I have the opportunity to meet all manner of interesting people in Arx, as I navigate the planning stages for our Genevieve's wake. Such is the case with the artisan, Master Denon Whisper, who is crafting an exquisite piece of sculpture for the banqueting table. We spent an evening going over plans in great detail-- who knew so much forethought went into *art?* I've also never had a man insist on my palpating his bicep before. I wonder if the gentleman is quite sure he isn't THAT kind of Whisper. Anyway, he mentioned that I might pay a visit to the studio to view the work in progress. Would that be scandalous, I wonder? To go where Whispers whisper about things? Either way, I am satisfied that my wishes are understood.

Relationship Note on Morrighan

Redrain something or another. She also owns a shop in the city where she makes clothing. She is a bit of an annoyance, not that Fergus has anything against a free spirit, but she takes it to a level of annoying that Fergus cannot spend much time around her.

Such tales are told of southern decadence and I will admit here for posterity that I've always been interested to discover how much is rumor, how much truth. To my delight, I had the honor and the pleasure of that discovery courtesy of her highness, the Mirrormask Princess Isolde and the Sword of Lenosia, Talen Artiglio. I was fortunate enough to be invited to an intimate private party by these worthies, and there I learned that tales do not do Lycean hospitality justice. Sensual spectacle of the sort that was on display would probably shock those of more delicate sensibilities but I would counter those ruffled feathers with a simple truth:

We cannot take our own measure in every aspect, every facet, without facing all that life might offer. The highs, the lows, the comforts and the temptations... they exist not just to temper us but to teach us of ourselves.

It is not an opportunity to be missed if one is so fortunate as to earn an invitation.

Relationship Note on Alrec

An unexpected and unplanned evening spent at the Hundred Cities Inn made me the acquaintance of this dashing, dangerous Admiral. I could not help but be flattered by the words and attention he bestowed upon me, nor intrigued by his ideals that have undoubtedly been tainted by the time he's spent upon Thraxian waters. I also cannot help but to be wary of him, as I must be with so many I meet these days. To be sure I shall be keeping an eye upon him...

I have devised my own card game to present at Game Night.

This will either go swimmingly or incredibly awry, but I'm still dreadfully curious.

Evenings with House Velenosa can often be quite an amusing and enlightening affair. I dare say I've learned far more than expected since arriving at Arx, some things a touch more surprising than others. Talen must think I am quite the bore, but really .. it just made me yearn for someone who shares the same passions I do. At least I do believe I made a new found friend in one of the Whispers. She seems a bit more my speed than her cousin. I'll take her as my pet project and make the other Whispers drool with envy at the things I'll create for her.

Of note, I've learned that I must question every single commission Talen asks of me from now on. It's not like he'd dream of finding another seamstress to save himself from my harassments. Most importantly, however, is that I've learned the Princess cannot be trusted to dress herself. Ah, the things I must do for my family.

The Prince Inquisitor has assigned me an important task I will enjoy quite thoroughly. After presenting his dilemma we discussed his options, and it looks like I will be making a short trip to Ashford once the arrangements have gone through. I may grab a few things for my upcoming party at Trader's - why not, if I'm in the neighborhood?

I should reconnect with my brother in Morimont, too, and see if he wants to contribute as well.

I think I will craft a jewelry box, a wooden chest, and a bookcase for the prizes at game night; though I'm not sure what my funds will be like nearer the end of the week, so I may wait until then and just cram all the work into one night. Hopefully my craftsmanship won't suffer.

Relationship Note on Margot

Today held an unexpected delight for me as I made the acquaintence of Lady Margot Tyde. In her kindness and gracious heart I was so reminded of her cousin, my dear Queen Genevieve. Our path is early yet, but perhaps together we shall heal the wounds of heartache at her loss.

Relationship Note on Malorie

When I found Princess Malorie in the wilderness Southeast of Sanctum I had no idea she was a princess, or the trials she had been through. She'd acquired a fever and was not particularly sensible at the time. I treated her best I could and escorted her back to the city. It was only later that I discovered she was a Princess, lost for many years and held captive by the Shavs. That she escaped at all is a remarkable accomplishment. I had the good fortune to lunch with her recently now she is recovered. She seems to have recovered mentall and physically exceptionally well, to the point of seemingly running her House's stables. One must wonder however, after so long in deprivation and misery, is she truly better? Or are her symptoms merely not presenting.

Relationship Note on Aurelian

Prince Aurelian Valardin is a fine scholar. His passion for books is the strongest I have ever seen. Sometimes I wonder if he read more than half of books in our Archives?.. The one who read so many books, and the one who travelled as much as Prince Aurelian, definitely has many fun stories to tell. One could listen for such an intelligent man for days.

Relationship Note on Talen

Sword of Lenosia, Master Talen Artiglio, once said that he would love to get to know other cultures. I admire his wish. It shows how understanding and tolerant the man can be dispite of cultural differences. His behaviour in public suggests that Sword of Lenosia is worth being noble more than some of the nobles who were born to be nobles.

Relationship Note on Acacia

The Culler woman seems to have one one volume and one speed: loud and vivacious. She seemed to think I was due more attention than I sought at the Beachfront Soiree, and I hope to correct any assumption that I have felt slighted. Though I do not necessarily wish for more attention, I find her ability to manage, to laugh, and to charge into anything supremely admirable. I am uncertain if she truly knows what she asks when she asks for thunder from the mountains for this alcohol tasting, but I will try to find something that does not send grown men on vision quests...or is sufficiently tasty they will forgive such forays into the realm of spirits and lost time.

Relationship Note on Larissa

Sweet girl, has taught me that perhaps I do not know enough about Whispers as I should. Certainly in a world where my daughters education will be vital, there would be worse things than having one tutor her. She seems to think me particularly wise or witty, I am not sure how to feel about this, but I appreciate her thoughts. I do worry though that Lycean fashions are ill suited to late evening chills.

Relationship Note on Lydia

Lady Lydia Nightgold has been in service to our family for, well, it feels like a while now. I'm not one for fashion or hair or any of those things, as I actively try to avoid spending time on them, but she's been there to help avoid a catastrophe and make sure I don't waltz around in anything ripped. She seems to be enjoying the city a great deal, and I'm glad. I hope to have her help keeping our house active and engaged in society, because I sure as hell can't stand organizing things myself.

The feasts of House Redrain are not like my own. They are earthy and glorious -- straightforward, never fancy. My Father was there, and my cousin, Luca. My Sword was there, too. He claimed me for a dance, and he swung me around the room, faster and faster, till the walls spun around me. Before my feet could fall out from beneath me, he picked me up and carried me away, and that was the last I saw of my dear friend Deva's feast.

The sad fact of the matter is that House Grayson and House Velenosa have historically not enjoyed the best of relations. I must admit that I do not exactly know why this is the case.. Diplomatically and socially.. House Grayson has about as much in common with the Velenosans as we do with the Valadrins.. with one foot in each yard so to speak.. If it were not for the House Thrax's navy, I am certain House Velenosa would easily be one of the most reliable allies House Grayson could call upon in the compact. Though I worry that cuddling up too closley might upset the righteous sensibilties of House Valadrin..

And don't even get me started on House Redrain.. I truly cannot understand them, and not from a lack of trying... Were I stronger and wiser.. Perhaps I may be enlightened yet.

I had Ida make up a pair of steel dancing shoes after Princess Isolde asked for me to dance with her when we meet the next time we do. I warned her I would likely step on her toes, so I figured it would be a neat little idea for a gift to her. Whether she actually liked them, or was just being kind, I do not know, but I liked the idea regardless, and Ida seemed to enjoy making them.

Relationship Note on Jaenelle

The more I talk with this woman, she has an inner strength that certainly surprises me. After Rohkir and her relationship exploded, she more or less went into hiding for a while, since she has wanted to meet up with me for the simple talks that apparently I can offer. Simple, or flirting, I do not know what it is that she likes, but I offer her both with each meeting. I consider her a good friend and look forward to more meetings with Jaenelle.

It seems as if everyone I meet in this city has a house Whiskey or wine or some other sort of brew. Nadia, it appears has one as well, it really should not be a surprise. So she asked me to come and have a try of her whiskeys, one was quite strong, the other was a bit softer to drink. It just so happened we drank both bottles and since, I have been suffering for the past three days. Because of this suffering, I believe I will need to buy a crate of both types of the whiskey.

Jaenelle, the devious woman. She likes to make up meetings with me, I am certain, just so she can try and press my ability to hold back a smile. Surely she does not actually enjoy my time, just wants to test my willpower.
