The beach was overtaken with flowers and silk, with couches and fine wine and Whispers. Oh, the beach parties in Lenosia were more scandalous, by far -- but in Arx, all cultures meet, and not all cultures are as daring as the Lyceum. Still, it was beautiful, and Lady Calista, my co-host, was beautiful in kind -- she shone bright as the stars overhead. She will rise high in Arx, I'm sure of it.

Duchess Esera is an interesting woman, to say the least. A fierce, smart, and I'm fairly certain a more intelligent person would be quite terrified of her. It's a good thing that I'm not bright, or I'd be worried about the possibility of having to work against her.

This mercenary is someone I could consider a friend or at least friendlier than some others that have come in and out of town. I don't really ask questions about what he does but he's interested in my armor. I'd say that's the start of something promising.

Relationship Note on Isolde
An interesting woman, Princess Isolde. Dazzlingly pretty, very bright, and a skilled conversationalist. She also didn't get mad when I got drunk at a theater and decided to entertain myself by mocking the actors. I did explain that I knew most of them, at least.

Wolly - He hates it when I call him that but his name is rather cumbersome on the tongue; Wolbrand. WALL-/brand/. It's not the kind of name you would cry out in the middle of passion. Not that I have, but I have totally thought about it. I wondered what it would sound like in the midst of ecstasy, words thick with honey... Ahem. He's my guildmaster. A god one at that..GOOD one. Relationship Note on Alrec
Admiral Alrec Magaldi is not someone I should talk to. I am not sure if his reputation is larger than it should be or if he is exactly as people believe he is. He is said to be dangerous, treacherous, a man of few morals. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, I find myself in his company on the rare occasion we run into one another in the Hundred Cities Inn or on the beach. I have decided, despite the urging from my cousins, to decide for myself what his reputation should be.

She is my father's protege -- his flame, with hair bright as one. She is a beauty, and a poet. You would not expect her of the Lower Boroughs. Perhaps I am too far removed from them to know what to expect. She told me she was disposable. Is there such a thing as a disposable person? I don't want to believe there is. Naive, I know.

A skilled warrior prince and a very blunt individual, I find I enjoy Prince Fergus's company. He would make an enjoyable drinking buddy or sparring partner, but I think I ought to figure out a way to actually harm if I seriously want to pursue him for the latter; otherwise I'll just be giving him more and more ammo to mock me with.

Relationship Note on Malorie
A Valardin princess with a notable interest in horses. My interactions with her have so far been pleasant. She has taken an interest in the care of my aging gelding, Theodore, and currently cares for my next warhorse I intend to use when my trusty stead officially retires. I suspect she is a very caring, empathic individual - the world could always use more of those.

Relationship Note on Ophelia
Truly a delight to interact with, I believe Princess Ophelia may be one of the few people in existence who is capable of cheering up the Prince Inquisitor. She also has a penchant for skillful bird murder, which is an asset to any hunting party who wishes to have a buffet consisting of more than one meat.

Like the tragedy surrounding my friends, I somehow find it...hard to put words down about my brother. There is the boy that I remember and the man that he has become, and it is no small thing to build a bridge between the two. With so many years that lie empty, I have very little with which to work.

Where has all the time gone? I really can't keep track anymore because I've been working day and night and night and day and it's starting to take a bit of a toll on me but I'm working tirelessly to perfect this rubicund armor. I need to come up with something amazing for Market Day, which is an upcoming event Lady Dawn has arranged to showcase the crafters here in Arx. I love making making bows, so I've half of mind to do one of those. The hairpins, however, may appeal to a wider variety of people. I mean, come on. Jewelry that is also a weapons? Blades are more popular, but I don't want to make popular, I want to make unique. In the midst of this, again I find myself wondering if I've been spending too much time at the forge and not enough time in a ring; I am not getting any younger. Still, this event is an important one and I gave my word to Lady Dawn, who I rather admire. What to make, though? I've a crapton of parchments full of scribbles and still no solid idea.

Relationship Note on Kima
No matter how long we are apart, how far away I ride, or the troubles we have seen - Kima smiles and it is as though nothing has changed in the world, we are still children unburdened with worries racing our ponies through the vineyards. It might be unfair to hope that she never changes, that I will always be able to look at her and remember only a simpler time, but I hope it none the less.

The road to Arx was not kind to Vomas. By the third day he suffered saddle sores and his stomach turned to knots taking him off of the road every half hour if he took more than water and hardtack. Still, he did not complain once and passed the time drawing the plants we passed in his journal, and I am proud of his perserverence. I suspect that my son will not follow the path taken by myself and his aunt. He shows all the signs of a budding scholar; all the more reason to have him in the city with me. The things that he can learn here in Arx, the resources that are available that we do not have in the Saikland Greens, are too numerous to count.
For myself, I do not know yet what Arx will hold for me. Perhaps I am blessed in some fashion that not knowing what the next rising sun will shed its light on has been my way of life for so long. Prior to the king's last hunt I might not have found myself at home here in the city, but a veiled future is as comfortable as a familiar hearth. Fealty and oath will point the way, once I have had time to rest from the road and separate those rumors which have been twisted on their way south from those still wrapped in truths.

Sir Silas is so clever! He had the wonderful idea to have a card game at the tavern, and it was one he developed all himself! I'm still not quite sure I remember all the rules, but it was so much fun. He has been very polite and pleasant, and it's so good to have such company around. I only hope I can return his kindness.

Isn't it funny how some people just feel right? Acacia had approached me through messenger to inquire after healing services, and I had an opportunity to meet her a few days later at a card game in the tavern. She's so witty and vivacious, and I had such fun! I look forward to seeing more of her out and about. I have a good feeling about her.

Relationship Note on Dorian
How exciting to meet an actual champion in person in my establishment! And so charming, and dashing, and... goodness! I'm ever so flustered. Dorian has been an absolute gentleman, and I do love seeing a friendly smile in the tavern. His patronage, and what seems to be blossoming into a friendship, is most appreciated.
