If there are words that may soothe the tragedy of what befell those at the Shrine of Mangata and at the harbor, the best ones I know are these: the Mercies of Lagoma shall continue to offer whatever succor is within our means to all who are in need, and shall continue to work in tandem with the Ministry of Health to ensure such. Our hearts and hands go out to you.

In agreement with Lady Eirene Malvici, the Crown Minister of Health, any and all exposed to the ichor are to be brought to the House of Solace, where they will be under the watchful care of Our Lady of Change and the healers who serve Her.

Preliminary examinations lead us to believe that all are expected to make a full recovery. To make certain, however, a 48-hour period of quarantine has been implemented, for the health and well-being of the general populace is no less of a concern.

May the Gods bless and keep us all.

In Faith and service,
Princess Sophie Valardin, the Mother of Mercy

Well that happened. I am quite thankful that I have enough in writs to look to commission replacement ships to cover the losses.

House Grayson sends its sympathies to the noble houses affected by this disaster and announce our willingness to contribute and aid in what ever capacity is possible for us. You only need to write to the High Lady of the Bastion or any of the other voices, myself humbly included. Strength in unity.

As the Voice of Minister of Loyalty of my House I have always been a proud man about my heritage. I have always taken pride on the words "None greater than Grayson" and I have always told younger members of my House that no matter what happens, the House must remain in its rightful place. It is now the turn of House Thrax to apply that strong personality of theirs. In crisis, to build stronger.

With respect and a sorrowful heart,

His Highness, Calarian Grayson, Prince of the Bastion,
Voice and Minister of Loyalty of House Grayson,
First Observer of the Crown Observers

Merely. You have sent me a dead fish. Thank you. I assume that this is some kind of Mangatan blessing.

I mean ... what.

A common misconception of Islanders, members of the Thraxian fealty, is that if we have our ships and our sails taken away, that we're nothing. Simply angry people with a drinking problem and a penchant for salt. Those who do know myself, my family, those of all Thrax, know this to be as far from the truth as it can be.

Someone or something tried to take our sails away today. Unfortunately many men and women I knew personally died because of it. Sure, I can harangue and bombast until the sun comes up, but I won't. I don't have to. I don't need to.

I know, that my fealty doesn't need their ships to remain strong after a heavy blow. I know that we can accomplish a great deal without the winds filling our sails. And I know that our ships aren't the only thing that Thrax people have in common.

Take our ships.

Take our sails.

Good luck trying to take the salt from our veins.

It's not that I don't appreciate the feeling behind the sentiment, or the point of making it, it's just that I think maybe now isn't the greatest time to start setting terms like 'while any warrior of such and such place lives' and so on when making threats against unknown entities that just drowned a few hundred people in under five minutes.

As for what happened, what else can be said that won't be said in a thousand other journals? I didn't witness it, so I don't have my own account. It happened, read it from those who saw for themselves. And if you're willing to believe that every single Thraxian ship--and only Thraxian ships--sinking at the exact same time and taking most of their crews down with them in the middle of the day is a completely ordinary coincidence that can be entirely explained away by 'bad cargo', then I think you're an impossible idiot and you probably think I'm a mad fool, so hearty congratulations to us both.

I can finally say it aloud. I'm so excited to join you and your family. I hope to do you and them the honor I have come to learn is so valued in and among Oathlanders. I will be proud to call you husband and to strengthen the military, and trade relations between Sanctum and Southport.

We have been wounded before, and endured. Foul sorceries have felled valiant men before, yet we do not falter. We do not weep for the lost, for we are Grim; rather we steel ourselves toward vengeance, toward victory.

We mortal men, arrayed against foes out of legend, we shall teach the legends to fear us. For while any warrior of the Isles draws breath, no foe can rest easy.

We bleed, we mend, we fight on.
We do not fear, for fear is the guardian of hate.

So speaks Grimhall.

I have no answers and a lot of questions but for now we focus, as we have every conflict, we focus and we get it done. To those lost, I swear to you... We will give you justice. To those still here, thrall, commoner, lords, and princes - grab your hammers and grab your nails. Once we are done; grab your shields and spear.

I was able to attend the knighting of Dame Morrighan. Not that I would have missed it for the world! I heard mention of it shortly after my return and was just so /glad/ for her. From what I heard tonight, it was deserved and more. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, performed by Princess Freja, and I was truly honored to bear witness to it. Catching up with my newly knighted friend, Princess Freja, and even Prince Fergus was wonderful, too. I am fortunate, indeed, to call them all friends and hope they know I am a steadfast one to each of them as well.

And oh, drinks to discuss knightly balls very soon is an absolute /must/.

My heart goes out to House Thrax for what they endured today. The loss of life and livelihoods was horrific. I will not cry for them, but I do offer them all the aid House Keaton can provide. If I have not yet reached out to you and you need aid, please reach out to me. I have medicines, my own skills at healing and a great deal of lumber.

It has been some time since I've written much of anything in my journal, but the events of today have prompted me to at least scribble in something. I have humble, common beginnings, as many close to me know. Nothing in life is meant to be easy, not if it matters and is worth something, and it's the same with the path we are meant to take in life. It has been many years since Redrain took me in, an abandoned without a tribe, and it is to them that I owe everything. It was Prince Sherrod that gave me something worthwhile. My life. A new start. I swore oaths back then when I bent the knee, and today I have done the same, renewing them. I did not rise as a servant - but a knight. Everything is the same now as it has been since I swore my loyalty to Redrain, all those years ago. They are my tribe, the closest thing to family I've ever known, and I will defend them with the ferocity akin to a mother bear protecting her cub. I am their sword and their shield. I will protect them and fight along side them. Their enemies are mine, and for those that bring harm, they will find no mercy. Being knighted is the greatest honor I could ever receive, and words can't express how thankful I am to the Redrain family for everything they've given me. From now until I take my last breath, I will guard and watch over them.

To the Last.
~ Dame Morrighan, Knight of Farhaven

Ianthe,

You left me to die for us, for the city, but mostly, for those that loved you. You were a daughter of the Gyre, my sweet little sister, plagued by such dreams that would chase you into my room when you were small, you would wrap around my neck until I could sing you back to sleep. Such terrors you cried over, so many tears. You were certain you saw your death and I always hushed you and told you it would be alright.

I knew when the boxes arrived after your departure that you didn't intend to come back. Zhayla knew it too. Things change, others were involved, and now-

In the bottom of my sorrowful heart is one question that I think no one can answer:

Did you die for nothing?

Churn and turn in the widening Gyre -
It all falls apart, the center will not hold.
One singer cannot hear the choir.
The dark tides are loosened,
The rituals; the forgotten affliction.
The serpents that lacked all conviction,
save to snap and sink venom tipp'd fang
into itself - and ruined.
