An Assembly of peers, the first one I was able to attend in some time, and I must say, it went by without shouting or challenges thrown. Mostly a needed congregation to show face and be seen.
Unfortunately there was some dissent on the benches, more so it came from close by.

I have been personally attacked!
I went by the kitchen this morning with Adelina to collect her basket of baked goods and my breakfast and was met with a stressed baker who informed me the kitchen was raided over night and I will have to wait another hour! Someone absconded with all the cookies and chocolate cakes and everything cookie and cakey and chocolatey.
They did not seem too startled by the act, only by having to make me wait.
Something is fishy.
And fishes are not for Breakfast.
Investigation will ensue.

Recently, I had the privilege of visiting Reveillon to help Baroness Redire assess would-be squires for her holdings.
It's true, some didn't stand out as much as others, but I think the ones who were chosen will serve her well.
Next time I'm on the road, I'd like to check in on how they're progressing. It would be fair to say that one is going to have to work a little harder than the others, but I do think she's got promise.
I'm gladdened by the thought of others finding their path and being true to what they are inside. But they must be willing to fight for it. And? Be prepared for all that responsibility comes with.

Is loss easier to handle after the passage of time? Some days, sure. Other days, it's a pain as fresh as if you experienced it yesterday. There are moments of bright, poignnant joy, in letting yourself reminisce and consider happy memories. And there are sharp and gutting reminders of what you no longer have.
Everyone deals differently with their grief. But the honorable thing to do never involves trying to diminish the sorrow of others just because you experienced it more recently. Nor does it involve hoping that others experience that same pain. No, the honorable thing to do is to reach out and help, to comisserate, and to support.
We live in times where loss is inevitable. Don't be that person who makes the pain of others worse.
Everyone deals differently with their grief. But the honorable thing to do never involves trying to diminish the sorrow of others just because you experienced it more recently. Nor does it involve hoping that others experience that same pain. No, the honorable thing to do is to reach out and help, to comisserate, and to support.

Therefore their punishment is as follows:
They have to scrub the entirety of Heron Hall top to bottom.
Take baths -every night- for a week.
As a concession they can have later bedtimes so Mihaly can teach them more about the stars and constellations and why they're important, so they understand the gravity of their misdeeds. Since they wanted to 'help' they can help him rebuild some of it in that fashion.

The strangest thing happened to me when I arrived to the Assembly of Peers. It felt as if virtually all eyes were on me, trying to catch a glance at me. At first I wondered if there was something on my face or if my hair was out of place. When I realized they were looking upon me quite favorably, I felt the a rush of color warm my cheeks.

It has recently occurred to me my birthday is on the horizon. It has been literal years since I publicly celebrated the occasion. I will have to employ Mistress Aconite to assist me with the arrangements. I am leaning towards a beach themed party. Does anyone even remember the Seaside Soiree I co-hosted with former Archduchess Esera Velenosa? Seems like several lifetimes ago.
