I need to find a balance. I have never been one not to throw myself into my work, and in the past have holed myself away for days, sometimes weeks, when I have focused on projects. I vowed that I have learned from my mistakes and decided to remember it is not a bad thing to take breaks.

That being said, I am currently working on eleven new outfits for the shop, all of them in various stages of finish, as well as next month's mystery boxes. But I did take a walk the other day and heard two very beautiful stories. Baby steps.

I will never get use to the idea that hair pins can be used as a weapon. At least Raya knows all about that. She has good teachers that are showing her that aspect. All the kids do actually. Ilan and Sil.

Guess they can be my little protectors when needed. I am glad they are learning. Here can be a strange place sometimes and better to be over protective than not at all.

What about bringing nothing something? That doesn't get nearly enough praise.

To any who have worked the land, who have raised crops from fallow to field, the beauty of this act is self-evident.

Bringing forth something from nothing, praying for rain, praying for the soil to yield a good harvest, praying that pests will find other fields, praying a late or early frost doesn't ruin your yield, praying that those once rare fiery moons are a sign of abundance.

There are always years where yields are low. Where crops fall to insects or blight, but the most painful loss stems from those who destroy with indiscriminate carelessness.

To those who take pride in reaving, in destroying, to ruining that which people grew, cultivated, built, and cherished, and can say so with a smile on their face, I'll happily offer to give you fewer teeth to smile with.

Your pride is hollow, your words are empty, and your spirit barren as the fields and villages you leave in your wake.

Boast as you will, but boast far from me.

I awoke this morning to Cale having passed in his sleep, I don't think I could have asked him to hang on any longer as it would have been selfish. I plan on traveling to Highhill and burying him. I know it sounds silly, but I think that it might be good to have him close to his former owner. I hope that it will also bring me a small measure of comfort to know that they are together in some form.

Escuma impromptu battlesong:

Standing right in the middle of it all
Is a group that's both deadly and small
Bravery shows in their words and stance
"Come on thugs, draw blades, lets dance
"Do you know with whom you dare deal?
"Don't wait around, draw your steel.
"You'll find Lord Ian, a hero of 1008
"Stands ready for you to meet your fate
"He and his band of talented friends
"Will see that killers meet their ends.

I was walking home from a gathering late the other night and stopped at a shrine. An old man sat down next to me and started talking. He told me a story about a black dog he once had that would only bark at night. It drove his neighbors crazy because they couldn't see the dog in the dark, and they didn't know which neighborhood dog it was. After a few nights of it, they started throwing shoes in the direction of the barking. Pretty soon everywhere around was piled up with shoes. The yards, the gangways to the alley, the gutters out by the street, everywhere. The man didn't want to be seen picking up all the shoes himself because the neighbors would know to blame him for the barking dog. So he paid a neighborhood kid to clean it up, a silver coin a shoe. The kid picked up 61 shoes, and the man paid him 61 silver coins. Then of course the man's house was full of shoes. He decided to hold a sale. All day the neighbors came by. He was able to sell every one of those shoes, even the ones without mates, and he made a couple hundred silver from it.

The old man fell silent then, so I asked him what was supposed to be the moral of that ridiculous story. He said if you couldn't tell, you shouldn't throw shoes.

Sometimes it feels like being a book on philosophy. Now a philosophy built around coffee, just think of the possibilities! Perhaps I'll write that in all my free time.

I have come back to the city, so much has changed. I remember so many things and so many friends who have left and returned to the wheel. I find myself a bit lost in what to do and how to move forward. I, I am thankful for my family and how they have supported me so far. I can only hope for some guidance from Mangata in all this. She had guided me in the past I hope she will once again.

When sadness creeps into your heart,
It feels as though you're falling apart.
The world seems gray, the sky turns black,
And everything you once loved, you now lack.

The tears they come and flow like a stream,
A heavy weight that you can't redeem.
Your heart aches with a profound pain,
As though it will never beat again.

You try to smile, to put on a face,
But the sadness lingers, it won't erase.
The laughter that once filled the air,
Is now replaced with a silent despair.

Oh, how it hurts to be so sad,
To feel like the world is just too bad.
But remember that this too shall pass,
And brighter days will come at last.

So hold on tight, and don't let go,
For even in the darkness, there's a glimmer of hope.
And know that you're not alone in this,
For many others feel the same sadness.

I crave to leave the city, to be outside its still walls. I crave to be out in the woods or on the water, whatever may come first. But any place but to be here, I feel trapped.

It's not often you see a silk in the Training Centre wearing just a towel, Scholar. No, no, you didn't mishear me. A silk. In the training centre. Wearing a towel. Eh? Of course I'm not going to tell you who it was. I may be a fish short of a supper, but I'm not that stupid.

Relationship Note on Tesha

I'm pretty sure this was probably a rhetorical question, but . . .

My soul has felt tired. It was during the assault against Bastion and everything that happened until months after we reclaimed our city. I swear, at times, it still feels tired, but I will not let that stop me from the things that need doing. There's just much too much that needs to be done.

I hope that you find something to keep yours going as well.

Several weeks ago I hosted an art event, where many of the cities artists came to work on their own things as I worked on the memorial statue for those Grayson family members who fell in Bastion. It was cathartic to get to work alongside each of these people, and listen to Lord Talwyn Saik play as we all worked. Former Guildmaster Joscelin Arterius even came for a spell, to watch us work and do our thing.

That day I think I managed to finally get some of the likeness of Prince Niklas and Prince Augustus to finally take shape. Getting people's faces right in stone is hard. If I didn't know any better, I would think that Niklas was probably even smiling at me from that stone face of his. The whole thing, the statue, the people, the music, it was all just perfect.

I have spent the hours since waking up to the discovery of dead Elfblight orchids trying to learn of the cause, and perhaps, beginning to devise a solution. As someone who spends a lot of time in gardens, and not just for the pretty surrounds, I am hopeful that I can help in this. There is so much still to learn and test in this endeavor.

The wardrobe is finally fixed and out of the shop. now on display at the crafter's guild hall. The design spans across many years of learning the city, and talking to many within the city of what they wish to see in a design which would showcase a part of their home within the city.

The real trick was getting each of the puzzles to work together, as they were carved individually, then set within practice runs. There were many versions of the wardrobe and now three people who helped test the final run of the puzzles have ownership of the similar design to that which is on display.
While there might be rumors of the last design, and it was indeed a fire from the design which worked its way through the shops. All the cats and Waddles are perfectly safe, and buildings can be rebuilt.

The kitchen survived the incident and we've been putting out several plates and soups for those that are hungry after their journeys throughout the city and finding their way back to the Lowers.

The key factor within the wardrobe which all should heed. It was not Raja Culler's fault.
