Relationship Note on Nadia
I have but one memory of Nadia that really sticks out in my mind. I had brought a large serving bowl of curry to an event this past summer. I had wanted Arvians to have a taste of Eurusi food. What I discovered is that it wasn't to some of their palettes. Which resulted in a curry fight between Prince Darren and Duchess Nadia. To the point where curry had gotten flung into her eye.
It was a good memory.
May merciful and wise Ahj'on guide you to your rest.

I can only weep for those who we have lost, who I have called my friend, and hope that even though I do not stand on the battlefield, what I am capable of doing continues to honor them.

And now he's gone and so is his brother. The Lyceum bleeds again when our previous wounds have barely healed.

I guess that's what people do sometimes. It's a heavy feeling once you get to the realization that someone so suited for you...wasn't. Not that there's anything wrong with Joscelin. Just didn't work, I guess. I wish her all the best in her endeavors.
So that's that. Felix Meadson remains Felix Meadson. Nothing left to do but look towards the future, I suppose.

Relationship Note on Nadia
I suppose I still believe that. But whether they're supposed to be there or not, I won't deny that some of them are capable, more capable than a lot of men I know. Nadia Nightgold was one of them. We'd play our war games into the night, and she'd beat me more often than not. She taught me a thing or two, which is fucking rare.
I could say she shouldn't have been there, and that being there got her killed, and I'd be fucking right.
But she also fought with heart, and determination, and courage. And it would be a petty man who couldn't respect and honor that on its own merits. She died a worthy warrior's death, and she'll stand a worthy warrior in my memory.
I'll be drinking to Nadia Nightgold tonight. I lost a friend, and I'm not a man who makes them easy.

While we may vary across our decorum, milord, I must say that I greatly appreciated the invitation to your home, and look forward to many more such parties in the future.
That said, I hope next time there will be no need for you to stand on the table, or for me to leave so abruptly.

We lost so many but it was to be expected. My lads and lasses - I could not be more proud of them and the vicious often mean spirited training I put them through. Embedding them in other units was the right decision. Going myself to the fronts to lead and assist was the right decision.
Our losses were vastly reduced thanks to their tireless efforts to evac and defend their patients. Thousands of men and women will make it home to their families thanks to the medics me and mine have trained and prepared for such an occasion. Had we not spread the Phoenixes out, had I not set my units to protect and defend we would have lost many many more. I doubt any will truly know what a bloodbath we averted but I am proud. Gloria and Lagoma will see what we have done and I hope the bitches are proud too.
And as I expected, the fucking Gods forsaken shavs broke into through triage lines. THAT is why my medics fight. THAT is why I was there myself. Why I train both body and mind to heal and harm. I hadn't taken a field command of soldiers in ages, not since the skirmish on the Yellow Field. But when I saw the lines break I rallied everyone who could stand and those who couldn't grabbed a bow. My lads and lassies set down their instruments of care and went for their blades. We pushed those fuckers back until the cavalry could round about and reestablish the lines. I held that pig-fucking wave off and kept our wounded from being massacred in their sick beds. We made sure the Mercies could do their duties by doing ours.
Neither by Chance nor by Fate. We take matters into our own hands and deal with things the best way we know how. And by doing so, countless lives have been saved.
I do not consider this a victory but I do not consider it a loss. We have much work to do because there's thousands more left out there.

When I was a boy, I saw the kraken. I was not a fanciful child and I was old enough to know what I saw. There is no other creature to compare to it so there could be no mistake. The creature rose from the water and attacked a Thrax ship. Its tentacles, of which there were many, wrapped around the sailors and dragged them into its mouth which was easily twice the size of the largest man on board. Their weapons were useless against it and it made short work of them. Soon enough, every man on board was gone, devoured by the creature. And then it left, leaving the ship to drift, without a crew, at the mercy of the wind and currents.
The kraken is real. If your ship is attacked by it, I wish you luck and give you this advice: don't waste your time on the tentacles. If it has risen above the water, cast your spears and aim your arrows at its eyes. If you have flaming pitch, use it. Act quickly and without hesitation before it is too late. You won't kill the beast but maybe you can drive it off before the last of you is dead. May Mangata bless you.
