Most of the time I keep my tongue behind my teeth, Scholar. It's a healthy habit to have in the Lowers, and what I've seen of life in the Wards only reinforces that.
But sometimes when a friend asks a question that isn't related to all that stuff, I say too much, or at least it feels like I do. Is it because I don't say anything so much of the time that I don't know how much to say when I can? Is it because they didn't actually expect an answer, and what they got was far more than they wanted?
I don't know, but the next time someone asks me how I am and then wanders off before letting me reply, I might get irritated.

There are days when the memories of what happened at Sanctum hang over me like a weight. Individually, each is light enough to be bearable, but at times when combined they make it difficult to even draw breath. Even so, I hold fast to those memories. They make me who I am and from them I draw strength.

Elora is teaching me how to train animals and Rosa has agreed to share whatever she has picked up as well. It is fascinating a bit to see the creatures begin to respond to teaching not really worded but yet still conveyed in a language of urgings and rewards. Sort of like a puzzle, finding the right combinations of actions, sounds and gestures to get the message from human to animal.
