The most recent Assembly of Peers was quite enjoyable. There was excellent company in the Redrain section, including my recently returned brother. There were many good tidings from around the realm, as well as reflection and honorable recognitions for our fallen Marquis Cirroch Sanna. Elevations as well, which often make me proud to be part of a peerage that works so hard to better their holdings and the lives of their people. I don't believe any Assembly could lack differentiating views, but such were discussed without too much turmoil. The economic inquiry put before the Crown of course intrigues me, and we shall see what comes of that. All in all, it was an excellent gathering and I am glad I was able to slip away from the ledgers to attend.

Change. The most exiting, dangerous and rewarding event we can participate in this life. We're free to choose but we should be responsible and wise when making that choice. Traditions are earned by repeating what our forbears did so we don't have to repeat their mistakes and we should always be thankful for the paths those who came before us on this journey up the mountain of life blazed, but that doesn't make traditions ironclad or immutable. There will be a time when you can only go so far with the path of our ancestors and then you'll be faced with either holding back where the trail ends, or striking out in unknown territory so humanity at large can grow.
You'll stumble. You might get a tad lost. The gods are there to help guide you, to be a light when you're making your way through dark woods and so when you get to that mountaintop, you'll shine brightly for so many more to follow behind you.
One day, the new changes you make can become traditions. And one day, someone else will be challenged to try and improve on what gifts you've given them with those traditions.
Pray, contemplate but by all means, act.

It should be a great time. I'll bring the wine.

So happy to have opened the new Arx headquarters for the Suspires!
I'd almost consider the work done... but when I look around at our lovely new building, I realize the work has only just begun! Now we are to have classes and events and meetings so the space can be filled with song, and dance, and art!

So, that was another an Assembly of Peers. It's almost enough for me to wish I could drink.

I've heard that there was an Assembly of Peers! I've never been to one, so it's truly a pity that I've missed the first one held since I've been back in the city. There's always next time and I look forward to the opportunity to see the Great Leaders of the realm share their words and ideas for the betterment of the Compact.
I'm already excited for that next opportunity! I bet I'll be early enough to get the best seat in the house, right next to the sovereign!

I'm learning that sometimes what's best for you isn't going to be agreed upon by everyone. And you know, that's fine. I have a steel back.

New ruins scouted! Not that it was anything to shake the foundations of the realm, but we scouted an old keep and found a journal. Poison Ivy, too, but I managed to steer clear of that! Had to scale a wall and do a couple of other athletic things, so my explorer training seems to be paying off. I am hoping to participate in more such trips soon, allowing me so field experience that will help as I build my additions to the Faith's history.

A special thanks to the Malere brothers, as they kept our stores lined for this winter. Between what they gave us and our own garden haul, the children are getting quite chunky. Thankfully for them, they are naturally tempered to the cold weather, and we play outside when we have a chance. But they are so adorable with all their baby fat.

My childhood belief that there was a huge fish lurking in the river by Oakhaven maybe wasn't so ridiculous after all. That I never saw it, was only because I mistakenly tried to feed it cabbages. Apparently "Dusky" much prefers turnips. If only I'd known. I might not have dumped all of those heads of cabbage into the water and subsequently, have spared myself the resulting punishment. It was severe.

Tradition. I am going to rant about this thing people call tradition. I feel 'tradition' is a double-edged sword. There are good traditions like yearly holidays or the fisherman who only fishes at a certain spot. These are fun, good traditions. However, some people go so far to honor traditions that they loose sight of the big picture. Like.. Thralldom. It was a huge tradition for Thraxians! I am sure originally it was an idea of, 'Hey! Instead of killing all these jerks, let's make them work!' However, we all know how that particular tradition turned out. There are so many other traditions too. So many traditions keep people in ignorance. It's time to break free from 'traditions' that bind us and grow as a people.
