The excursion to examine the area where Graham and his men were slain, could have gone better. Yes, it is plausible to say that it could have gone better. Of course, it could also have gone worse. Far worse. I have only heard second-hand accounts of creatures tainted by the Abyss until now, but today I have seen them for myself. Lady Eirene Riven's presence amongst those of our party was a blessing indeed, and her experience and knowledge once evidence came to light of what we might be facing was invaluable. Her bravery in putting herself between the bears and others of our party, myself included, was humbling, as was the courage shown by Lady Thea, Lady Scythia, Princess Denica and my lady cousin Kaia.
I saw things today that I had never seen before, nor would wish to again. I am certain that I will, however, since Cedar Vale will not heal itself.

An unplanned trip north was just the thing I needed! To breathe that sweet air and meanwhile miss the stuffy closeness of another Arxian summer, ah, was pure bliss. And now I am back just in time for the chill of an approaching winter... I could not have planned it better if I tried!

I traveled to Cedar Vale with Countess Lyra and others. I have a feeling things are definitely not what they appear and we need to be careful. Also, no one can't say my aunt and Denica can't take a hit. They're both in the hospital wanting booze.

I think she has gained the respect of everyone in my home! She saved me from falling to my death! And Felix! She's like a cat, honest scholar! I think Sten would marry her if he could! He had the EYES. Oh, you saw I said home. Yep. I went home for a bit. To see our mines. It was so nice of people to explore them with us. Hopefully we discover what exactly what it is. This should be hardly surprising, but the thought of composing new laws is a thrilling one. It would be best to restrain the impulse. Gardening is best done with a light touch, after all.

Relationship Note on Quenia
No dying allowed. Igniseri needs Marquessa Quenia. While it is understandable needing to know just what sort of pirate problems Zeb and Ariella handle, when you go out to see for yourself, please be careful. When I saw Quenia fall, saw her get wounded....there are no words for the fear, concern and anger felt for my friend, my cousin, my ally.

Initial enquiries into Graham's death have yielded little beyond what was already known, but information has recently been received of a particularly aggressive tribe of Shav'arvani that are harrying one of the villages. Whilst the theft of sheep and murderous threats don't quite equate to the slaughter of a hundred strong patrol, it is the only lead we currently have.
We shall start there.

I have a new obsession. I want to make weapons with random materials! Some time back, I had an unfortunate encounter with a giant snake. Well, I am still here, so obviously the giant snake died. Not because of me, mind you! Because of friends who killed it before it killed me! Anyways, I took it's fangs. Using alaricite as a strong base and core for the weapon, I fashioned the fangs into a blade. It turned out wonderous! I am quite proud of this creation. Now, I want to travel the lands in search of new ores and new materials to make more weapons.

I really enjoyed Lady Mabelle's event. The Honey Festival was just fun all around! I really needed the positivity. It was refreshing as much in my life is kind of dour of late. The festival helped me feel a bit rejuvenated in spirit. Thank you Lady Mabelle Laurent!

I still don't know how I managed to go two years in the city without attending one of Lady Mabelle's events. It wasn't something I was avoiding! Circumstances just always seemed to prevent me from being able to go. I learned today that that was a shame, and the situation has finally been rectified. The Honey Festival at the Laurent estate was magnificent! The food and drink were delicious and filling, the company was of the highest quality, and the games. Well, I didn't embarrass myself too terribly. I even won a prize!
I've been lucky enough to convince the lady of the merit of some of my projects, and her expertise is a boon to me as I navigate these new challenges. And now I see that I need to make a greater effort to clear my schedule whenever she hosts a party! We all deserve to take a break and enjoy ourselves from time to time.

Went pirate hunting. Ow. Nearly died. Everything hurts. Ow. Managed to capture some. And, their ship. Nebulosa seems keen to interrogate them and I'm inclined to let her. Everyone along for the hunt did superb work.

I could drown you in proverbs in oh-so insightful quips that I've learned in my years of being a soldier and knight. Too many years.
