Relationship Note on Bianca

I've not seen you in a while, but I'm hoping that you're doing well. I've been keeping up with Scholar study!

Bought more drinks for the wine rack. I should invest in another perhaps.

There have been so many opinions written of late on the topic of marriage. Personally, it has historically been a rather touchy subject to me. I came to Arx to marry a man I'd never even seen or written to before. I saw him the first time as he stepped up to the altar of Limerance and signed the contract that had been negotiated for us. We spoke our vows without ever having had a conversation. It was... there were a lot of emotions for me at the time. I was, frankly, angry. Terrified. Terrified and angry sum it up nicely. But I did it, and it was not that there was a sword held to my neck. I did it because that is, sometimes, what is necessary. It is what be being born to a noble family requires.

Marriage is a tool, one of many, that are at hand to the nobility. My family needed something the Keatons could provide. The Keatons needed something I could give them. There are hundreds of families that depend on Wyrmguard and hundreds more that depend on the Keatons. Because their lives rely on our success, we are expected -- required -- to give up certain privileges that are afforded to people as a whole. Like marrying for love or letting personal feelings get in the way of diplomacy. In some ways, being born to the nobility strips us of our personal freedoms. It is a sacrifice on a daily basis. Your heart will always want what it wants, but how often do the goals and needs of your people align with your own personal happiness?

Now. All that being said, we are children of our gods and they... they are good. I was terrified as stated before. I had this large, silent man, a stranger who could be, potentially, anything or anyone, standing before me, signing his name to a document that made us family. Blessedly, Limerance was watching over the both of us. My husband is... the most honorable, wonderful man I have had the pleasure to know. He and I have been lucky enough to find ourselves fitting together into a steady, stable foundation upon which our house can grow.

Blessing to all the gods.

In before the trend ends: pine, leather, clean scents, and most recently, cloudberries.

No, not bear sweat, don't be ridiculous.

I'm so far behind on the buzz words of the city and topics.

To catch up:

Fuck marriage.

Flowers and fresh snow smell nice.

I got the most beautiful and cute present yesterday, too.
Well, it's not exactly for me, but it's really really amazing.

Curious that so many people is taking about scents. I sold the bigger amount of perfumes I ever did...

My perfumes, even when using inexpensive materials, are always of high quality. I find the term "cheap" perfume distasteful. They're affordable scents; soaps, hair tonics, lotions, after shaves, and more. When someone finds a scent that they adore and they can afford the more expensive materials of the scents they tend to buy them.

I worry not about what sells on my shop: people like quality, and you can have it even with the grade of perfumes made with more affordable materials.

Yeah, fine. Okay.

Whiskey.
Whiskey.
Sword Oil.
Whiskey.
Whatever shit Marian puts in her hair.
Whiskey.
Fresh dirt.

A new rubicund set for a client has me busy busy but anyone who knows me well, knows this is what I love to do. And since it's all the rage to talk about scents people like, I'm rather partial to the scent of the forge and then better yet, campfire. Any kind of fire burning in the hearth or in a fire pit. Something about the scent of embers that really just reminds me of 'home'.

So back to this set of rubicund; I'm really excited about it. It's kind of a challenge for me because of the structure and well the sheer size that I have to craft. It's going to look amazing when it's done and I don't want to give anything away but it will be monumental.

Why not?

Scents that please my senses or bring me back to memories that make me smile wistfully:

Cedar
Earthen Loam
Softly fragrant rose
Snow
Whiskey
Books
Tea
Freshly chopped wood
A warm fire in a stone hearth (especially in the cold of a mountain winter)
Apples and Apricots
Paints

And some other things but my list is already long...

To whom it may concerned,

The baby grows stronger. She smiles now and foul smelling fluids find their way out of her less often. Her howling though when she is hungry or tired only grows louder as her body expands.

Yesterday she threw a whale bone toy out of the cradle in her flailing and it hit the nurse in the head. I am sure it was quite by accident and while I quietly tsked at her that dainty ladies should not throw things, I cannot help but think that her Thrax Aunts would approve.

There will be a quiet child in my future, I have no doubt, but this one is not that one. This one is a tempest, a wild thing, a little bit of the frozen, northern sea broken off and crashing into my household.

Fine. So be it.

I like the smells of pine, cedar, crushed mint, freshly tilled soil, and citrus with clove and cardamom.

I must say that I am quite impressed. I've already received a number of contributions of prizes for this little game Pravus is planning, and every one of them is glorious. I've promises for others from some of Arx's best craftsmen, and I admit I am actually excited to see what it is we will be provided with.

These prizes will certainly make participation worth it.

I have a working theory: the amount someone feels the need to remind you of just how much they respect you is about roughly equal to the amount of contempt they actually feel.

Relationship Note on Aiden

I'm glad you're quite happy with each other, and I have no doubt she will make an excellent guard dog.

I have a feeling Dash won't be winning the wrestling matches for much longer.
