There has been no shortage of people taking time to point the finger as of late. And that I am writing this is going to make Duke Arn yell at me, but I think sometimes we have to take a long look at ourselves and understand how we've played a part in what has gone wrong. The mistakes I have made and will continue to make could fill the archive one day. So here are a list of some of the ones I've taken ownership up for all to sea.

*I saw the tension growing between Princess Dawn and other leaders of the Compact, and I did not do enough to help. I did not do enough to help others see then Lady Regent Dawn as the leader I knew her to be. I did not do enough to advise her in a direction where she could have put some tensions to rest. In this way I failed the compact.

*I stand by my vote against paying the Teind even to this day, but one of my reasons is one that I am not proud of. I was willing to stand by my ideals and die for them even if it meant oblivion. I thought that better than compromise. But that is selfish and sometimes to be a leader you must be willing to compromise your ideals to protect the innocent that just want to lives their lives in peace and did nothing to invite the darkness that was Tolamar Brand. This was a failure.

*I let the first negotiations with the Nox'alfar get out of hand and break down. Whatever I feel about their ultimate intentions, I did not do enough to try and keep them from falling apart because I had already made up my mind about what the Nox'alfar truly wanted. This was a failure.

*I have let my distrust of the Nox'alfar cause tension between myself and some of House Grayson. House Grayson and House Valardin have been staunch allies for 1000 years. If we have ever warred with one another it has been lost to history to me at least. I have always felt that Grayson's more akin to cousins than an entirely seperate family. I do not trust the Elves and I don't expect I ever will, but house Grayson's fate is tied to theirs and has been since the time of Queen Alarice the Great. I understand how important this treaty is and why we need it now, but I worry that someday we will find the there is a great cost to yoking ourselves to creatures with as little regard for live as the Nox'alfar. But this is all the more reason I should stand more fast with my allies, to be there ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with them if that day should come. I was wrong and I will mend this fence.

*I have often been dismissive of gifts of Alaricite weapons frequently referring to such blades as 'made of pansy elf metal.' I should not be so dismissive of any asset.

*Perhaps my greatest failure is that prior to the Tragedy of Sanctum I never prepared a day in my life to lead. I was certain that burden would not fall to me, and when I did I was not ready.

What I have done, and what I will never be ashamed of myself for is what I have given the Compact and the Oathlands. My shield, my spear, my sword, and my life are all for them. I will hold them in their defense until there is no breath left in me.

I am sure there are people that can think of other's mistakes I have made that I should own up to. Feel free to add to these. I cannot promise I will never make mistakes, but I will always learn from them.

Outside of human reach, any grown animal that can't hunt or feed itself dies, either by starvation or, more often, at the teeth of other animals. That's simply how the world works.

That said, if the Faith actually has the resources and the mind to take care of all of Arx's old and sick animals I'm not going to be the one to complain about it. What an interesting, if bizarre idea.

The past few days have been better. I have been able to talk to more people about my plans, and hopefully they can assist me. I need to send a message to Lady Khanne, and I have realized I have forgoing my sparring sessions too. There seems to be not enough time in the day to get everything done. I still believe I can finished this plan in a matter of months, instead of a years. I will know how accurate my plan is by the end of next month.

Mouse, or Little Mouse, sure...
But no one called me Snow Mouse before...

To the faithful reader:

Recent events have prompted me to consider an often underregarded population: that of the animals who live, work, and feed the faithful. We often take the service of the beasts of field and forest for granted, but just because dominion was granted to us by the mercy of Petrichor, does not mean that any should thoughtlessly use or abuse the animals that we work with and live alongside. I understand, as well, that many of our people rely on the work of animals for their livelihoods, and could not continue to pay the upkeep of animals who no longer work at the level required. This is, however, no reason to perpetrate cruelty upon injured or crippled animals, nor to simply send elderly animals to the slaughterhouses wholesale.

Gild directs us towards charity and generosity, and to never forget from where our own success and wealth spring. Limerance reminds us to be faithful to our bonds, and to look out for those who serve us, even as we offer our service to our lieges, our King, and our gods. And the Sentinel reminds us to be just in all our actions, whether the target of that action is human or not.

From this, I think it is plain that wanton cruelty or abandonment of animals is a sin, and one that the Faith has an interest in addressing. However, it is also true that we do not wish to overburden those of the faithful who depend on animal labor. Thus, I will be looking into options, I think, to develop sanctuaries for animals who can no longer work, so that they can live out their lives with the peace they have earned, and I will be directing the disciples of the Sentinel to understand that cruelty to animals, working or kept for leisure, is unjust, that they may also bring this wisdom to the people, and help them develop better ways to interact with our fellow creatures under Petrichor. Further, I will be reaching out to Petrichor's discipleship to see how we can continue to work to address this issue.

Please stop saying the Queen of Death. You wouldn't call me the Archlector of Aureth, would you? No. You'd call me Aureth, or you'd call me an Archlector, but you wouldn't call me the Archlector of Aureth, because that's clearly wrong. Don't call her the Queen of Death.

She is the Queen of Endings and the Mother of Beginnings.

Her NAME is Death.

I had no idea white journals were now a means to peddle wares and make advertisements. It seems a rather small, select audience...those who scribe and the few that may care to even read your journal in the first place.

But I am just am old fool.

Parasols and Bats

In celebration of our new treaty and in honor of the Lady Nekarris, the Tangled Skein is featuring silk parasols for sun protection. They are available in the silken strand room. Two versions are presently available, but more are planned.

Also, in honor of the Queen of Death and in recognition of her growing following, the Tangled Skein is also featuring a line of new clothing with themes like skulls, spiders, bats and so forth and in darker colors. This line is a work in process and items are being displayed one by one as they are finished. So check back often if interested in the line.

It's been a long journey, this project - The Revitalization of the Menagerie. The place has been given a face lift and a new lease on life. One more step toward completion has been made. Only one area remains under construction. That means, that most of the animals have been transitioned to their new homes. They're all settling in. It's a wonderful feeling to watch them enjoy the touch of grass or the stretch run of their new enclosures.

A few more plaques have been finished up, as promised as part of the Golden Eagle sponsorship.

There are plenty of exhibits that could use a specific touch, however, we do have the winter to get through - maybe more people will be willing to do something creative with their time! (Looking at you, Diamond Hawk sponsors!)

I'm happy to say, I'm only a week away from the soft opening. This is exciting. My first big project is nearing a state of completion. And there are so many people to thank. So many. I'll have all that ready for the Grand Re-Opening. Promise.

Good night Arx!

The Whispers are coming for me!

Not literally coming after me. Well, maybe literally, but it's not at all how it sounds. Let me explain. Some odd months ago I befriended a fellow named Ferrando. I don't remember how we met. Chances are he stopped by the shop and we talked about armor and stuff because he's a big brute of a man and they usually tend to like armor. I know, I'm totally stereotyping now. So anyhow, turns out Ferrando is a bouncer for the Whisper House, keeping patrons in line if they're disrespectful or they cross the line in some way. It's pretty much the perfect job for him.

Friendship turned into a date and a date turned into more dates; so we're dating! Then one night he tells me he wants to bring me around to the Whisper House to meet the people he works for. I immediately thought this was such a sweet thought. Then he tells me they're curious about the woman who has woo'd Rando. Now suddenly there's like all this pressure to be like this super version of me.

I met Radiant Selene and she is every bit as elegant and lovely as one might assume the Whisper Radiant to be and I've also met Mistress Larissa who just today invited me to a girl's night.

A Girl's Night!? Me at a girl's night? Man oh man. This will be epic.
