I'm waiting for the official shiny badge of office or announcement or something but I'm going to write this here.
Being the new head of a guild AND a ministry division means I have to watch what I fucking say in public now. Which sucks.
People don't seem to understand why I dislike authority and yet, I belong to a house known for military discipline and my own fierce adhesion to order and duty.
I like people who are doing what they're doing because they are qualified. Service in Southport is mandatory and no-one shows up in a position unless they deserve it. The noble family gets placed where they do the most good, plus the fact we have it trained into us even younger than our own population means we get commands and postings and rarely serve as rank and file. We can do more than that.
But I give respect where it's due, and I don't respect many who haven't rose through their ranks or done their time in service to earn that post.
So this is -going to be hard- but I'm an adult and the health and welfare of the Compact now depends on me. More than my lads and ladies.

Today I have discovered I am a natural at a certain Valardin sport we all agree needs to be renamed. I was surprised and delighted that this activity proved to be quite instinctual. The body seems to know what it must do. I found the afternoon if brief to be most satisfying. It is a welcome delight in the afternoon to break up the hustle and bustle of the day.

The Isles have been home to many horrors for all of their existence. My predecessor was a man who held the reins of many of them in his hands as they went by. Change does not come easy and this is a brave change to offer, with his proclamations Prince Abbas sets a new boundary. It may take some time but the other Houses of Thrax may some day follow suit and also adjust their stances on the use of disease and flayings. Until then many will have their eyes on the Thrax Military lead by the Reaver Prince to show if these changes are worthwhile.
And perhaps eventually flayings will become a thing of the past for non-military matters. Arvum will have to keep praying until then.

On this day, the Thraxian military decreed that it shall end all flaying as capital punishment. It has decreed that the practice of flaying as an act of punishment shall be considered a military offense and punished accordingly. It has also decreed that it shall follow the common will of Arvum and cease to use disease for the purpose of war, forever banning its application.
Long and fervently, I have prayed to Our Lady of Change that such a change as these proclamations would come.
Today, blessed Lagoma has made her presence known, and I rejoice. Deeply, I am grateful, and I acknowledge the divinity in the decisions House Thrax has made. Whatever proper balm finally applied in proper measure to bring this about, I am immensely grateful.

I received an award. I did not expect that. But I'll cherish it though. As I will the memories of all those that were at the siege. It's a funny thing, rewards. I like them, they are to be symbols of respect and honor that you earn to prove deed, and in the gaze of the Gods, such as Gloria and others, that is noble. Still, I can't help but feel a sadness when I look at each one. They also serve as reminders of what you did for others at times, but sometimes I wish I could do more. Wars happen though, and people must be willing to fight in them.
