Relationship Note on Anze

Another cousin, sibling to Freja and Fergus. That great big sword of his hits exactly as you would expect a great big sword to hit ... when he can catch you with it, of course.

It is nice to be surrounded by family, especially so far from home.

There is an organized chaos that surrounds our city. Everything is color coded and cut up into nice equal pieces for nobles to share among themselves. Layers fit on top and below. Some times bleeding into or out of this pieces. The Merciers have had the fortune of being on the right side of trade and I can honestly say that I am very proud of all the work we have put into enriching our family status and wealth. An increase in revenue will help us meet the high demands our clients expect from us. With the warehouse we are able to move more goods. The garden lets us manufacture here in the city. A tea shop will be raised in the coming days for us to sell our tea and soon after we have a suitable place for a workshop we will put one up and provide employment to allot of commoners. The Merciers are prove that success is measured with dedication and you can rise to glory no matter your station in life. Bless Gild's fortune.

I have no idea how this happened.

I had no reason to believe Princess Isolde when she said that Lady Cara was not going to be in the delegation to the Nox'alfar; Cara had her assurances from Dawn, and I certainly hold more faith in her than the princess. And yet now I find that somehow my words from weeks -- or months! -- ago are somehow responsible for Cara no longer being among the party. Cara is furious. Dawn is now furious that I'm endangering myself by being among the party myself. The only reason I'm in the fucking party is to take care of my sister! And yet Dawn got even /more/ angry when I pointed out it's only her fault for not telling me Cara wasn't going.

Everyone is angry at me and none of this is my fault! And now I'm stuck on this stupid fucking delegation. They'll all be pretty sorry when I get eaten by demons.

Well, the melee happened. I was one of the first to go down, but only because five of my competitors saw fit to target me at once.

Really, I should take it as a compliment.

The Sword is being disingenuous. I never said I expected him to restrain the predatory nature of his pet, only that he not contrive to -help- the creature kill my fox. There is a difference.

A good man to bump into and shove into a fight, and a great wall to relieve tension against. Doesn't say stupid things like 'you're a woman' or 'you're not as well armored' or 'your dick is too small'.

Have to appreciate that.

Had a very interesting walk atop the SeaWatch walls. The view is as incredible as always. But to have company and able to listen to a story touching upon the Golden Guard and their Lord, made it even better. At this rate, I may even conquer this fear of heights.

A poet. A poet that now lives within the estate. So long as he's not bunking with me I'll find a way to make do. If he recites poetry over breakfast I might not be so amicable.

Apparently I'm not allowed to let Hiss kill her fox. Since when did I shoulder the burden of telling natural predators what they can and can't do? Pray for me, scholars. This is one task I think I cannot accomplish.

Quick but not quick enough. She has a habit of taking me on despite the "unfairness" of combat. It's a trait I can admire. There's nothing fair about fighting to the death so why should there be when training for it?

It's quite amazing how fun a trip to the Managerie can be. Especially if Sophie is along, as she is quite relaxing company.

The ursine exhibit, and the lemurs, were especially amusing. But they really need food vendors in there somewhere.

I think I need to speak to the Archlector and Archscholar. Aside from anything else, the latest proclamation of the Dominus would make the timing fortuitous.

I've had in mind for some time to create an order devoted to Petrichor. The city relies on hunters for their meat, and none of the nobility I've shared meals with have given him any thanks, nor have they thanked for hospitality on entering another's lands. I understand that to them, food simply occurs; but the love of hunting is one of Petrichor's gifts, and we must foster it. I had it in mind to create a lodge closer to the forests, of skilled hunters and riders. That such would be of use on the roads, as well, or as scouts for war, should only make it more useful in gathering support. I must, though, find those who would willingly join such an endeavour, not only for themselves, but to honor he who gave us dominion.

On an unrelated note, it seems Blanciber is getting better and better at making my family's scotch. They just sent three crates of the newest 12 year old batch.

I haven't had a chance to crack one open yet, but I'm thinking of passing some bottles around as gifts. Everyone loves scotch. Especially mine.

Relationship Note on Deva

I've known this particular Redrain for longer than any other in this mad city. Of course, -clearly- she's my sister, rather than the woman that looks more like me. But, royal foibles aside, I've gotten to know her more during the chaos of our lives lately, and I find her... so utterly different from me in every way, and I love her for it. One day, we'll find that middle place where we share common ground, outside of our love for her brother, and... well, it would sound wretchedly sappy to say I will call her sister in truth, she's definitely someone I will count within my inner circle of friends.

Sapphire. Stealthed in plain sight. Don't forget.

Relationship Note on Niamh

Niamh Greenmarch, the Sword of Greenmarch. She is cut from the same cloth as her cousin Princess Marian and she is a stark reminder that despite all our differences with the prodigal house, we are alike in the ways that matter. She seems possessed of a sincere desire to leave the world a better place than it was when she found it. I believe she can, and I hope she continues to remind us that the differences we wear on our sleeves mean nothing in the light of the honor we hold in our hearts.

Relationship Note on Leona

Lord Commander Leona has a great burden to bear. When I saw her again recently she was pleasant and friendly but I could see that it weighs on her. I understand how that feels. My uncle cast a long shadow and his loss feels as if it is impossible to fill. But my uncle was more than just the greatest knight of his age. He was also one of the wisest. He believed in her to succeed him, and because of this, so do I.
