an oddly large stone-looking egg leaves, following Titus.

With Vayne beside her, Giada strolls into the room without her shoes, something that seems to be causing her some amusement. At least she's had a pedicure. "I have absolutely no idea how this is going to go," she tells the Legate, "so no promises. I'm sure there's wine, though."

Alis looks fascinating from the moment she arrives for this festival she's not familiar with; the prominent sign asking for no shoes prompts a raised eyebrow. But, there's a reason she has assistants. One of them gets to carry her shoes. And like any stoic faced Valardin Knight should, one of the guards takes them as if they are priceless objects instead of just slippers. Then, passes them to the next guard in line until the newest member of the bunch is stuck with them while they all wait out there somewhere. Sorry Sir Joe. Or whoever. Honestly it might also take her awhile to get to the drinks, because she's pausing to look at each pond and pool and unique bit of flora she comes across after that.

Monique slips up behind Aconite, the off the shoulder lavender silk of her gown a riot of slashes and woven ribbons clinging to her every eye-catching curve, fiery hair tumbling in soft, inviting waves down her back. The smile of her ruby lips is no less bone-melting as she turns it on the Renowned Whisper. "Shall we?" she holds out her arm to the stunning woman. "I can't wait to have every single eye fall on us with abject jealousy.

On the arm of the looming figure of Prince Nazmir Redrain, who wears a sleeveless tunic exquisitely-dyed to resemble a sunset, is Princess Keely Grayson, dressed as the night giving way to dawn, with hundreds of tiny glass beads glittering in the light from her sunrise-cutout gown. The pair stop at the door to step out of their footwear to be passed off to their assistants, and the princess looks up to her escort with a soft, nervous-sounding giggle as her bare feet alight the ground. She then lifts her dark eyes to scan the gardens with no small amount of wonder. "Oh, look," she breathes aside to him more than once, giving gentle tugs to his arm and pointing subtly but excitably to various bits of the decor, the exotic food so beautifully arranged on golden trays, the metal drum band.

Vayne pauses before the sign on the door of the garden, mouth moving -- and his dark eyebrows lift, his smile mild -- he stoops to remove his boots, set them neatly aside, and then to carefully roll up the hems of his shadowy umbra leggings. To the ankle, then calf. Such scandal, Legate calves are. With a serene expression, there's a twitch in his right cheek, gaze lifting -- glancing around. "Not a single thing in life is ever completely assured," he asides to Giada -- pauses. "This is ethereal, isn't it."

As guests arrive, they can hear the sounds of the vibrant island music playing through the gardens. It's nighttime, but everything is illuminated with hundreds of tiny lanterns hung from any available space. The room sparkles, fragrant with the scent of blooming plants and fresh food on offer. Staff in gold and grey silks, move through the room, offering brightly coloured drinks and offering to take people's shoes.

At the centre of the gardens, stand Cassiopeia next to Savio, the Marquessa of Tremorus is welcoming everyone to their home, with a bright and warm smile. The young woman finds it impossible to keep still with the music playing, and so there is both a bounce to her movements and a melodic thread through her words.

"It is with great joy that I welcome you to the Saffron Festival of Lights. Every year, in Tremorus, we celebrate the light in the darkness. In every challenge, there is always hope. For knowledge can and will triumph over ignorance. A tradition from the times of Dawnsend, it is our way of honouring Gild," a beat, "which we do in part, by giving heaps of silver, in the hopes that someone else will do something great with it. Like we are doing tonight."

"Tremorus has gone through much strife, change and growth over the last two years, but we never lose sight of what we have. We have plenty as a result." The young woman takes in a breath, emotions echoing in her azure blues. "So, before we kick off tonight's festivities, I leave you with a thought...," Eyes light up as she speaks, calm and collected, "even in the darkness moments, it just takes a spark, to light up the room. You are the spark. Each one of you has within you, the capacity to change the life of another," the serious expression shifts so easily into all smiles, as bright as the glittering stones on her jungle-esque outfit. "So, shine as bright as you can."

Lisebet arrives alone, wearing something that doesn't hide her identity this time. It's also not made of cashmere, but a far more glittery fabric. She smiles as she comes in just behind Keely and Nazmir, stopping to look around and read the sign. Before she gets furthere, there's a speech so she stops to listen to that as well.

Captain Mayir Grayhope enters with a certain Karina Seabright on his arm, leading her on into the Palais Proscipi. "A beautiful party, isn't it?" he asks her, curiously, as he takes off his boots as the sign states. "Let us get you a drink to loosen up. Wine?" He glances at her.

Oh, look. Someone invited the horned specter of death.

Well, no. Someone invited Countess Ember Redreef. At least if it was the horned specter of death for /real/, one might be able to count on better conversation. Ember is barefoot. Other than that, she's wearing shadowmeld over every inch of herself -- including a hooded helm with a full-face skull mask and massive horns. No matter what angle the light hits the mask, the eye sockets are pools of perfect blank shadow. It's creepy and unsettling, and probably raises some questions.

What might raise different questions is that Ember, despite wearing this gruesome helmet (to say nothing of her shadowmeld cloak with its bone-spiked shoulders), has a date. Lady Zoey Kennex, voice of one of Ember's liege houses, no less. "...I don't understand poetry," Ember is saying to Zoey, quietly, as the Countess walks with Zoey's arm looped in hers. At least the grim specter of blah blah is a proper escort. "It seems like it would be far more efficient to simply say what you mean in a direct manner."

Aconite shakes her head and turns to Monique, "NO. NOt me, you look so radiant. You'll shine quite brightly all by yourself." Subtley she gestures to the sign with a small amused smile. She reaches ro touch Monique's arm and smiles at Keely in passing. The coral accenting her outfit glimmers as she turns to head back the way she arrived. "Have a good night, twice as good for me." She murmurs to the Lady Greenmarch. As more people she knows arrive she smiles at them in passing such as Titus and Mayir.

Stepping into the Gardens along side Keely, there's a smile that rests easily on Nazmir's lips as his gaze plays about. With his footwear removed and passed off, he's turning his attention to the Princess on his arm and then to the various little bits of decor that get pointed to. There's a little bob of his head in response to it, along with just the hint of a chuckle before he's murmuring, "It is an absolutely exquisite display." His gaze darts about further, taking it all in before he's looking back to her, "Shall we find ourselves a drink? Or should we secure a seat, first?" But then the Marquessa is speaking an dhis gaze is turning over towards her so that he can listen for the moment.

It's hard, perhaps, for Patrizio to be going anywhere without drawing attention - it's what happens when you travel the length and breadth of the city with a sextet of soldiers along with you. But appear he does, in the gardens of the Proscipi grounds, even taking the moments to divest himself of his footwear as requested - and with a look to his soldiers to ensure they do the same - before he's making his way towards joining the others about. Those jade eyes glancing this way and that, as he's nodding to familiar faces, but making his way over to Cassiopeia and Savio to give his regards. "Marquessa. My lord. It's quite the fete that you've put together, and it brings lightness to my heart, to know that we're starting spring with an event on your grounds."

From the entry way a long howl of shouts are followed as Zakhar is very clear about "THOSE ARE MY FEET. No shoes here!" After some discussion over needing to check his toenails he's allowed to continue further into the gardens with the foretelling clicking of bone against stone as he makes use of the carved cane he carries. A large adorned arrowhead sits around his neck catching each glimpse of light trapping the beams forever between facets of sapphires. He nods to Cassiopeia, stopping before Savio and tapping the platform the lord is upon. "Suits you well Savio. The lads should be available to help push you around." Then looking to Cassiopeia, "Marquessa. A good turn out."

Patrizio has joined the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

Savio is here. Savio is unmistakably hear because what he is wearing is an insane gown, tailored for a man but festooned with thousands upon thousands of imitation gems, and a considerable amount of real ones too. The train of the gown is immense, there are sparkles for days, for weeks! So much sparkles, in fact, that the weight of the thing is... prodigious. Savio can't really move around. He is stuck. Ish. There is a small platform involved in the support of the ridiculous garment, and hopefully someone will bring him drinks periodically. If you bring him drinks he is obligated to drink all of them, of course.

Cassiopeia has done the introduction, so it falls to Savio to explain the order of events. "Everyone, please enjoy all the hospitality that Proscipi and the Saffron chain have to offer," he greets, gesturing around at the furnishings, and refreshments! "After everyone gets settled, we will start off with our lucky lantern race, we have lanterns for you and will set them in the water of the Aquatic Gardens to see which one reaches the end of the waterway first! You may use your own lantern as well, if you have one and are so inclined! While you mingle, do not forget to read the poems," he gestures to lovely A-frame stands where the poem entries, all seven, are copied out to read. "And let me know your vote. A bit after the lanterns race, the poem winner will be announced. And of course, the prize winnings delivered. Have fun, lovely ones, and if you entered the contest... good luck!" He strikes a pose for that, dramatic! Then looks around hopefully to see if Orland is around to help him find a drink.

Monique shakes her head to Aconite, the bright red a beacon in the dark to compete with the lights. "Keep your shoes on. It will be fine. I'll smooth things over with Savio. He wouldn't want you to miss this, my sweet Whisper." The Minx reaches out to give the Whisper a little tug. "Please? I cannot imagine being here without you."

A dramatic burst of wind accompanies the arrival of a woman all in silver and gold, as Nina enters the garden. She makes an entrance, taking up space with her sparkling starlight silk cloak. Upon arrival, she sees the alert to remove her shoes. Her entrance made, she slips them off... handing them to an attendant as she walks into the garden now barefoot. Immediately, there is a glass of rum and juice in her hand.

Karina is adorned in a beautiful gown of umbra which has been expertly dyed and faded towards the bottom. Rich colors of purples, oranges and corals - like a sunset peeking over the horizon. Wavy golden brown locks settle over her shoulders with a dazzling jeweled hairpin on one side to tack in a few pieces of hair. She looks to Mayir and smiles - nodding, "Wow, this is beautiful. I wasn't expecting this." she blinks around before taking her heels off - definitely happy to - to be honest.

Sebastian, for once, isn't horrifically late, and that's likely due, in part, to the fact that the event is so close to home. Either someone forgot to remind him of the theme, or more likely, he ignored the clothing that was set out for him, dressed in his usual Pravosi finery. He strides towards Cassiopeia and Savio, offering a kiss to each of their cheeks in turn, eyes bright and visibly admiring. "Everything looks amazing, you both have done a wonderful job. You may have to kick me out later, for all the distractions." He gives a brilliant laugh, and then wanders off to locate a drink.

Positively delighted, Mailys was in the most intoxicated state of being. Dressed in dark silks that clung tightly to her, the raven-haired woman continued to be loosely cloaked in black, swaying about behind her petite figure. Her steps, must shorter than Giorgio's, left her trailing slightly behind as a shadow to the tall man. They both walked the grounds as well accustomed to the Palais, but not arriving from within. She carries her own moon-shaped floating lantern around as they make it into the gardens. Her laughter at something he's muttered is the first herald of the Corsetina's arrival.

Titus enters wearing a rather traditional Sangrian fashion of a very dark crimson, nearly black, trousers and a cloak that is held by a high-necked golden necklace of sorts and sans shirt. He also forgoes shoes or boots, just being barefoot. He hears the words spoken by Cassiopeia and he gives his claps in affirmation of being a spark of sorts. "Well said, marquessa." He heads towards lanterns though.

Zakhar has joined the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

A knightly figure (he totally gets to be that now) appears with a gold brocade vest settled over a fancy umbra shirt, having been on time but not necessarily arriving with his husband, because of hosting duties. Orland Amadeo, the Amadeo, removes his boots at the front and hands them off in exchange for a brightly colored green drink - absinthe? Or just a really fruity drink! It's hard to tell. Orland sips it with some skeptical lift of brow, cynical in fact, as he approaches to listen to the opening speech from his sister-sorta-sister in law. His eyes are floating across all the faces that are present, so many, many and many that he knows on some personal level. Though he's got the night off, as it comes to socializing - right... NOPE. He exhales a breath, takes another long drink, his attention upon Savio with that ... Savio dress of his. A quirk of his lips has him moving in that direction because the dress, doesn't look like it moves that easily. He scoops up another brightly colored drink - this one pink, and wanders it over toward Savio and offers it like magic, out of thin air, "Husband, is this a statue you're wearing or a dress? Can you even move in all that... stone??" He grins.

Aconite says, "It's truly beautiful." She tells Monique and gently steps away, "I will miss it.." She admits staring for a moment at all the the glitz and beauty awash in the garden. But she shakes her head, "This is not about me. I can watch for a moment from afar. Go.. quickly, you'll miss the ceremony of it all." Aconite steps aside to indicate she'll stay by the entrance to watch."

Titus is overheard praising Cassiopeia: It takes just one spark to create a blazing fire. Just one flame to keep away the cold and dark.

Keely smiles warmly as she draws to a halt with Nazmir to listen to Cassiopeia's moving speech, after which she releases the prince's arm momentarily and lifts her delicate hands in gentle applause. After, she reclaims the elbow of her escort and nods eagerly as her eyes turn to the drinks. "Yes-- oh, look," comes the refrain of the evening. "It is Celebrated Whisper Aconite. Have you met? We should--" she is in the process of turning in Aconite's direction with a brilliant and warm smile for the woman before pausing again upon spying Alis. "Oh and my patron is here! Do you know Highlord Alis Valardin?"

Mailys gets a scented candle within half a coconut shell from a gold painted urn offering all sorts of delights.

the beautiful Jennyva enters the room on the arm of a mysterious stranger. Jennyva is wearing a marvelous gown of plum and lavender. The stranger on her arm is dressed in a slinky persimmon dress, wearing an extra agent Volto copper mask.

Zoey smiles to Ember as they walk in together, her shoes dangling from the fingers of her opposite hand. "You are too focused on the destination then," she tells the Countess. "It's about the journey. *How* you get there. It's about artistry and style." When her eyes fall on Savio in all of his glittering radiance, and then Nina looking like starlight given movement and form, she gasps. "Stunning!"

"What an incredible dress you are wearing," Mayir compliments Karina as they move to get some refreshments, sure to get her a glass that is adequately full to help with her socialization butterflies. "And how well you wear it." He winks at her and then waggles fingers at Aconite. "Lady Monique. Whisper Aconite. Do you know the lovely Karina Seabright? A tremendous artist, as well as a person."

Mailys is overheard praising Cassiopeia: What great timing to have a festival!

Once the speech has been concluded, Nazmir gives a soft clasp of his hands before his elbow is reclaimed by his date and his gaze darts back over to her, only to then shift back out amongst the people, "I do not believe I've had the opportunity to meet the Celebrated Whisper before." Catching sight of Alis as Keely looks in that direction, he's looking to the Highlord and then back over towards Keely, a smile tugging to his lips as he gives a nod of his head, "I had the pleasure of meeting the Highlord, once, some years ago."

Monique gives a famous pout up at Aconite. "You won't miss it, because you're coming in. It's *fine*. Here," the Minx motions Primus to her side and then waves him towards Savio with a message. Primus looks disgruntled at having to take his shoes off, but he does it while the Minx turns to greet Mayir and Karina. Her face lights. "Mistress Seabright! Finally, a face to the incredible artwork I have been acquiring with avarice!"

Nazmir gets a scented candle within half a coconut shell from a gold painted urn offering all sorts of delights.

"It's wonderful to see you," Savio cheek-smooches back to Sebastian, with a bit of a bow on his platform to Patrizio as well! Zakhar is beamed at, "It looks amazing, right? Your handiwork!" He'd twirl if it wasn't such a project to turn around in this thing. Orland asks if he can actually move and he ums, "Moving is a group project."

Savio puts a scented candle within half a coconut shell in a gold painted urn offering all sorts of delights.

Primus, First of Monique's Assistants arrives, delivering a message to Savio before departing.

Alis finally winds her way to the hosts of the event, dipping her head towards them with a polite and warm smile. "What a wonderful way to start the Spring. These gardens are among the most lovely I've ever seen; thank you for opening up to all of us." she offers sincerely, turning to head towards the table with the wine laced tea so she doesn't take up too much of their time. And once she is there, her smile brightens upon seeing a very familiar face. "Fancy seeing you here. You aren't sparkly, though." She tucks her hand under his arm and upnods towards some of the seating to see if he'd like to join her. And then recognition hits her again and she smiles broadly at Keely, waving. "Have you met Princess Keely yet?"

Savio murmurs a reassurance to the assistant Primus, sending him back toward Monique!

"Moving Savio will require those four." Zakhar points to the four in the corner wear a similar set of black and purple stripe. "Make use of them Savio. They have been paid to allow you to dance."

Mailys is overheard praising Savio: I feel fine. Really. We're excited. It's a great Festival!

Jennyva gestures to her masked companion towards the princess Keely, "perhaps wherever she sits, she will let us join her."

The Crimson Countess of Redreef Shores inclines her horn-helmeted, skull-faced head to murmur with Zoey for a moment. Despite Ember being by far the taller of the two (thanks to, uh, the horns), she's letting Zoey lead the way around the party. "...artistry and style, indeed," Ember says, as they behold ~ S A V I O ~. It's really not clear if Ember is saying it derisively or not. Just because pretty much everything she says ends up sounding kind of derisive, no matter the intent.

Moving like a very tall statue at Mailys's side is Giorgio Pontelaeus, once Marquis and now Merchant Prince once more of the Saffron city-state of Tremorus. Clad in a set of fine cashmere, the man has to stoop somewhat as he mutters quietly to the lady at his side, smiling as he straightens and allows his eyes to shift about to all of the guests that have made their way to the manor this evening. He offers a polite bow of the head to Savio and Cassiopeia where they stand greeting those arriving, but he does not move take up a place in the line, moving instead to the side and saying, "Prince Sebastian! It has been a long while, indeed. I trust that you are well? Care for a drink?" He gestures vaguely toward one of the house servants, carrying about the booze.

Giada's eyes are rolling so hard at her cushions that she almost falls over. Whatever Vayne said was a good one.

Orland checks dexterity and performance at normal. Botch! Orland fails completely.

As Primus returns back to Monique with Savio's assurances, Monique turns back to Aconite. "See? *See*? Everyone adores you and it won't be a party if you don't come, my sweet Protege."

Someone wearing a volto mask of Copper Jubilation with a spray of painted wildflowers cascading down the cheek has joined the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

Cassiopeia seems delighted to see all the people filling the gardens, the smile on her lips brighten and the greets everyone in return. "Welcome, hello, so lovely to see you," she murmurs to Patrizio, Sebastian and then Titus. "I am glad you could come celebrate with us, it's a very good start to the spring, and thank goodness for that." The young woman offers her words, and a few personalized ones, as she moves through those that approach. Then seeing Giorgio, she winks at him, before turning her attention back to the guests. Someone places a glass of vibrant pink punch, she takes a sip, every movement causes an onslaught of sparkle when the beads and gems catch the light.

Aconite laughs and shakes her head at the pout. "Never you worry about me. I'm as satisfied watching as I am participating, Lady." She reassures Monique. Keely's greeting gaining a bright smile past Monique and a wiggle of her fingers and an amused smile, each movement like something dark slithering in deeplight coral under midnight crystal waters. "I have not." She tells Mayir and drops into a boneless curtsey to Karina. "It's a pleasure to meet you. That Mayor speaks for you is worthy of noting." Moanique's message about her shoes make her look embaressed but the tall Whisper nods slowly, "If the host says it's all right."

Karina blushes - a shy smile given to Mayir on compliment of her dress. "Thank you. Lady Thesbe made it for me." a soft remark before he's guiding her to Monique and Aconite. "A pleasure to you both." a polite curtsy is given by the petite brunette. "Oh!" a raise of brow to Monique, "I'm so glad your enjoying my works. I'm truly honored Lady Monique."

Seeing Aconite occupied, Keely simply casts a luminous smile her way and lifts her free hand for a subtle wave of greeting before she turns and tips her head toward Alis, with a glance up to Nazmir. The pair set off across the garden together, pausing for rum-spiked coconut milk on the way. "My wonderful Patron," she greets the Highlord in soft, warm tones as they near. "This is Prince Nazmir Redrain, who claims to have met you some time ago, but introductions just in case."

Titus has joined the a set of rattan whicker chairs with luxurious white cotton cushions.

Late and without her normal escort for these types of evenings, the Marquessa of Inverno makes her way through the Proscipi estate, easily following the noise to the Festival of Lights. She makes no effort to suppress the delight at seeing the garden so transformed for the evening, and she takes a long, lingering moment near the entrance to drink it all in. Only when she's had her fill do her dark eyes attempt to discern faces in the crowd. She spies Keely and her hand lifts to wave, and then Sebastian, Patrizio, a few others. All are met with a smile, but Tyche moves to find a refreshment.

Jennyva has joined the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

Karina takes a scented candle within half a coconut shell from a gold painted urn offering all sorts of delights.

Orland offers the pink colored drink to Savio, "It'll keep you out of trouble." His eyes flicker around to notice Sebastian, nodding his head to one of the Choir, as he sips from his very green drink. "I'll leave you to host, and be over there if you need anything, just call for me..." Orland is trying to slink away to check out the little lanterns where the races will be! He was totally going to go for like some parkour antics here because he can. If he did it right, it'd totally look cool, it'd totally be a hit of the Astounding Amadeo... but no, nope, not today! That's the fate of those trying to look too cool for school! In his parkour attempt to skip leap to the other side of the lanterns set up for racing in the pond - he ABSOLUTELY STUNS THE CROWD ... by missing his mark! His feet slip out from underneath him and he's SPLOOSHING right into the pond itself and probably SQUISHING some of those poor little lanterns with his sudden flailing and thrashing about. He's drowning! OH NO. Nope, it's fine. Everything's fine. He rolls out the other side and is no longer a cool kid. DENIED access, for life. Ow.

"You know I would never say no, Giorgio," Sebastian answers the Pontelaeus with a smile even before he turns to regard the man. "You're looking well." He takes a glass of what seems to be red liquid from one of the servers, but doesn't immediately drink it. "Mailys, you look well," he greets her, too, with a smile. "I, ah," and then someone's slipping a hand through his arm, and he turns to spot Alis, brightening. "High Lady Alis. Yes, I'm afraid I didn't get the memo about the theme," he's lying, probably, but he's also doing it smoothly enough and with a joyful, dismissive laugh. "Do you know Giorgio and Mailys? And no, I haven't had the pleasure. Introduce me to your protege," he follows her gaze towards Keely.

"Thank you!" Nina says, raising a glass to Zoey as she's greeted. "I wish I'd had time to contribute a poem, but I've been sewing and mixing drinks all week! And now... I can relax." She takes a long drink, half emptying the glass.

"I'm pleased to have been able to make it." Patrizio smiles warmly to both Cassiopeia and Savio, though he's offering a bit of a bow, and easing back, the better to not be monopolizing their time when he knows they're so busy with the running of the thing. "Warmonger," he offers, to Titus as well, though there's the brief press of his palm to Sebastian's shoulder, before he's liberating drinks from a tray close by to offer one to his cousin. Clearly, someone understands the need for drinks at a time like this, before he's lifting the glass to Tyche as well, to offer up that untouched glass to her as he's already moving to liberate another for himself.

"Ooh. That looks absolutely delicious," is what Nazmir offers as they set off, only to make a quick stop for the rum-spiked coconut milk and when they resume their course, only to come before Alis, there's a quick smile given. With introductions happening once again, the Redrain Prince dips his head in a respectful bow, even as he offers up, "Highlord. It is a pleasure and an honor."

Lisebet makes her way through, definitely glittering in the light. Sparkly. She pauses to get a drink, and then moves to greet the hosts. "Marquessa, Lord Savio, thank you so much for hosting," she says simply. She nods to Alis and Keely, catching sight of them as well.

Vayne looks entirely too composed, glancing over the partygoers -- and then he gazes back to accept a glass that's handed to him by Giada.

Zoey guides Ember toward Savio, by way of a refreshment table for a fig and a glass of wine first, which she uses to lift toward Nina as well. "I hope you will allow him at least a little trouble," she tells Orland when they are finally close enough. "It is a party, after all."

Ember offers Nina a nod of her helmeted head, but before she can speak in the conversation between herself, Nina, and Zoey, there goes Orland doing his thing. "Oh, no," Ember says, sounding completely unconcerned. "Lord Orland appears to have died."

"Mistress Seabright, you honor *us* with your works," Monique insists with a deep smile, moving to shepherd the group into the festivities proper, unwinding the ribbon from her endless legs to step out of her own slippers. Primus takes charge of them with a long-suffering inaudible sigh. "Shall we find a place and some drinks? I have all the intention in the world of getting drunk and naked in the pools later."

Savio pouts as Orland says the heavy-ass Gemstone Gown will keep him out of trouble. "Zakhar has the shop lads here to help me. It'll just be trouble with friends." His drink is accepted and he lets Orland scamper off to... fall in the pond. Orland just deadass ran into the pond. In front of everyone. Royalty, luminary crafters, everyone. Awkward pause, then... elegant gesture. "...And that is where the lantern racing will be!"

There's a stifled snort of amusement from Giada, a big cheese eating grin on her face as Orland wipes out in the pool. Slowly, she begins to clap.

"Prince Nazmir. Yes, it's been some time. A pleasure to see you again." Alis smile remains bright, while she grabs a tall glass of the fruit tea and wine mix with her free hand and toasts both Keely and Nazmir with it before taking a sip. "Mmhmm." she replies, in amused disbelief towards Sebastian before gesturing towards Keely. "My protege, Princess Keely Grayson. And Prince Nazmir Redrain." Before her gaze turns to Giorgio and Mailys. "A pleasure."

Savio is overheard praising Orland: Thank you for helping introduce the locations of the events, Orland.

Mailys makes an effort to wave or dip a moving head at the hosts Cassiopeia and Savio, Orland, Titus, even Mayir looks to be here. She looks inquisitive about what the alcohol offered nearby. There are simply too many people here to make any sort of single round of greetings as she follows Giorgio over to greet Prince Sebastian. "Your Highnesses," Mailys bowed to Sebastian and then to Alis. "No, I do not think I have had the pleasure of meeting prior."

"Unlike Orland," Monique adds, looking to The Amadeo.

Mayir seems pleased to make the introductions, particularly as Monique speaks of the avarice with which she is acquiring Karina's pieces. "Well. I am glad that my recommendation means so much to you, Whisper Aconite." He bows his head to her and sips from his wine. "I am so rarely a tastemaker." And there is Mailys! Mailys gets a finger waggle.

Orland staggers up, who ordered up the drowned rat, "You love me still right?" This is to Savio, as he stands up, clamoring out of his stockings, "I BLAME THE SOCKS. They're silk." Clearly.

Ember sounds equally unconcerned when she corrects herself: "Never mind, he's still alive."

Orland is trying to put one of the lanterns back together. It looks a little butt smooshed. Ooop, there's another one, a little leaning to the size but it'll totally be okay. Orland tries to straighten it up a little.

Karina's eyes light up and her smile grows wider - paired with cute little dimples when hearing Monique. She waves a hand dismissively, and chuckles nervously, "Well I'm glad either way. To have my paintings be coveted by the Minx of Marches. Well, I've heard so much about you." she nods. To Aconite, she offers a warm smile, "Aww, well, I'm glad that Captain Mayir is my escort for the evening. He's been wonderful thus far." The painter looks to Mayir, arm hooked on his with hand along his forearm. She'd give it a reassuring squeeze and stayed close to him. Still a bit timid with all of the people around.

Zoey withdraws her hand from Ember to cover her mouth when Orland has his incident with the pond. "I dare say he will recover," she tells Ember dryly. "Lord Savio, you look amazing," she tells him. And to Zakhar she adds, "That is some amazing work."

Monique has joined the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Smiles for Jennyva, for Lisebet, and-- oh, Tyche gets a little gasp and Keely briefly turns a bit to rise onto her toes and ensure the Marquessa Inverno sees her outfit-- before she returns her focus to Alis and company. She lifts her coconut rum in toast likewise before pausing awkwardly pre-sip to smile at Sebastian. "Your highness," she assumes after a glance at his hand that she clearly hopes to be subtle. "A pleasure to meet you."

"All the credit goes to Zakhar," Savio gives credit where it is due, to Zoey. "He is brilliant. Have you voted for a poem, lady Zoey?"

Giorgio offers an elegant bow toward Alis as Sebastian does the honor of introducing him to the Valardin High Lord, his posture and movements as refined as any Whisper or Prince. "It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance, Your Grace. I do not believe that we have ever met, though it has been a hope of mine for some time," he says before lifting a hand to wave down a server to bring over a tray of fine Arakkoan rum. He motions for five drinks and then begins to hand them out, first to Sebastian and then holding one toward Alis and Keely, "Princess Alis, Princess Keely, join us for a drink, yes?"

Aconite waits for Monique and the other to remove their shoes before daintily taking a few steps into the garden paying close attention to each step she takes, "You are so." She clucks her tongue at Mayir, "I wouldn't expect such modesty from you." She teases while she waits for Monique. A breif oncern taking her features when Orland wipes out. She follows Monique over to the hammock. "My eyes can't seem to focus anywhere."

Aconite has joined the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Karina has joined the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Ember has joined the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Nina looks over at the pond, smiling a little bit, mildly, at Orland as he totally didn't embarrass himself at all. She looks at Ember as the helmet turns her way. "That's a lot of armor to wear to a party, but it's very impressive. I like to keep things light!" Her cape swishing behind her, she finds a pillow to settle into and a second helping of drink.

Nina has joined the a pile of silk and cotton pillows.

Half-turning at that clasp to his shoulder, Sebastian gives Patrizio an effortless grin, and a lift of his glass in toast. The same gesture is repeated for Orland, except this time he actually sips, making an appreciative, faint noise of approval. And then the introductions, and he nods to Keely and Nazmir in turn. "Your highnesses," his smile brightens. "Her Grace has spoken glowingly of you, Princess Keely, so you have found an excellent benefactor in her." He leans, briefly, forward to murmur something quietly to Nazmir, looking amused as he straightens. The offer of rum requires conceding his glass of wine, though he does so. It's tradition, after all. He lifts it in salute towards Giorgio, even as he says, "Rum is much better on the water, but who am I to begrudge tradition?"

Zoey has joined the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Giorgio has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Alis has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

"I have not had a chance to read them yet, but I will," Zoey promises Savio.

Sebastian has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Monique snorts an inelegant laugh at Ember's quip, lifting a hand to the Crimson Countess. "Join us, my darling Destruction?" She catches Sebastian's mention of rum and her nose wrinkles in a certain familiar way but then the Minx has spotted the hammocks. And who can resist? This is where she guides the group, snagging drinks on the way. "I am the very *soul* of modesty, Aco! There is no one more modest than I. Oathlands born, you know."

Tyche is just in time to watch Orland's performance, and she blinks, a quick sound that might be a laugh bubbling up that she absolutely does not let escape, and then she's claiming a drink to cover up that laugh she never actually expelled. She turns back to faces she knows, a moment spared Keely and her /dress/. Brows arch in curious delight, and if the younger woman looks over she'll receive a lifting of her glass in admiration. But she makes no move to interrupt the introductions over there, instead turning to find a couch to lounge against and watch. That just so happens to be where Alis and Sebastian sit!

Tyche has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Titus makes his way towards a long table with native dishes. The fruits are skipped, but he does take some of the leaf packets of peppers and a few of the flowers that are decorating the table. Mmmm. Plate in hand as he tries his best to look the part of a party-goer, he stands like a pale statue near some chairs to watch the festivities.

When Nina issues judgment on Ember's armored self, Ember replies: "I assure you, Messere, it is like a second skin to me by now." Exactly what someone wearing a skull over their face should probably be saying. She looks to Savio and Zakhar for a moment, and then offers to Savio: "You look utterly bizarre. But you look utterly bizarre in a way that captures you perfectly. We should all hope for as much in life." Then she's wandering toward the hammocks, motioning for Zoey to follow. "Of course, Lady Monique." How's she going to drink anything, wearing that mask?

When Alis lifts that toast, Nazmir is doing the same, his own coconut rum brought in a little toast, even as he gives another incline of his head to the High Lord. Then, his gaze drifts over towards Sebastian, to whom he's offering a smile and a little dip of his head, "Your Highness." Of course, then there's a cant of his head so that he might little to that murmur and whatever is said is enough to draw a soft laugh from his lips, one that comes with a nod of his head and a quick murmur in return.

Alis is not familiar with this tradition, but she does /obviously/ love tradition. So she surrenders her spiked tea and takes the offered glass of rum. "I do enjoy a good rum. Is this a sipping tradition, or an all in one go?" she wonders, because apparently there are both and she has to get this right.

Keely's eyes grow as Giorgio is presenting her with a drink, and for some reason the choice she makes is to swiftly down her current drink and set the vessel aside, immediately resulting in vibrant pink cheeks in place of the fair ones she began with. She then smiles and reaches to accept the rum with a dip of her chin and a soft, "Thank you," both for the invitation to sit and the beverage. That pink only deepens at Alis' praise via Sebastian, and her dark eyes dip away demurely as she steps to settle into the offered seat, releasing Nazmir so that he may comfortably settle into his own.

Keely has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Nazmir has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Savio bows at the waist to Ember, theatrically. That's like the extent of his range of motion here unless he summons Zak's shop lads. "No higher compliment. I couldn't be normal if I tried, so I stopped trying a long time ago."

Orland totally just made a splash! Not embarrassed at all! Orland recovers well by going to slinking to a pile of pillows after one of the assistants hands him a towel to dry off. Okay, just a touch embarrassed.

Titus has left the a set of rattan whicker chairs with luxurious white cotton cushions.

Titus has joined the a set of rattan whicker chairs with luxurious white cotton cushions.

"oh, I'm finding my way very well, especially with my new friend. She has a remarkable sense of direction!" Jennyva smiles to Joey

Zakhar has wandered off to find a seat, barely hearing his name being called out by Savio and is responded with a customary two-fingered salute behind him as he seeks out somewhere to sit.

Mailys has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Someone wearing a volto mask of Copper Jubilation with a spray of painted wildflowers cascading down the cheek is settled quietly next to Jennyva, the mask possibly hiding the grin on their lips, they are watching and listening to all the conversations but for now remain mysteriously quiet

Arakkoan servants mill about, preparing for the next stage of the festival, which seems to focus around a large table of colourful paper lanterns and a waterway that flows through the indoor gardens. The music shifts, from something fast and upbeat, to soft and conducive to speaking over a crowd. And so Cassiopeia, who is tell enough, not to have to stand up on anything, lifts a hand to signal her speech.

A bright smile lights her up, outfit shimmering as she moves. "I invite you all to take part in the first of two competitions tonight. The Lucky Lantern race!," she announces. "This is one of my favourite activities, as it is both fun to participate and to watch. In Tremorus, we would do this at the end of the festival, sending our lanterns into the night, little lights, carrying through the darkness."

Turning her attention to Savio, she beams with pride before saying, "I invite Lord Savio to go over the logistics for the race, and remind folks that the prize for the race, is two hundred thousand silver. So I encourage everyone to participate. Best of luck!" Cassiopeia applauds, seeming still caught by the music and the lights around her, eyes wide with ever wonder.

Zoey tears her attention away from the poems, quickly casts her vote, then follows after Ember.

Jennyva suddenly looks to her masked companion as a messenger has just delivered a note to the lady of house shepherd, "oh, I'm afraid I've been called away. I am so sorry I won't be able to keep you company tonight, perhaps you can find me tomorrow. Please enjoy your stay. The guests here among the best our society has to offer. They will treat you most well as my friend, I have no doubt."

After Cassiopeia has introduced the lantern-racing activity, Savio picks up with the rules! "We have plenty of lanterns for everyone, although it appears some have been... Orland-ed upon." Squashed a bit. "Simply take a lantern you like -- or one you brought, if you did -- and set it in the water, where the water is flowing. And then hope that luck is with you!" There are plenty of things for lanterns to get hung up on, like lily pads and rocks, and some lanterns might sink because Orland's ass crumpled them. But one lucky lantern will be the first to travel from the starting point down the little creek to the end of the garden. "Ready? Everyone gather..." And once they have, Savio lifts both arms. "Begin!"

Hearing the calling for the race, those jade eyes of Patrizio's lift from the conversations in which he's engrossed, turning to look towards Savio at Cassiopeia's direction. And then while listening, he mindfully looks over at the lanterns, as if to contemplate which one he might choose...

Nina hearst the contest is about to begin, and gets to her feet again excitedly. The lack of shoes makes this easy, though she almost spills her drink. "Before I get settled in, I'll play the game! Can't pass up a good party game!"

Jennyva has left the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

Mistress Vivika, Dame Alisane, Mistress Aurelia, Banda the Bard leave, following Jennyva.

Zakhar gets up from his seat to set the lantern into the water and gives it a little nudge watching it for a moment to bump into another and start burning from the wrong end.

"There's a lesson here," Vayne deadpans.

Orland did not just invent the best sabotage scheme ever, did he? He totally didn't mean to sink /that/ many lanterns. HE TOTALLY SAVED one for himself though, so don't you all worry! When the contest is called for, he winks at the Legate and the Archlector, before he damp walks himself toward the edge of the pond, totally innocent like. He gives his lantern a little boop to start it off in all the carnage. NOT HIS FAULT. Y'all can't sail lanterns!

It's probably a mistake that Monique stays in the hammock to light her lantern. Lounging lazily, her long bronze legs tangled in the dark of her dress, she doesn't bother to get up. She glances aside to Aconite and murmurs, "What do you wager that I can light and launch it with only my bare feet?"

Nina puts a lantern in the water. She's quite pleased with it - all silver and purple and decorated with a butterfly. But in the end, it's not very good at floating... and sinks into the water without making it to th first mark. "Oh, alas," she says, and gets a third drink as her little candle is snuffed.

Titus didn't bring a lantern so he opts to choose one that is available here. His uniquely Orland-backside shaped squished lantern is lit and set on the water to let it sail. In a rather bizarre spectacle, FWOOOSH it goes up in flames until the little cindered frame sinks into the depths of the water below. Titus stares as only a few ripples show where his lantern was. "This seems normal." he says.

Giada lights her lantern with the ease of someone used to using flint scissors and then watches while people struggle. "Okay..." She walks carefully around the crush and gently pushes her lucky lamp forward.

"I wouldn't know, I fear, what the lesson is, Legate," Patrizio says mindfully as he overhears Vayne, as he's watching his own lantern apparently seem to founder and meander about, before a smile finds his lips, and he's chuckling despite himself. "Save that the world is fickle, and the gods need find their amusement where they can, in frustrating our hopes with the random eddies of fate."

Someone wearing a volto mask of Copper Jubilation with a spray of painted wildflowers cascading down the cheek send the lantern they have down in the water and nudges it foward to watch how far it makes it

Giada lights her lantern with the ease of someone used to using flint scissors and then watches while people struggle with paper going up in whooshes or floundering in the water. "Okay... So not like that." She walks carefully around the crush and gently pushes her lucky lamp forward. <fix for clarity>

Ember selects a lantern and places it into the water. She's representing both herself and Zoey, so this is a testament to what Houses Redreef and Kennex can do when they work together. Ember's lantern, upon being placed down, immediately sinks to the bottom. Ember stares at this for a long time, then turns and stares over at Orland for an equally long time. "Hm." Then Ember turns and walks back to the hammock. She tried.

Standing to the side, so she can watch the lanterns float down the water feature, the excitement brims and she is clapping for the assortment of lanterns, despite the challenges of their journey. Rather, she is just celebrating and encouraging the participate. Leaning towards Savio, she murmurs something to him, with a little twisted smile.

Keely hops up to make her way to the water's edge, nudging her lantern into the water. It bobs on out... and runs right into Titus', sharing in its fiery fate. She looks mildly distressed, her empathy apparently extending to inanimate objects, and she clasps her hands over her heart as she watches the two, consumed in flame, sink below the surface. She looks aside to Titus as if perhaps this was her fault, then slowly shuffles back to her seat.

Aconite glances at Monique, "Why?" She asks, not noticing that flames have sarted to smoke oddly until she looks down and watches as the lantern continues to smoke if a bit slower than others. Vayne's comment gains a quiet chuckle and she steps back folding her hands in front of her. "At least some seem to have made it." She muses to herself.

Giorgio and Mailys seem to debate about the rules involved. She ends with, "I don't trust your lanterns. I brought my own." As fires start to erupt on the waterside. She lets her moon-shaped lantern down, regulation measurements to the others, and yet her own. The candle in the centre burns without wild flaring, and the lantern seem water-worthy. It looks like a good start. Not a conspiracy at all, no.

It's a difficult thing, getting up from too-comfortable pillows, but Sebastian manages it, helping Alis upwards and making his way over to select a lantern before letting it free. He tracks its movement for a long time, drawn by the gleam of the flame.

Mayir has joined the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Savio applauds daintily, fingertips to palm. "You are all doing brilliantly!" Are they thooooough

"Just to see if I can," Monique says to Aconite with a blazing smile in return. "Thus, the basis for most of the things I have done in my life." And she sets about attempting it. But the hammock rocks dangerously, throwing everything off and all of a sudden something is on fire but it's not the lantern. It's the hammock.

Giada checked luck at difficulty 20, rolling 12 lower.

Tyche checked luck at difficulty 20, rolling 15 lower.

Titus says to Keely, "A pity there's no singed eyebrows yet. That'd have been excellent to watch. Very entertaining."

Nina laughs at the little lanterns. They're trying so hard! "At this distance, I can't even tell which lantern is whose," she says. "I hope they don't all sink before they get to the goal. It's such a pretty sight."

"Perhaps." Vayne responds to Patrizio, patiently, and then he offers another dry thought. "Or the importance of safety around fire."

Alis struggles to leave the comfort of those couches. Really she does, but the assistance makes it so much easier and she shares a laughing comment with Sebastian before attempting to float a lantern. Attempt being the operative word. And, failing miserably. "Welp. I'm no sailor. But I do have a sailor themed outfit. It's as close as I get."

Sebastian checked luck at difficulty 20, rolling 10 lower.

Mayir checked luck at difficulty 20, rolling 6 lower.

Giada watches her lantern go up in flames before it gets too much further. "And thus ended my short-lived career as a ship's captain, a brilliant beginning that went up in smoke."

Aconite checked luck at difficulty 20, rolling 5 lower.

Popping up, Nazmir moves to quickly procure a lantern, only so that it can be placed into the water. Of course, his doesn't even really start floating in the right direction, drawing a chuckle and a shake of his head before he's moving back to his seat.

Zakhar checked luck at difficulty 20, rolling 12 higher.

Monique is too busy trying to scramble off the smoking hammock and put out the blaze at the same time that she doesn't notice her lantern catch fire. It's up in the air. But it won't be for long. Smoke and flame send it crashing down into the crowd.

Patrizio checked luck at difficulty 20, rolling 7 lower.

Eventually, Sebastian's lantern gutters out, as if by some wind. Whether it made it anywhere is kind of hard to say, but he can't see it clearly anymore.

Zakhar's little burning lantern manages to sizzle out, leaving something to keep drifting along. Only instead of going the correct direction has somehow found its way to bounce along edge of the pool setting some of the fauna hanging over stone on fire as it bumps its way along.

Aconite watches her poor lantern, the small smoke becomes more smoke and the lantern eventally sinks. Looking back to Monique and she lifts her shoulders before lifting her eyes to watch the floating ash, "At least it's lovely." She murmurs before looking back to the others at the hammock. "If you'll excuse me?" The Whisper murmurs to the gathered there.

Aconite has left the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Tyche sets her lantern to the water quite delicately, crouched as she is. And it begins to immediately list to one side, the flame inside dancing to tickle one wall. "No, no, no," she orders the inanimate object to obey, her hand jutting out to try to correct, but she just manages to set it the other way before it floats out of reach. Slowly she watches the flame catch, the lantern burn in a blaze of glory, and then never quite make it much further before it stops to taunt her. "Well. That is promising," she laughs.

Clapping at the progress of her lantern, Mailys is only distracted by the talk between Sebastian, Giorgio, Tyche, and others at the couches. "Yes! Go day-moon, go!" She looked very pleased, pulling on Giorgio's sleeve much to his 'joy' (she's so sure) at her rubbing it in.

Monique has left the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Primus, First of Monique's Assistants, Tertius, Third of Monique's Assistants leave, following Monique.

Delighted, Cassiopeia looses herself in a laugh that causes her stomach muscles to tense and relax. It's a full laugh, and she claps for everyone, as she watches those lanterns make their way down the water, well some. There is much excitement, and she stands back so she can appreciate it in fullness. There is a brief moment, in all the happiness, that her eyes flicker with a deeper sadness, but her smile forms, and everything seems right again. An emotional sort, she plays through a series, her own silent celebration. "I cannot wait to see which one makes it," she murmurs to those closest to her. "It looks like anything could happen!"

Karina and Mayir go off to each get a lantern, the first ones didn't really do well. She managed to save both before they ended up swallowed by one of the bigger fish in the pond. At the second try however, hers finally seemed to gain some traction and floats while Mayir's does indeed set ablaze.

1 Iron Guardsmen, 3 Black Fleet Reavers, Moonsilver, the pale-feathered raven arrive, following Raven.

It's not to be, it would seem, Patrizio's lantern that would be the one to make it all the way to the end. Indeed, there's the foundering of the thing where it is - it's not sinking, which is a credit more to the maker of the lanterns than to the prince's ability to successfully launch one - but it is not indeed making its way with any haste down with the flow. And the prince seems to be taking it in good stride as he chuckles, sipping his drink. "This is why I'm a general," he opines, "and not in command of anything upon the waves."

Zoey has left the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Octavian, a silken spaniel have been dismissed.

Titus has left the a set of rattan whicker chairs with luxurious white cotton cushions.

Zoey has joined the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Capt'n Waddles the small cock with a bell arrives, delivering a message to Aconite before departing.

The lanterns RACE! Elegantly and with... no problems whatsoever! Away and away they go, and two are pulling away from the rest... Zakhar and Mailys, with Orland's some ways behind. Closer... so close... the FIRST one to reach the end of the garden's waterway belongs to MAILYS!!

Aconite watches the outcome of the race as she winds around through the party, greeting people as she passes. Keely and Patrizio among them. She then wanders for the exit giving herself time to look over all of the outfits and to linger near the statue of Cesare for a moment before passing for the exit.

"Well," says Mayir, as he watches his lantern light ablaze on the water. "I figured that is what would happen. But." The lantern sinks under the water, blub, blub, blub. "Oh. Hey! Look! Yours is going. But. Hey! Mailys! But still!" He is pleased that HERS didn't sink.

A pause, and Vayne lowers his hands to his lap, offering a respectful inclination of his head forward when Giada makes the introduction. An inky spill of hair slips from his left shoulder, and he carefully tucks it back. His smile is small -- self-aware, and faintly wry. "Yes. Legate Vayne, an honor, Suspire Nina.

Briar, the fleet and agile shrike, Alejandro, a gravely sober middle-aged Torean leave, following Aconite.

Briar, the fleet and agile shrike arrives, delivering a message to Zakhar before departing.

"This is one of those moments I must realize that lantern racing is not in my wheelhouse," Tyche murmurs as the winners are announced, and she stands from her place where she had encouraged the lantern off to its demise and returns to the couches with a clapping of her hands for the victors.

There is vibrancy in every movement, and Cassiopeia lights up as the lantern race comes to an end. There were movements she looked like she might just jump, excited to see the twists and turns that play out during the course. But, there is only one winner, and the young woman brings her hands together, in a rousing applause. "The journey is the best part," she winks turning to Savio as he announces the winner, she encourages them to come forward. A steward holding a gold tray with a black velvet bag of coins on it, steps forward to award the winner. Cassiopeia takes the bag and hands it over to Mailys, leaning to murmur, "well done Mailys!," she steps back and claps her hands, watching some of the boats still smouldering in the night.

Raven has joined the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

Someone wearing a volto mask of Copper Jubilation with a spray of painted wildflowers cascading down the cheek claps for Mailys as her win is announced, waiting for the event to continue

Savio doesn't seem too upset to see lanterns gettin SET THE HELL ON FIRE, being a creature of intrinsic chaos. "Congratulations Mailys!" he cheers as her lil lantern is the first to the end! "Zakhar, very close, top marks! Orland...." what to say about Orland. "You tried!"

Sebastian's once more lounging on the pillows when the winners are announced. "Mailys Corsetina!" he calls, delightedly, turning his gaze towards the woman and clapping delightedly.

"Thank you, Marquessa! You have no idea how pleased I am- how lucky even." Her poor assistant Five has to find a way to instruct someone to get that chest to the bank. She bows to Savio for his congratulations. Her name comes up over the crowd to which she waves and thanks people.

As Mailys is announced the winner, Nazmir is lifting his hands to clap, loudly, even as he calls out, "Congratulations!"

Giorgio rises to his feet, both to dutifully clap as Mailys is announced the winner, AND to retrieve a fresh bottle of rum which he then puts to work refilling the glasses over at the whicker rattan couch before he reseats himself. His cheeks are growing warm, signifying that the booze is likely getting to the Merchant Prince a bit.

Orland waves from his spot on the pile of pillows where he was chilling with the the godly types, grinning impishly toward Savio.

Karina looks on as all the lanterns either set ablaze, or get drawn into the water - but Mailys' is still going and the painter starts to clap! She gently swaying in place - rocking back and forth on her heels, then looks to Mayir. "Well, I won't judge your paper lantern skills for your captaining abilities." she smirks, teasing the Grayhope. A tilt of her head and she replies to Zoey, "Oh, well I hope so. We've been pen pals back and forth and he's showed me his own Art studio." she nods at that.

Sitting over there with the half drowned Orland, Giada can't help but start laughing again when Savio offers his husband the best praise he can muster. Poor Orland. Giada is definitely laughing at.

Mailys gets a floating lantern shaped like the pale daytime moon.

Raven slinks in beyond fashionably late but at least she's fashionably dressed, scanning the crowd and making her way towards Patrizio and Zakhar, trying to do so as unobtrusively as she can.

Patrizio is not one perhaps to whistle or the like, but there's very pleased applause at the pronouncement of Mailys as the winner, the prince glancing to see where the good messere is settled. And a laugh slides from him easily. "I have thoughts that perhaps I need practice this in the future, in some of the locales with currents here in the ward, to ensure we do better next time..." Though Raven's arrival gets a subtle nod, as if he's trying to help not draw attention to her.

Savio spends a moment studying the lantern situation to make sure the whole Palais doesn't burn down for a moment, then he claps. "Again, congratulations to our lovely winner, and for the rest of you," a grin, "Better luck next year, but well and entertainingly done all the same. Please take a moment to enjoy the hospitality, read the posted poems, and do not forget to vote -- there is half a million silver counting on these votes!"

"Drink, eat, just be," Cassiopeia concurs with Savio as he makes a few announcements. Moving with a subtle sway of hips in tune to the music, bare feet wander from where the lantern races were, and Cassiopeia takes the small break to find another drink. It gives her a moment, to pause and take a moment to greet guests, and exchange a few quiet murmurs with staff on occasion. Her attention is focused on hosting, though any moment to just sway to familiar music and indulge in the bounty of food, is seized shamelessly.

Lisebet claps and cheers those folks testing their luck with the lanterns. She finds herself watching with some joy at the beauty of it all. Her drink finished, she rises to her feet, and moves to head off. "Thank you for the wonderful event," she calls. "It's lovely." And then she slips out.

Someone wearing an enigmatic Eurusi-inspired veil of steel lustre, shimmering with a prismatic dark rainbow overlay of duskweave enters the Palais Gardens late. Hair the color of stars tumbles in a long, straight fall from the crown of the woman's regal head, sliding like moonlight along a commanding gown of sheer icy steelsilk, accented with steel-hued leather detailing, a gown that manages to capture both known and unknown while leaving endless space inbetween for possibility.
he only jewelry that adorns her proud, unbending form is the necklace around her neck, designed with an array of brilliant white diamonds and deep red rubies set in the finest stygian metal, so it appears as if a glittering rain of jewels covers her neck and upper chest, with a distinct clasp designed as the gauntlet of House Pravus' sigil. It may look familiar to some.

Ramona - A Guard in Ashford House Colours, Bigsby - A Thoughtful Looking Young Man in Nondescript Clothing, 2 Ashford Archer, 1 Ashford Scout leave, following Lisebet.

Mailys waves to Patrizio who catches her green gaze from the couches. Or she think's that's his hair. It looks like his hair from here. She's has a new glass raised, and seems to be enjoying the talk of sailing and money where she sits.

As the evening continues, the music becomes softer, ushering the change in activities. Silk draped Arakkoan servants enter with large trays of desserts, fresh fruits and nuts. Little cakes soaked in thick cream, mounds of coconut dipped in a hibiscus glaze, dried slices of exotic fruit dipped in chocolate and roasted figs stuffed with goat cheese and drizzled with honey. A vibrant sparkling pink wine is poured in glasses, and passed to those that wish a lighter drink with the sweet fare.

A messenger enters just after the bejeweled woman, and Tyche's hands close over a note. She unfolds it, sucks in a quick breath, and then makes her quick farewells to those around her. "I sadly have to deal with this. Please keep me informed on this second masked woman," she nods to the figure, and then slips out.

Tyche has left the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

A lift of his glass back to Mailys - it is, indeed, Patrizio who is spied and he chuckles briefly before he's easing back into his own conversation.

A barefoot Silent Reflection enters, apparently even the Faith's criminals observing the sign outside, and walks over to give Giada a message. She reads it and then hands it to Vayne. "We should probably head over there, Father Vayne," she murmurs, levity fading as work rears its head again.

Nina, one with a keen eye for fashion and performance, immediately looks over to the woman in the mysterious veil, and looks at her necklace. A sparkle of recognition crosses Nina's blue eyes. "Oh, how fabulous. I love a good dramatic entrance."

Someone wearing a volto mask of Copper Jubilation with a spray of painted wildflowers cascading down the cheek curiously watches the other person who enters the event wearing the vail, her eyes widening at the sight of the necklace but they remain queit watching and listening for now

A mysterious woman arrives in an equally mysterious -- but perhaps known to some through stories! -- necklace, and Savio seems to know her. "Ah, all of you, allow me to introduce you to my friend Marquessa Amberskip," he gestures at the veiled woman, "Recently of the Saffron chain itself, and thus so welcome at our festival. You are on Saffron time though, I see," he dryly informs this guest, "You missed all the fire." Shoo-shoo gesture. "Mingle, dear one, everyone would like to meet you."

There's a lift of Sebastian's brows towards Tyche, and a tilt of head, as, moments later, Briar comes in to deliver a message to Sebastian. He's too good at keeping his expression careful; and with a touch of fingers to Alis' arm, murmurs something towards her before he stands, offering the High Lady a hand up, before they're heading for the exit, followed by their guards.

Vayne rises from the luxurious pile of pillows without any further words, merely a warm -- knowing look. "Work of the faithful never ends. It was a pleasure, my lord Splash. Suspire Nina." The Legate's dark eyes catch a flash of steelsilk, a sparkle of rubies. His eyebrows arch up, sharply, and his jaw sqaures off as he moves with a little more intention. "It was a lovely evening."

Vayne has left the a pile of silk and cotton pillows.

Sebastian has left the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Alis has left the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Sir Rhys, a Valardin Knight, Laurene, a military adjutant, 10 Valardin Knights leave, following Alis.

Briar, a quiet young woman, 6 Setarcan Royal Shields, Alis leave, following Sebastian.

Giada has left the a pile of silk and cotton pillows.

1 Knight of the Temple, 1 Templar Knight guards, Luzio, the burly Mirrormask, a tall and silent woman with only one hand leave, following Giada.

Raven has left the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

1 Iron Guardsmen, 3 Black Fleet Reavers, Moonsilver, the pale-feathered raven leave, following Raven.

1 Iron Guardsmen, 3 Black Fleet Reavers, Moonsilver, the pale-feathered raven arrive, following Raven.

Raven has joined the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

Someone wearing an enigmatic Eurusi-inspired veil of steel lustre, shimmering with a prismatic dark rainbow overlay of duskweave plucks a white flower from one of the golden vases on the table as she passes by. It dangles in her hand by the icy steelsilk as she crosses through the revelry towards her host. The flower is held up to the Lord and a deep smoky voice muses from beneath the veil, "I came as soon as I could. Thank you for having me, Lord Amadeo. How you have risen. This," she allows her hand to trail out, "is beautiful." And then her gaze slides out over the crowd and she bows her head.

Orland makes departing gestures for Vayne (who calls him Lord Splash) and Giada, before he rises up with his damp self to go check on his husband - just as that mysterious figure makes her way up to him with that smoky voice. "Hello," he welcomes with a polite greeting, his hair wet and sticking to his face, his entire wardrobe he's wearing wet and still somewhat clingy (or maybe he's clingy), "Marquessa is it?" His attention flicks to Savio, "Do you need another drink?"

Savio admits, "I need every drink."

Raven's brow knits and she gives Patrizio a puzzled look as she speaks lowly. She bows her head.

Cassiopeia looks at Savio, "you should drink all the drinks," encouragement.

Savio protests, "Someone has to bring them to me!" and then beckons at Raven. His attire making him relatively stationary, she will have to come his way to be greeted, but it doesn't seem time sensitive, as she is speaking with Patrizio! The enigmatic Amberskip is blown a kiss from afar when she says he's risen. Mwah. Maybe so but he's still a lunatic.

Patrizio rises from his place, as he's briefly bowing to his companions, a smiled offered to the hosts, before he's collecting his soldiers from their fascination with the remaining lanterns, and they slip out.

Patrizio has left the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

3 First Legion Centurions, 3 Setarcan Royal Shields leave, following Patrizio.

Orland retorts, "You can't hold every drink," down or physically, "I'll find a blue one for you this time. The green one was good too, but I lost it... in the uhm, great lantern ass-acre of 1017." Then he notes to Savio, "I'm going, I'm going!!"

Mailys mentions, "Ah- something with pineapple coconut? That one?" She had done fairly well at Nina's mixology gathering. "I'm terrible with names-" She laughed at 'ass-acre of 1017' and threw her whole train of thought out. It was only her eyes that went to the duskweave-clad masked woman with Eurusi details. She could use a drink, oh wait, she one. Eyes averted and to Orland who is loudly going.

Raven smiles and waves to Savio and Orland, looking at all the decorations and flashing a warm smile to Zakhar.

From where he is seated, Giorgio raises a glass to Marquessa Amberskip and offers a respectful bow of his head, perhaps even in invitation should she wish to happen by their couch. He is engrossed in conversation amongst those at the couch, but he does have the presence of mind to show his respects to another of the Saffron Chain.

Someone wearing an enigmatic Eurusi-inspired veil of steel lustre, shimmering with a prismatic dark rainbow overlay of duskweave nods her pale head to Orland, taking in his dampness from beneath the anonymity of the veil. "I didn't realize there would be swimming, my lord, or I would have brought less clothing." And she catches Giorgio's raised glass in invitation. Solemn, she leans in to Savio, "Try not to find trouble." And then she moves over to to join him.

Someone wearing an enigmatic Eurusi-inspired veil of steel lustre, shimmering with a prismatic dark rainbow overlay of duskweave has joined the a whicker rattan couch decorated with bright white cotton pillows.

Zakhar has failed to keep a close eye on Waddles, who is now slipped off to sit upon Savio's platform.

Orland waves to Raven as he zooms by to fetch a drink, having to chase down one of the moving trays alla servant to fetch a particularly blue drink. He wanders back with it, dipping his head to the Eurusi vieled woman, "Oh Marquessa, it wasn't, but you know how spontaneous parties can get." He produces the cocktail for Savio, grinning at the last, "I think I caused enough for the both of us. Good thing no one challenged me over that, huh?" He looks for Mailys and winks at her.

Mailys winks at Orland knowingly.

There is wistful look in Cassiopeia's eyes, the kind people get when they are feeling nostalgic. The smile that lingers on her lips is genuine and she looks in wonder at everyone gathered there. "I want to thank everyone who submitted their poetic works. It was inspiring to have the chance to read all of them and I encourage everyone to do the same, if you haven't already. Now, we have tallied up the votes, and it brings me great pleasure to announce the winner. As this was an anonymous contest, I will read out the winning poem for all of you, rather than name the winner. If they would like to introduce themselves, please do, otherwise, we will send you your prize afterwards."

With the familiarity of a stage, the kind that identifies a life-long performer, Cassiopeia waits for the room to come to a silence before she beings to read from a piece of stylized parchment. Her voice is clear and smooth like a song, it carries through the gardens,

"In the truest depths of darkness,
where shadows call home,
I can be found there too,
where it's silent as a tomb.
In the coldness that comes from emptiness and despair,
When you close your eyes tightly, you'll find me there.
Life is hard to bear, smothered in the dread of night,
where monsters spring forth to deliver a bite.
Locked in nightmare, you cannot prevent your fall,
But I see you my darling, please listen to my call.
I am never far away, take a breath and chance a look,
refuse the terrors and shake off fear's ungodly hook,
Slide forward a foot, my love do let me your hand
I'll show you the way out and you'll soon understand.
My heart is the lantern, it will give you back your sight,
Put your trust in me and I'll show you the light."

The emotion returns to Cassiopeia's expression and she lets the room fall silent for a moment, the music stops, as the words remain there, for all.

Savio listens to Cassiopeia read the poem and smiles at the end of it, one corner of his mouth hitching up slightly higher than the other. "A number of votes were cast for all the poems, with the 2nd place going to Marquis Ciaphas Seraceni with 4 votes, and the first place with 6 votes going to... the soggiest lord of the Compact, the one adding 'water is wet' and 'pride goes before a fall' to our theme.... Orland." Both brows lift. "Congratulations, although the voting was anonymous and I did not vote!... your poem number 5 was chosen." He gestures toward Orland and announces, "Our winner!"

Orland checks composure at daunting. Orland fails.

Mailys shows her affection for Cassiopeia's performance of the winning poem with a soft round of clapping. She has such an excellent speaking voice. Then, the volume and appreciation rises in her applause to the new Knight Orland, who must have been drawing on an intense muse.

Nina is overheard praising Orland.

Zakhar is overheard praising Savio.

Zakhar has left the a set of white and rattan lounge chairs surrounding a lotus pond.

Clowder of the Nine, they have been fed don't let them trick you, Shekies, A black and white marbled cat with yellow eyes, Capt'n Waddles the small cock with a bell, Ariesse - a spirited wildcat kitten leave, following Zakhar.

Savio warns, dryly, "Don't praise him too much, it'll go to his head and I have to live with him."

Orland drops his drink... for the SECOND time that night! This time it was purely after he spat some of it out (thankfully not in anyone's direction) and wheezed over the start of the poem being read out. "It was a bee..." he totally had a bee in his drink! Something. There's not even bees out yet, but who cares, maybe it was a fly! He coughs a few times, looking from Cassiopeia who states it can be totally anonymous but Savio doesn't let it be so. "She said I didn't have to announce myself---" he complains weakly to Savio, but then his face is absolutely red. Like. Red. While he was in the bard's college he's not known for writing poetry! Or songs. Or any of it. He tumbles - or splashes - all street performer style. He does looks a bit nervous before he bows his head, "Thank... you."

Raven watches and d'awwws, issuing a sharp oscellating whistle of encouragement at Orland and his prose!

Splinter, the golden-eyed osprey arrives, following Desma.

There is obvious fondness for the interactions between Orland and Savio, and she claps for the former, and smiles at the later. The music stops for a few beats. The fires on the water have long since died out. But before, the night is over, Cassiopeia takes a moment to say a few parting words. "Thank you all for joining us in this celebration. It means a great deal to me and my family, to bring our traditions to the Compact, and share them with all of you." The young woman projects her voice, a little louder as she closes out. "The world comes together, as it should, even though there are times of great challenge. We have so much to look forward to, despite the turmoil, despite the chaos, just focus on that inner light, and it will guide you." Then a wave and Cassiopeia wanders off, casually, bare foot, and off to dance in the grass with her emotions.

Zoey has left the a large white and beige hammock with dangling tassels.

Octavian, a silken spaniel have been dismissed.

Ruslana Stormshead, an aide in Kennex livery have been dismissed.

3 Kennex corsairs have been dismissed.

Savio agrees with Cassiopeia, "This is our home, and this holiday is dear to us. You also are dear to us, joining us for the celebration of light, of fortune, of all things that shine in the darkness." Like burning-ass lanterns. "Please, stay with us and relax, know that we are glad to have you, and as winter turns to spring, look forward against all odds for the lights in the dark." He gestures grandly, go forth, get drunk!
