I have finished it! My first, short novel, about a lonely girl and the haunted mirror. Also three murders, one suicide, two imprisonments, and one incident 'too scandalous to specify outside the Lyceum.'

In traders tavern, raucous and loud,
The nobles did enjoy and consume,
The freemen were not quite bowed,
Yet t’was still not a royals tea room.
The cold spring evening was daft and draft,
The conversation spinning, quite cheerfully so,
Princesses and Lords and makers of craft,
All locked in the verbal riverine rapidical flow.
Discussion of dogs and houses and daring do,
Topics ranging from family to politics sprightly,
Carpenters, sailors skulking, sipping their brew,
While young nobles pranced about so knightly.

Another day, another opportunity to put my foot in my mouth. I don't know how I am going to survive the week, let alone the summer here.
In my head, it all worked out so well, so much better than the reality. I played it out over and over on the cold nights travelling here. How I'd set up my own little shop, supply lots of dignified people with weapons, mass a fortune, and send it home to pa so he can retire and live a comfortable life. But life just doesn't quite work out like that.
I should meet up with Joscelin Arterius, perhaps she can offer some much needed sagely advice to this inept traveller.

I received a gift today that is meaningful to me. I find that in abscence it helps but it is no substitute for the actual physical presence. I'm not the whining sentimental sort. In fact, I would say I'm mercurial at best and my moods are fleeting and diverse. Lately I've grown more accustomed to Arx and not living my life as if I am reaving upon the Salt. It's been a slow adjustments but one I'm growing more accustomed to as the seasons turn.

I cannot say for sure that I'm glad to be back in the city, but I am back and it is somehow a relief. It worries me while I'm away to think my family needs protecting from something of which I do not yet know how to protect them.

Relationship Note on Anze
Anze is the brother of Fergus and Freja.I haven't had much of a chance to speak to him, but he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. A damned good fighter, from what I've been told by peers. The few times we've crossed paths, he's kept me in good spirits with humorous quips. Sometimes he's incredibly insightful when I least expected it, too.

I have recently began my service with the Sovereign's Own Royal Guard, or King's Own more commonly. The Lord Commander seems to be a strong warrior. She strikes me more as the sort of individual who doesn't wish to be bogged down by scrolls, conversations, and niceties. She wants to be in battle, doing her duty, and being where steel meets steel. Talking about possibilities seems to only give her some cause for either frustration or anxiousness, I can not tell.
The Lady Regent also paid a visit. She seems to be a very optimistic sort. She's brought news to the tower, as well as made it clear that she supports our mandate and wishes to work with us. It is likely why she is the Regent and I am not. I also do not smile nearly as often as she.

A dark red bird perches on a flowered branch, its feathers puffed up, its dark eyes half-closed. The branch is a riot of color, a highly unrealistic riot of color in fact. Have there ever been yellow, white, cyan, lilac, orange, magenta flowers all on one branch, nearly crowding out the fresh green leaves of spring? You can hardly see the bird itself for all the flora. Bird looks cozy, though.

Tried to sent a message to Felix the smith but I had to take a shit. Probably wrote a mess the man can not understand. I will find him in person and see about getting a weapon. Bank had a couple silvers from some thing the family had me signed a bunch of years ago. I took those silvers to Eithne and order a steel armor. She has a nice shop.
