Aconite, then steps away from the centre booth to listen to the performing duo. And applaud, when the time is right.

Cassiopeia doesn't bother to wipe away the tear, it is but one tear and she owns it. When the performance comes to a conclusion, she stands up and applauds loudly. The emotions pour out through her clapping, and a smile breaks through. "That was perfect," she murmurs to no one in particular.

It's a sad song. It's about a siege! But also a great love for one's home, and pride in it -- and the triumph of overcoming. The mood is celebratory as the pair bow and leave the stage to the next performer... who will it be? Back to speaking Arvani, Savio calls out, "Cesare! Are you next?" called out.

Upon returning to the picnic table, he captures Orland in a tight hug, then turns another hug toward Cassiopeia, who is a solid 2 inches taller than he is. He murmurs something quietly to his cousin.

To Kenjay Aconite smiles, "I'll send a messenger to our master of cermmonies and let him know you've volunteered, your highness." Aco gives Keira a knowing look before she's pulled back to telling someone how to find the 'barbecued meats'. Aconite finally pulls away from helping people find their way and moves over to squeeze Orick's shoulder and she leans into him warmly, murmuring into his ear and then pulling back a bit to take a small breather from her Hosting.

ST:

The performance is let to breathe, formulate and ferment into a potent brew that resonates through those gathered to listen? A long-held moment before...

IN a jangle of limbs the dark-haired jester is back with a spin on his heel and a clap that echoes the applause that thundered from the crowd at Savio and Orland's moving performance. Though the day is bright and moods are elevated there is always the memory of the tragedies that have befallen Savio's mother city and indeed the rest of the world. But this festival is a way to celebrate them as well. Cassiopea isn't alone in her wet cheeks.

"Lords, Ladies, Princes, Princesses, All people of Arx... We're not sure how we can crown that amazing performance but... I think I have an idea." Alejandro, the middle-aged Torean capers and beams. "Prepare yourselves to receive Cesare Whisper to regale us with another audible delight from across the water.."

Zakhar mutters, "... ... not ... diff... ... ... ... oh, ... of... no the kits... didn't... ... ... you... HAS ANYONE SEEN A ... COCK WITH A BELL?! Here! Come... addles!"

Zakhar is in conversation with a vendor which is starting to get heated, or he's babbling on about one of his experiments, either way, his arms are flying about as he gets heated about the discussion and is seen turning around to walk right into a messenger, with a loud "And what the fuck do you need?!" He's then reading the missive that has been thrust into his hands.

Cesare rises as the song ends, brings his fingers to his lips, and lets out what is possibly the world's loudest and most piercing whistle of approval. Luckily, by the time it shrieks through the air, everyone else is already applauding and cheering and it's at least slightly lost in the din. He offers Cassiopeia a gentle half-smile of understanding and approval, briefly pausing his applause to lay a gentle hand on her shoulder, and then nods to Savio, picking up his lyre and straightening his shoulders as he glides toward the stage.

Benedetto pauses for a moment, clearly not understanding the song, but briefly arrested nonetheless by the song. He closes his eyes and lets it wash over him. But it's only a moment or two, before he's once more on his way to find a bottle of wine. He's seemingly successful and then starts wandering, his gaze searching the ground for a vic, erh, someone to to have pleasant conversation with.

6 Ivory Shields arrives, following Graziella.

Ryhalt nods in agreement with Isabeau's invitation with a smile. "I'll look forward to that." At the close of the song, he applauds once more as their skill had been undeniable even if the words had not been festive.

Though not having yet heard much of anything, Cadenza joins in with polite applause, glancing about to find a place amenable to her presence.

Savio seems relieved to be through with the performance, good stuff but heavy stuff. He sniffles a tiny bit and laughs quietly to his companions near the picnic table, clinging to Orland's arm and settling in to watch Cesare and the others.

Narcissa recognizes Cadenza almost instantly and raises a pale hand in greeting from her bench, seated beside Isabeau.

Princess Graziella Pravus arrives just in time to see her protege take the stage, she saunters into the event with a parasol on her shoulder and the dappled shadows dance across her face as sun shine through the lace. She isn't attempting to draw attention to herself but her outfit takes care of that as she quietly finds a place to sit and watch the show.

Cassiopeia still cheering and clapping when Savio returns to the table. She wraps her arms around him, hugging him tightly as she whispers something back, eyes tearing up again, but she holds them in. As Cesare gets up to perform, she gives a grateful smile as he touches her shoulder, and then she shifts her attention to him, as she waits excitedly to witness his performance.

Cadenza returns the wave with an accompanying smile, and lacking anywhere else to go, joins Narcissa and Isabeau, albeit at a polite distance.

Benedetto has joined the garden bench with gilded arbor canopy and rose trellis.

Graziella has joined the Wooden Picnic Table.

Orland slips off the stage and offers an encouraging nod to Cesare as the Whisper moves to take over the stage. Relieved of the duties of bard for the moment, lute strapped over his shoulder, Orland regards some of the audience, like Benedetto over there, who may have enjoyed it on some level! That is good! As long as it was received well and bottles weren't being tossed at them! Although if it was Setarco Fire, Orland might try to play catch. In any case, he has a shockingly inviting look given to anyone who wishes to have conversations with them to join their table. He releases Savio for Cassi to give him a hug and murmurs to them at the table.

Cadenza has joined the garden bench with gilded arbor canopy and rose trellis.

Oh no, someone appears to have made eye contact with the Fox Prince. Benedetto turns through the crowd and makes his way in the direction of the garden bench with it's gilded canopy and rose trellis. But he does pause for a moment, shifting a glance in the direction of Graziella, briefly entranced by the way the shadows shift across her face, and the utter splendor of her clothing, but he shakes it off a moment later to sidle up to the rose trellis.

The old man quiets a little as a brown and white speckled rooster is pointed out to be sitting on his head. "Ah..." Looking around to those gathered. "Found the cock! All is good. Carry on with yer things!" He then takes a quick set of puffs on the leaf tucked to his lip, and looks over to the bards. "Aha! The dashing Savio and lordling Orland! Whatcha doing up on that stage?" Zakhar looks to be out of his mind.

Resolute, an Oakhaven bloodhound, Dart, a Kite of the Cloudspine arrive, following Kastelon.

At the edge of the beach crowd, a tan woman in a white silk tunic is watching the festivities with eager eyes. She might not stand out much in the audience save that she clearly seems to be a recent Eurusi refugee, and seeing Aconite as master of ceremonies has her captivated. Someone tries to hand her a drink, but she politely refuses.

Nina turns her eyes toward Graziella, and grins seeing her ensamble. She clearly approves of it and the fashion alone is distracting her now from the performances.

Maren lingers from her standing vantage point, seemingly still comfortable on her feet, despite her advanced age. A smile curves her lips as she watches the next performer moves towards the stage. She does, however tuck behind one ear a tendril of silvery hair that's been teased out from her hairpins by the ocean breeze. Zahkhar's shoutings make her smile strengthen to a grin, briefly, before she returns her attention to the one readying for the next performance.

Cesare takes the stage in a radiant glimmer of light, although you wouldn't know it from his expression; he's already started to disappear wherever it goes when he performs, dark eyelashes shadowing his cheeks as he casts his gaze down at his lyre, checking the tuning one final time. "Gentlefolk," he says, voice pitched just loud enough to be heard and with a hint of wry amusement despite the lack of facial expression, "Now that Lord Savio and Lord Orland have made me look bad, I'm grateful to see you all out here tonight celebrating the many different cultural influences that strengthen and bring beauty to our great Compact. As some of you have no doubt heard, I am from Setarco -" a ripple of laughter through the crowd at this, people /definitely/ have heard that Cesare is from Setarco, "- and I've written a song that is about my home city, although coming at it from a rather odd angle."

Still looking down at his hands on the lyre, he pauses, and then /does/ raise his gaze, peering out over the crowd with what starts as faint hope, and then slowly shades into vague, resigned disappointment. His eyes turn back downward. Or, more accurately, inward. "I hope you'll enjoy it."

Kastelon makes his way down towards the beach - there's not much to keep him, truly, from doing so, though the steps aren't as even as they've been, that sense that he's getting himself accustomed to the shifting sand under his feet as that head turns this way and that, the way he's enjoying the sights and more importantly, the sounds he's been following from the city proper.

Graziella is overheard praising Aconite.

Savio is overheard praising Aconite.

Kiera is overheard praising Aconite.

Savio is listening to Cesare begin, with an amused "Oh stop!" at the assertion that he might have been made to look bad. He also reaches his hands toward Zakhar, "I was singing. About Tremorus, and Orland helped me, and my cousin Cassi here and I trying not to cry. Are you alright?" The question is caring, fond.

The tall tan woman is noted and Aconite smiles her direction and waves her over to see if she cannot help her get more involved with the festivities with the offering of an ivy crown or a drum. An attempt to break that invisible barrier that can linger between the uncertain and celebration.

ST:

The press of bodies is like a single living breathing entity. AS the day grows later people begin to lose themselves more into the jubilant organism. It's as if the gaiety is infectious, broadening tastes and planting seeds of curiosity,

A group of dancing maids who have armed themselves with colored scarves skip and twirl their way down the main thoroughfare. People parting for them as a rainbow of slithering silk shapes as they bounce along.

Graziella's arrival causes a new stir. The delicate beauty draped in the beauty of her outfit and unique design drawing eyes and curious admiration when she strolls by.

There's a new plume of scents as the pit-cooked lamb is finally unearthed over in the area arranged for eating. A surge of people moves to partake of the new decadently savory-smelling food.

The crowd is rapt on Cesare. Something beautiful and intriguing with a promise of a song about a city familiar to some and somehow utterly foreign to others.

Returning the familiar affectations delivered by Narcissa, Cadenza settles next to the woman, gathering her dress to ensure a smooth transition. "Likewise, cousin! I've only just arrived, I fear, so I've seen...very little so far, but each since then has been marvelous." Cadenza then turns her gaze to observe the unknown man, offering a polite smile.

Cadenza gets Tightly woven crown of ivy from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Graziella takes Lightly floating nearly dancing silk scarf from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Zakhar slips his unique cane out and uses it delicately balance himself while ranting, continuing to wave his hands about in his declaration of grand findings to Savio.

Zakhar mutters, "What? ... wouldn't it be? Aha! ... Waddles ... off and ... he appearededs again ... ... heads! ... I ... one head, yes? ... ... it two? ... ... some Haze, ... ... good stuff, not what was scrapped ... ... ... ... for the soup. Hmmm. a ... soup it ... ..."

Cadenza gets Lightly floating nearly dancing silk scarf from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Cesare's fingers draw across the lyre. From afar, the movement looks impossibly light, as though he's barely touching the strings - but he pulls out ripples of sound like the white foam of waves caressing the shore, one hardly falling away before the next rises to take its place. Interspersed between the rolling undercurrent are low notes like the boom of a fog horn or the hum of a low whale's moan, vibrating slowly amidst the faster waves. And quickly-plucked, infrequent high notes. The cries of seabirds, gulls and albatrosses. One of his feet taps the stage, with a slide in between, evoking busy cobblestone streets and echoes on white marble.

At last he lifts his voice. It's a sound that is as pure and as golden as if one were to take a bite of the sun itself:

"I stared; the stone before me
Slowly became the moon.
I stayed; light fell;
A seabird's wing cut across its face.
I heard a tremulous cry,
But could not answer back;
And though I walk alone,
The past itself keeps pace.

I bear, but not alone,
This burden; a joy, a tear
To remember - whatever was, still is:
A hope, a breath, a fear.
When I'm no longer young,
The winds and waters will be, still,
Whatever falls away will fall,
For neither good nor ill.
The hand that holds my own
Guides me only, ever, on."

Cadenza is overheard praising Narcissa.

Kiera turns her attention in several directions. She is heading over to congratulate Orland and Savio while also li to Cesare's performance and noting Kastelon's arrival but first things first

Zakhar checked luck + sewing at difficulty 29, rolling 46 higher.

Maren listens attentively to the lyrics of Cesare's song, though the final brings yet another brief ripple of sadness across her features. It is clear it does not diminsh her enjoyment, however, her fingertips keeping in perfect but silent cadence with the song's beat, as they brush against the side of the drum.

Benedetto checks composure at easy. Benedetto is successful.

The tan woman, to whom Aconite waves, looks over toward her, and smiles with bright teeth when she's gestured toward the drums. She walks to take one... and then she bangs on it... quietly at first, with some hesitation. Then she jerks her hand back suddenly as if it were bitten, because she does not want to interrupt the next performance onstage.

Princess Graziella is captivated by Cesare's performance and she watches on with large dreamy eyes, swaying ever so slightly in her seat at the picnic table.

Kenjay offers Aconite a fluid Eurusi-style bow, then makes a beeline for some drummers clad in Eurusi-cut clothing. A quiet conversation ensues, and for some reason it's not being held in Arvani. But then Cesare begins to perform, and that conversation ends as all faces turn to the stage.

Cadenza flashes Isabeau a lovely smile, and leaning a bit closer as to not speak too loudly, introduces herself. "Lady Cadenza Fidante - well met." She returns to her previous posture, sucking in a thoughtful breath ere replying to Narcissa, "...I suppose it would depend on the manner of performance; at times in the past, I have managed an enjoyable dance or two. And on occasion, I have been known to play the harp, though never to the degree a proper entertainer might achieve. As for company, I always welcome yours, and would be glad to join you should you call for a social outing."

:watches Cesare perform, her expression lights up as she hears him sing, it allows her to relax and enjoy the moment, past thoughts drifting into the background as she focuses on the music.

As the song continues, the low tone rises, becoming less a foghorn and more a heartbeat; the seabirds become a sparkling counterpoint to Cesare's voice, like a windchime or the wind itself. The landscape of the score isn't just a landscape - it's a living, breathing being, just as present as any of the people here. Cesare's eyes slip closed, his hair falling forward to curtain his face in a black cloud of curls.

"The round laughing face of the sun,
A breeze wreathes round a tree.
The sticky-slick cherry-pits, one by one,
Take root in a slack throat.
A skin's flicker, marble-white,
Swan-hearted, dove-winged as a sea wind
Seeks me, takes its bite.

The sharp stars circle 'round,
Under a southern wind;
The birds and fishes course,
Knowing what we only dream;
Following such insubstantial path and force
As I may only seek unseen.
May I wear myself as I should be -
May I answer only what I mean.
May I dance upon the wheel
With feet fleet and keen.
May I see and suffer myself,
At last, in other beings."

The waves of music roll into silence; the high-notes vibrate into nothingness. Cesare's foot stills. Only the low thrum of the heartbeat remains, until it, too, slows, and stops.

Zakhar gives Savio a tight one armed squeeze then a kiss to the man's forehead. "Be good to that one, eh?" Before he and the cloud of blue smelling of haze wanders off after a certain prince.

It's with rapt attention for some long moments that Kastelon watches Cesare performing, the various lights about allowing the revelation of that hint of a smile on his features as he's enjoying the artistry, the slowing of his breathing to keep time with the music. The hand that dips down to stroke Resolute's head, even without his being able to see on that side.

Orland seems to be holding hands briefly with not Savio, in fact, with Cassi, but then after a moment his hand slides back and he settles in, nodding to Kiera, eyebrows raised at Zakhar, with a slight shake of his head to Zakhar, amused, but then Cesare's got his attention. The song has him staring, in those moments were one wave seems to overlap the next, trying not to strum along on his lute while the man plays, but his fingers are tweaking ever so badly. Maybe a light pluck here and there won't be loud enough to interrupt... it's... hard not to!

Cadenza inclines her head to Benedetto, offering a more genuine smile, cherry lips curling up at the edges with a mischievous lift. "Good day."

Princess Graziella lets that poignant silence hang for an artistically long time, out of respect, and then she starts to applaud and call out her appreciation for the performance, "So moving, wonderful.." She continues to applaud until well after Cesare has left the stage and started his return trek to them.

Ryhalt listens to Cesare's performance with a slight furrow of his brow, but claps loudly as the song comes to an end.

Cassiopeia stands up when the performance is over, so she can applaud loudly for Cesare. Her eyes sparkle, impressed by the song and the music. While it gives her a reprieve from the earlier tears, she is equally touched by the talent she witnesses.

Savio doesn't applaud right away either -- like Graziella, he can respect both notes and the space between them, the need to appreciate the silence after. But then, when the cheering starts, of course he joins it, in applause and a called out, "Why are you so talented! It isn't fair to everyone else, Cesare!" The tone is all approval, for a friend!

Quiet conversations had at the benches aside, Isabeau raises her hands to clap for Cesare, an appreciatve smile drawn out by the performance and sent towards the stage.

Benedetto lifts his attention away from the ladies at the Garden arch when he is approached by Zakhar. A slow tilt of his head is given to the other man. His smile is wide, though he looks less like an eager puppy and more like a confused one at the moment; complete with the head tilt. "I don't believe I need assistance, good sir. Unless you wish to try some of this wine." He gestures to the bottle he is holding. It has an *alarmingly* red and orange label on it.

Aconite smiles at the young woman as she takes a drum. "A wonderful choice, these were made by my brother." She explains. Her eyes cast towards the stage then to the tan young woman, "Amazing right?" She chuckles before gesturing to the drum "Do you know how to play?" A few of the crowd over by the large middle tent pause to consider who Aconite is talking to. A message comes back to Aconite from Briar and the Hostess grins at Kenjay, "You should start making your way to the Stage, Your Highness."

ST:

The crowd reacts to the song, swaying to the lovely melody that the Lyre bearing Whisper from Setarco sets for them. The emotions the song evokes passing over the crowd and setting in not only sadness but a sense of hope and fond longing. Again the rolling to a stop leaves a moment of breathless silence among the crowd before they erupt into a cacophony of applause and cheering of the Whisper's dynamic performance.

It too is given a moment to breathe... To steep and resonate with those who have come to this celebration of what makes people different and yet somehow ties them all together.

"Stunning. Remarkably memorable.. Thank you Cesare Whisper, I'm certain your performance will be on the lips of the city for months to come.." Alejandro, the darkly clad man flourishes a little bow. "Next in this feast for the senses is a thought-provoking performance by Prince Kenjay Redrain!

Maren joins in the applause at the song's conclusion--first with a drum's rhythm with the crowd, and then her own two hands. But it isn't long before she stills, awaiting the next performance. She spots another drum-holder in the crowd, offering a wink to Nina should she catch the young woman's eye, though she doesn't seek to interfere with anyone's enjoyment.

After offering polite applause for the lovely performance, Cadenza softly replies to Narcissa, "Of course, cousin - I'd be delighted. Only, do not expect to weep over my performance, unless the sound of harpstrings causes you pain." She laughs softly at her own expense, seeming at least well-cheered.

Cesare opens his eyes and ... just stares at everyone for a moment, expressionless, like pretty much every thought has been emptied out of his brain in favor of music. Rather mechanically, he sweeps a bow, and then makes his way offstage, lyre tucked under arm. Good thing Alejandro is here to make sure people don't just stand around trying to rub their last two brain cells together and figure out what they're supposed to do next. He heads back over to the picnic table, sits down, and ... promptly puts his head in his arms.

Cadenza arches a dark brow at Isabeau, the mischievous curl of her smile growing.

Zakhar looks to Benedetto, "I thinks..." He waves his hand as if swatting at a swath of bugs, "Wine? Sure! does it have any of the good tasty flowers or mushrooms innit? Or tis it something simple such as a fruit that should be squashed a played with toeies?" He takes the offered bottle and looks at it, then sniffs at it. The rooster sitting on his head lets out a high pitched screech and clucks off the snow-white locks of hair that it was using as a roost. The old man turns to watch the rooster for a moment, "Was it something I said?!" The turning back to Benedetto and leaning closer, so that the scar running the middle of his face is quite visible even as it is long healed.

Ryhalt has joined the Beneath Trees.

Kenjay, having worked his way towards the stage with the Eurusi drummers in his wake, applauds Cesare; he pulls something from a bag and hands the bag to one of his guards, then licks his finger and holds it in the air. When his name is called, the quiet man in the scarlet and orange silks makes his way up onto the stage, with a murmur for the departing Cesare as he goes.

Kenjay takes a position at centre stage with a bundle of red fabric in his hands, then nods to the drummers; they set up a pounding, driving beat, and the Champion's utter stillness turns into deft, fluid motion as the bundle of fabric is dropped and pulled and lifted, unfurling in a billow of scarlet silk. What follows is a display of dancing, with the silk taking centre stage; the scarlet fabric roils and billows to the beat of the drums, with Kenjay keeping it in motion at all times. The Arvani might see a thundercloud's rolling in the fabric, but to those few who've seen a sandstorm, there's no mistaking the intent.

It's a masterful display by an athlete in top condition, the silk ever-moving and never-still - until that last moment, when with a crash of the drums the fabric falls to the stage, inert at last, to reveal a sweating Kenjay who offers the crowd a fluid Eurusi-style bow.

"No idea at all," says the woman speaking to Aconite, and a bit shyly, at that. "I've barely even seen such a show before," she says, which seems like a weird thing to say. Her Arvani is a bit hesitant at that. Kenjay, when called forth, has the woman momentarily star-struck. "...I'm sorry to interrupt." Then she watches the drums and dancing with a round of applause.

Nina is getting up from her seat now to also get closer to the stage. She gives Maren a wave of her fingers. Nina takes up a drum but doesn't strike it either, as the on stage performance should be paramount, in her mind.

Zakhar has joined the garden bench with gilded arbor canopy and rose trellis.

Benedetto checks composure at normal. Benedetto is successful.

The bottle of wine is not opened yet. But maybe the spicy Setarcan peppers that are imbibed in it can be smelt through the cork. Benedetto startles a touch when the rooster suddenly takes off from Zakhar's head. A glance is given over his shoulder, but before he can say anything Zakhar is leaning in closer. He shifts a touch awkwardly, but his spine locks and he listens to the other man. "Ah, thank you for the offer, but I'm quite well with my wine..." Which he tries to get back, "Oh, look, Duchess Telmar is calling me." With or without the wine he's heading to take a seat next to Isabeau, leaning in to murmur something toward her.

Zakhar checked luck + artwork at difficulty 19, rolling 1 lower.

Cesare's only out of commission for a minute or so. Not even long enough to miss Kenjay's performance, thank goodness. He's surrounded by kind people who check on him in his post-performance adrenaline crash, and offers quiet reassurances to them at the picnic table where they're all seated, before turning his attention back to the stage.

Cadenza puffs at Narcissa, determined to offer a final sobering statement, despite her bemusement, "Well, you were warned."

Resolute, an Oakhaven bloodhound, Dart, a Kite of the Cloudspine leave, following Kastelon.

Ryhalt watches Kenjay's performance, tilting his head curiously as he tries to decipher what is going on with the dance. He lets out a quiet laugh and applauds at the finish.

Aco smiles at the young woman, pleased with her dumbstruck moment once Prince Redrain takes the stage. Aco slips back off to work on some more of the festival with a sidelong look cast back to the stage. Sadly the Host rarely gets to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Unintentionally Aconite misses the look from her Patron, too busy to mirror Narcissa's sharp concern.

ST:

Off in the area where merchants are offering up everything from seasonings to fabrics imported from their parent cities, a barking war commences between two toy sellers.

The crowd in front of the stage is still caught on the emotional wave of hope capped melancholy is stirred by the sound of the drums and then Kenjay takes the stage a murmur of surprise and a couple of saucy whistles escape from the sea of the audience when Kenjay stands before them ready to begin his performance.

Some several hundred yards from the edge of the festival the waves lap the sands and are a welcoming cool respite for a few people who've escaped from the crowds. They enjoy the surf and the ambiance that radiates out from the fair.

Orland checks dexterity and stealth at hard. Orland fails.

Tris, a Kite of the Cloudspine arrives, delivering a message to Zakhar before departing.

Cassiopeia applauds the latest performance, seeming fascinated by the dance and the intensity of it. The beat of the drum encourages a honeysilk clad foot to tap along with the beat, unconsciously so. A hand reaches up and fingers trail along the rough surface of her beaded necklace, before it rests in the billows of her skirt.

Maren is clearly enchanted by the athletic dance, especially at the use of the fabric. In a gesture of deep respect, an echo of artist to artist perhaps, she elder once more brings the palms of her hands together, finger facing up, before she bows deeply to the stage. There is no sadness in her expression this time, as she observes, and her smile broadens to a grin at the crowd's reaction.

There's really no escaping QUIETLY when you were on the big stage! Orland was slipping away from the bench after he got a hug from Savio and sort of say his quiet goodbyes to those at the table. Unfortunately, there's some fan people out there, yes, both! They have been waiting! WAITING! The Amadeo sees them at the last moment, but his sneaky stealth retreat is hindered completely, swallowed up in a gathering of wayward fans! Someone ends up crowning him with a crown of ivy. Anddddd... the Amadeo is not getting out of this party without drinking or something. He's swarmed closer to one of those tents and likely pressed for more lute playing. Orland tries to step up on his tippy toes with a HALLLLP look toward... no Savio is busy!! OH NO. Maybe they had heard about the sea-shanty he played at a bonfire party, either way, he's not going to be exactly leaving anytime soon, not until the audience grows weary and lets him REALLY sneak off.

Savio is overheard praising Orland.

Savio did notice Orland over there. Needing help. But does he help him? No, he does not! He just smiles and lets it happen. His applause is turned toward Kenjay for the athletic performance, and he speaks quietly at the table with the remaining companions at the picnic table.

Maren is overheard praising Cesare.

Maren is overheard praising Kenjay.

Benedetto is overheard praising Aconite.

When Aconite moves her attention back to the stage, the mysterious woman she was speaking with turns and looks through the crowds for other performers. She sees Cesare, who certainly stood out on stage, and still does even in the crowd. She seems to be of Eurusi descent, judging by her hair and the manner of her dress, but this is clearly not an expensive fabric she's clothed herself in either so she doesn't read as a foreign noble. "Excuse me," she says, her language hesitant. "I wanted to say I much admired your performance and I wondered is that what it means, a Whisper?"

Kenjay holds his bow for a few moments more, a consummate showman, then rises again and departs the stage, rolling the scarlet silk back up as he goes. And then he's back on the ground again, smiling and congratulating the drummers before retreating back into his more usual self-effacing self.

Another flitter of Briar and Aconite gets a message and excuses herself heading for the stage.

Kenjay's dance is watched raptly evoking a whole rainbow of feelings though the display of Eurusi art is met with exuberant praise for his

Clapping bawdily at Prince Kenjay's performance Alejandro calls, "A display of grace and strength, a true representation of your training your Highness." Kenjay's leaving of the stage is peppered by many appreciative questions and pervasive inquisitiveness.

"Next up... My personal favorite Apprentice Whisper Aconite will be dancing for the crowd. It is our last large stage act for the evening but there will be many more intimate performances and showings throughout the night to be enjoyed with the free food and drink provided by our lovely Whisper House."

Savio has joined the Wooden Picnic Table.

Cesare sits up a bit further, smiling warmly when the mysterious woman comes over. "Thank you," he replies, putting a hand to his chest and bowing his head. "I'm so glad you enjoyed it. A Whisper is - a courtier. We work as entertainers, companions, diplomats. Anywhere we can help, we try to help, and we do our best to remain neutral while doing so. Does that make sense? I hope so." He extends a hand. "I'm Cesare."

Aconite checks dexterity and performance at easy. Aconite is successful.

Graziella takes blue standing drum from Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Graziella has left the Wooden Picnic Table.

Aconite has drummers as well, and a couple of Refugees with what look like long thin rattles and even a few bearing carnyx horns. The tune they set is easy, thrumming like an excited heartbeat with the soft accent of the dry rain of the rattles and the haunting call of the horns. Aconite arrives on stage with a flourish of a bow, her brightly colored honeysilk outfit radiant in the sun.

The rhythm starts in one foot and then moves up through her body, to the other and then soon takes the statuesque Courtier on a winding journey through the music. Each place of a slippered foot, every undulating roll of her form in time to the standard beat with an emphasis on the second and fourth beat that is always matched by the balls of her feet landing on the ground again before speeding to a six-eight which sees her twisting and even leaping exultantly.

The dance itself speaks of celebration. A oneness with the elements of the music, of the hot sun's rays, and the rhythmic sway of waves. It's a dance that Aconite has been performing since she was small, a gift from her mother long ago. The beat is inviting and easy enough that anyone who wants to try to keep time to the catchy swing can readily join in and some do.

"I thought a whisper meant something quiet, but the stage is very loud," says the woman speaking to Cesare. "I am called Nihal. It is very nice to meet you and hear your-" There is heistancy. "Song. Singing. Yes." She takes his hand and clasps it, then drops it. Then she looks at the stage again as another Whisper is dancing.

Maren is quick to catch on to the participation aspect of the inviting rhythm, and as many instruments both favor, brought, and improvisational join in, so does she with the drum she's taken, seeking to add to the energy, and encourgage the nimble and impressively strong performance upon the stage. Her gaze is held by Aconite's movement, but for the moment her /heart/ leaves behind the cares of the present to join in wholeheartedly with the oneness of the music and the others there, even laughing with joy with each leap on the stage.

Graziella collects herself a drum and then wanders off down the beach playing with it, letting all the sounds and sights of the festival fall away as she trapsies her off along the sand.

The music continues, the band willing to stay and play even after the dewy and pleased Apprentice Whisper has flourished a bow and scuttled her way off stage to be met with a rush of people who need her assistance with the other moving parts of the festival.

ST:

The High Stage performances have come to an end leaving the mass of the audience to begin to disperse amongst the tents and booths, to savor the assault of new spices and liquors on the pallet and as the sun starts to descend towards the water, catching the ocean in brilliant jewel-like glimmers, families begin to break off leaving the evening to develop tastes for a more mature crowd. MOre daring dances... More pouring liquors? the night doesn't fall in oppressive silence instead it's lit up by the atmosphere, the music, and the many fires and bone fires that begin to dot the sand dunes around the festivities. A party that will go well into the evening and perhaps even into the eve of the second night of the Rhythm of the World Festival, which promises an equally diverse set of performances though how they'll manage to even compare to tonight's gala is dubious.

Aconite's dance is a celebration that cannot be resisted and it has Savio on his feet, somehow elegantly not tangled up in his attire as he extends a hand toward Cassiopeia in an invitation. "Dance with me? Then we can find some refreshments, and then some troub-- oh, very good behavior." He tilts a friendly smile to Nihal, but does not seek to interrupt her conversation with Cesare!

Nina is overheard praising Aconite.

Kenjay takes a drum from one of the drummers, and joins in with the beat; he knows it, it seems, and well enough that his drumming blends in easily with the rest. And then it's over, and he beats his applause on the drum as well, before handing the drum - and a few coins - back to the drummer.

Kenjay is overheard praising Aconite.

Ryhalt finds Aconite's performance infectious enough to clap along. He claps more at the end of her performance. Suzette taps his arm. "Yes, yes... we should head back." So he and his page walk back up the beach towards Arx.

Marjolaine, a spirited sellsword leaves, following Maren.

Ryhalt has left the Beneath Trees.

Cesare is overheard praising Aconite: Apprentice Whisper Aconite put on the most tremendous event - sights, sounds, smells, and tastes from all across the Compact! What an accomplishment.

"Oh yes! No, you're quite right. A whisper does mean speaking quietly." Cesare bows his head again. "Whisper - proper, like a family name - is the name of the organization. Whisper House. So I'm Whisper Cesare, but my name is also Cesare Whisper." He chuckles. "Nihal, it's lovely to meet you. And it's all quite complicated to explain, really. I'm just glad you're enjoying the festival, and thank you again."

"It's always the best behaviour. We're always up to complete good," she says to Savio, with a guilty laugh. The tall blonde extends her arm and takes her cousin's hand. Standing up to her full height, a couple inches above his, she lets her new scarf unwind from her arm, and trail behind her, she flicks her hand up and down so it dances in the air. "Let's dance," she exclaims suddenly, eager, and in that moment she cannot help but smile. The smile reaches her eyes and she walks hand and hand with Savio. Drawing him with her to an open place near other dancers, it has enough space to accommodate their movements, but join them in with the others. Hips move to the beat of the drums, as she finds that perfect spot.

Cassiopeia is overheard praising Aconite.

Nina, off to one side, is regarding the stage thoughtfully. She sips from her drink. "Make a note I think I'd like to perform myself if I can get on the schedule," she says, to her assistant... then hands him her empty glass. She sighs, happily. "Then I guess we should be off to make sure I have something suitable to wear!"

Nihal, meanwhile, gives Cesare a bow. "Lovely to meet you also. This is my first time attending a festival. I'll remember you... if I have questions about Whispers?"

"Please do remember me if you need anything at all, Nihal," Cesare replies. "As I said - our job as Whispers is to assist, and I do very much enjoy my job. Oftentimes even if I can't help with something, I may be able to point you toward someone who can. Do send me a messenger if you like, or call on me at Whisper House."

Savio seems able to let go of some of that heaviness from earlier as he dances with Cassiopeia. Arakkoans have their own dances, but easily fitted into the rhythms presented by the festival. It is a freedom and a pleasure to dance them with someone else who knows them, and his speech moves fluidly in and out of Arakkoan and Arvani as they enjoy the festival and the music, a safe and lovely place in which to share and appreciate their culture, and all the others to which it has so recently joined.

Tris, a Kite of the Cloudspine arrives, delivering a message to Savio before departing.

Aconite takes Dark cedar chest with engraved ivy lid.

Aconite finally breaks free of some of the crowd. Enough that she can go try to wind her way through the throngs of people who celebrate in the gathering twilight. Smiling as she sees Savio and Casseiopeia dancing and waving in passing to Nihal and Cesare as she hunts herself a glass of wine to wet her parched throat.

Kenjay enjoys himself, and at some point departs without fanfare, his guards following him off into the evening.

Dancing comes easy to Cassiopeia and she forgets that anyone's watching. Rather she loses herself in the music, the beat and the energy she feels from those familiar steps. Cassiopeia murmurs quietly to her dance partner, a series of emotions playing across her face, while her body keeps a consistent positive stance. It's not hard to slip into the rhythm, loose locks bounce against a bare back, and she half jumps, revelling in a moment of happiness and excitement, cheeks still stained with early tears.
