Relationship Note on Joscelin
For those who may read that as some sort of indictment of my cousin, beware that you do not wag your tongues. It is not.
As for Joscelin, though, she seems to be good friends with both Ida and Acacia, and in my estimation this makes her quality folk, even if I fear that she may herself come off as rather flighty.

Relationship Note on Fergus
He told me an amusing story about Larissa Whisper, how she got offended when he complimented her body and started to bash the Northlands. You'd think a woman keen on learning how to seduce northern men would understand that "bend over a bed" is good.
Much better than clinging to a northerner. They aren't the best clingers, but they do know how to work a bed.
I like him. I think I'll be keeping Fergus in my retinue of friends.

I first noticed him at the tournament, really, fighting among the others despite his team being slightly outnumbered and doing a rather impressive showing of it. He has some rather fascinating hobbies that certainly warrant notice.

Later in the week, Lord Prospero asked me to accompany him and Princess Jaenelle to look for some manner of evidence to exonerate a client of his of violence in the commoners' cemetery, and by some ill fortune we did stumble upon it in the form of an thoroughly mad homeless brute. Or one might assume he was homeless, for how dirty he was, gristled and wearing little that was not threadbare, absent even shoes on his feet. I was too late hearing the sling to prevent Lord Prospero from being struck, and my attempts to subdue the man for proper trial were not successful. He had no mind to stand down, even after taking his fingers so he could no longer hold his make-shift club. Uncertain of the nature of the attack at the time, whether there might be others to guard my wards from, I chose to end the man rather than risk either being hurt further.
I wish that I had known his name, to have it remembered here in these archives as I am certain none will mourn or notice his absence from the world, but this will have to do. Even the lowest of men deserve something of memory for their deaths.

What we discussed was between us, but I must confess to being incredibly charmed by him. I've been told of his scars and his appearance, and .... I have to say, it makes him appear quite dashing.
I do accept, however, that my taste in aesthetics is strange and unusual and often weird, even in the things I create. I'm quite alright with this.
And ... I think he was flirting? Or perhaps just being friendly.
Also the man commands language like-

I dislike his fondness for clobbering me in the head. I had a headache all morning!
Lady Dawn sent me a message thanking me for my presence at the Grayson gathering the other night, and for offering her my advice. She gifted me an elegant oathlands sword - one of similar design to the one Prince Fergus wielded against me. I'm not quite sure what to do with it yet! But if I should ever be in need of two, I will have little to worry about.
I'm not sure what lies ahead, but I will do what I can to help her through it.

And? He barely flinched when Mistress Joscelin came in to steal my hammer and, just as abruptly, left. Points for that, certainly.

When Alaric awakens, perhaps I'll return there.
But for now, I am here and content. We might differ in opinion but the care and respect we all hold for each other was very much on display when we met. My family and their supporters have again proven our words true: None Greater Than Grayson.
Another happy piece of news. I had to leave Bastion in a rush and with it, my poor faithful hound Macdon. But my kennelmaster knew I would suffer without the diversion of the packs to provide (very loud) moments away from my work. He loaded the best bitches and dogs, including my Macdon, and has brought them here where another kennel will be established at the mansion.
I am not too proud to record here for the public eye that when Macdon saw me, he was so excited that he forgot himself and knocked me to the ground where I was stepped on, whipped with his tail and subjected to rabid licking that left my face and hair covered with drool. I remember when he was whelped, I could hold him in my hands. Now, while I was away from him, he has reached his full growth and he rises taller than me when his paws are on my shoulders. I am not a small woman but my fierce, scruffy hound makes me feel so. Especially when he tries to curl in my lap as he used to do while still a puppy.
I can be truly fearless with Macdon at my side again. Though also slightly more bedraggled.

Still, I think about how would my life have been if I had settled for the humble profession of a barber. I wonder if I stuck with brewing my own potions, perfumes, and cologne if that would have been my true path. Maybe I should look into it.

I am hesitant to describe the events themselves, however. There are many layers to things that happened, as well there might be with so many ambitious personages in company. The most important, of course, was that there was good food and wine to sate the appetites of the hungry, and there was just a little bit of intrigue to sate the appetites of the ludicrous.
I fear, however, that the rabid loyalty to our dear Lady Dawn displayed by those present will become a detriment overlong if we do not see some signs of action to back up those words.
Time will tell, I suppose. Though I don't doubt that those words have been the death of many a patient man.

When I left the manor I was accosted by a messenger with another large order for my shop. This one seems like it will be fun, though, much like Prince Edain's beloved table. Enough details to give me a direction on where to go, but enough leeway to express my own creativity. Challenge accepted.
