Relationship Note on Denon

Not having met a Whisper before, I was unsure what to expect, this man seems entirely genuine in his faith and entirely personable however. Perhaps he is simply showing me what I wish to see? If so then he does an excellent job of it.

Having to tend to nobles savagely cut apart upon the tournament field does not treat clothing well, new attire has cost a sum I could scarcely have imagined before I was accepted into the church, yet this is considered moderate dress for one of my station? I often wonder how much better Arvum would fair if we were all equal, with no nobility using the labour of thousands for their own luxury.

This tournament is normally something that I would praise, but Lady Vivianna seems to feature heavily every time I become involved, wearing shadowmeld that wards off even the staunchest blows of her opponent then mercilessly slicing them in response. Is wearing the stuff of demons and gaining relative invulnerability truly a measure of courage or skill? Though her skill is also undeniable.

Things have gotten quieter suddenly. It's almost strange to me, but I can hardly ignore the break. Everything was ramping up higher and higher, and I was expecting a fall. Instead, it's been just a smooth glide, since. I wonder how long it'll last. Probably not too terribly, if I'm honest.

Relationship Note on Esera

This is a time where we must all find a way to get along. But old rivalies and tensions do not go away so easily. Sometimes they get more potent. That would pretty sum up how I feel about Grand Duchess Esera Velenosa. Dammit I try to play well, but reflected in here, I see everything about the Lyceum that is just so... so wrong! I feel pretty confident she feels the same way about me.

Relationship Note on Edain

Sometimes even honorable men are assholes. Sometimes, it is honor that makes them so. Prince Edain is more than boring, as the Valardin so often are -- he is /offputting/. He makes my skin crawl! Our Houses have never loved one another. I see no reason that should ever change.

Relationship Note on Niccolo

My father gave up everything to marry my mother. All that he might have had and all that he might have done, as the Duke of Setarco -- everything. Behind closed doors, he might have still had her in secret. It is a story told all the time in the Lyceum ... but it is not the story he chose. He chose to fight. He fought for her, fought for a future with her. Now that future has been taken from him, has been snuffed out, stolen away by shadow. I owe my Father my life, my blood and breath. I will give him something else to fight for.

Relationship Note on Rohkir

Cousin Rohkir is a new arrival to Arx, but seems to be settling in quite well and comfortably. It's not uncommon to see him out and about at various taverns or social functions. I just hope he remembers to relax from time to time. Gods know I find social niceties exhausting.

The days are getting better. My little shop is prospering once more.
I wonder, should I change the sign 'Harry's jewelry and Gifts shop' to
'Enzo's jewelry and Gifts shop' or shall I leave it as it is in the
memory of Harry? Master Harry was a wonderful tutor and I wouldn't have
such a wonderful life if not he...

Anyway, Admiral Alric approached me with quite an amazing idea. There was
this tournament held by lady Viviana Pravus. I should make small figurines
to represent the champions. The matterials used to craft those piece of art
will be cheap not out of disrespect but that even the low commoners could
buy those figures to their children. Everyone wants to have a hero to follow.
I am sure that many were inspired by the victories of champions and skillful

I shall thank in the name of our Crafters Guild to the champions for being a
good example to the little ones of Arvum. Their talents inspire us, artists,
for great works of art and allow for the name of Jayus to echo widely in the
Arvum and beyond.

Eight years.

What do you say after so long? I know what they wish I'd say, I see the questions in their eyes, the words they hesitate to form. And so they ask how I feel instead; if I've gotten enough rest, if I'm settling in well. Easy questions, with answers that mean little in the absence of more meaningful explanations. But after eight years, it's the little questions that have answers that can fit into this gaping void of silent nothingness between me and my family. A bridge of little questions and easy answers to close that gap.

I have my own little questions as well, and the answers won't be easy for me to hear:
Where is my mother laid to rest?
Who attended my funeral?
Was my father valiant, during the Tragedy at Sanctum?
And so many more questions, eight years worth of questions, I feel strangled by all the words I don't have, and deafened by the answers I fear I won't want to hear.

Relationship Note on Alrec

Hammar meet Alrec on the beach not far from Hammar's house. He gave Hammar food. Alrec then messenger Hammar and ask him if he wants to test out Hammar's new armor, that Hammar got when he first met Alrec. Hammar and Alrec spar on beach and Hammar beat Alrec hard. Alrec put the first scratches and dents in Hammar's armor.

Relationship Note on Rohkir

Ah, Rohkir. He's kind of a short-tempered idiot. I do believe he sees himself as some sort of ladies man, and for the most part it seems he may be right, but I do not really get along with him all that well, and don't plan to really be much of a friend to the man, but we are family nonetheless.

Relationship Note on Ida

Met her a while back, when I had not been in the city for terribly long, she had said something about being a pugilist and a weaponsmith. I had decided at that time other than her being fairly decent looking that I'd have no need for her business, at least not for a while. Ended up that I did have a need for her business, had her make me some armor and a steel sword for tournaments and training lessons. I believe her to be a pretty decent woman, and there's likely a new friendship brewing here.

Went and had some drinks with Ida in her new shop not too long back. She has a nice shop, and despite the fact the woman is in a more manly profession, I think she's a great woman to have around. One of the few women in this damnable city that is not soft, and despite being constantly busy, she seems to be good company when I get her to stay still long enough.

I won the archery competition at the Golden Decathlon Tournament. They cheered me, and the nobles praised me, and the Princess Alarissa Grayson, may the Gods protect her, gave me a trophy out of pure gold to show for it. I'll treasure it always.

Relationship Note on Talen

As good as a noble by how he dresses and the company he keeps. He spoke to me at the archery competition, there at the finals. Gave me some advise. I've never been one for the big crowds, myself. Asked about me, too. Perhaps he'll be coming to get some business at my store. If not, well, I have no desire to be embroiled with them nobles. I'm just an honest member of the Crafters Guild, I am.

So I'm the Grand Champion of the Decathlon.

Got a pretty fucking trophy to show for it. Four, actually. Three outta gold and the grand one outta iridescite. Not much of a fucking judge of art, but I'm guessing this was more about the value of the material than the skill of the craftmanship. Not sure what I'm gonna do with them. Put them on a shelf somewhere, I guess. I suppose it'd be fucking rude to melt 'em down for the coin. If my House didn't put coin into my account every fucking week, I probably would've. A man gotta eat (and pay for courtesans).

It took being beat up by fucking Alrec in the wrestling. Got him wobbly as fuck, which is more than Talen did in the finals. Heh. But still, I fell. Don't even recall waking up staring at the ceiling, but there I was.

Took out Fergus before I lost to Viviana in the Semi-Finals of the Single Combat event. Don't even want to think about that shit.

Beat Silas by default on the Joust, or I'd never gotten far enough to be out done by Talen in the semi-finals. At least I didn't get knocked off my horse. At least I hit him rather than make a complete fool out of myself. Though, to be fair, jousting makes a fool out of everybody whose stupid enough to think it some great fucking art.

Then the first day of the main events, I was outswum by both Gustave and Viviana. Can you believe that shit? Me? I grew up swimming. At least I took both the sailing events. That fucker Talen should've never been allowed to take control of a vessel, by the way. Utterly fucking disgusting.

Second day, I won the discus, lost the two running events. Guess I ain't much of a runner.

And third, heh. I was going to do the archery, but to complete my ten out of ten events. But fuck it. The ale I was drinking at the time was good, and I didn't see the point all of a sudden. So I slept in instead. It didn't matter, though. Those 3 single event victories won me the day in absentia. So was it worth the effort, and the losses, and the fucking blood shed? Not at all.

But it was a challenge. Something new. Seemed small somehow to pass it over just because I might lose. And I did lose, quite a bit. But when its just a fucking game, who cares? My pride ain't worth that much.

Seriously, though, how much does some melted down iridescite go for these days?

Relationship Note on Gustave

Frankly, I aught to have been the better swimmer. I've been swimming since before I knew how to fucking walk. Then comes this giant and outshines me. What the fuck does some hill boy know about swimming, anyway? He's a better runner than me, too. Not that I was ever that great of a runner, but still. I figured I had a chance at least, but I didn't.

At least I'm better at throwing things. Guess the only time that matters if you're stuck in a siege and they're coming up the walls. And if you're in that position you're already fucked most of the time.

Then again, once you really have to start running or swimming you're usually fucked, too.
