Just this evening, I had the urge to eat an entire cake. Perhaps it was inspired by the chill of winter? I *have* been pushing myself since my return to the city...
... and I was gifted a basket of cookies the other day. It would be rude if I didn't sample them.

I shall erect a monument to this moment, featuring our Sword. All who make landfall there know and remember the balance of things. ..now I just need to get my hands on some sharks. Just using fish and making them really big won't have quite the same effect.

It is an unsettling thing to accept the bleak reality of one's own situation. As naught can be done about it, I must carry on.

The winter is the deadliest season. The chill comes without warning, ready to kill. It tests the strongest of us in ways we cannot fathom. Those who survive the cold may return, but the question is what they have lost to persevere. But those who can withstanding its full force understand all too well the important things in life. And a lover's hot mouth on one's skin after coming in from a blizzard brings the deepest of deaths.
I delight in the winter.

There was a lot of fun, a slow acclimation to a new title, an interesting and unexpected invitation, an illuminating discussion, a deal struck, several creative endeavors worked on, time spent with friends (new and old), and a little bit of pain suffered. It does sting when you realize just how far on the fringes of everything you've been as you chased your dreams straight into the weeds. There's joy to be found however, in discovering far flung and forgotten rhubarb patches no one else would see fit to seek out. It's a consolation.
Chin up! You've got rhubarb! Go home and make a pie of it, and share it with your fellow fringe dwellers. Of course, it's horribly sour. Just add some sugar. Where is this analogy even going? I don't know. Rhubarb isn't in season. Substitute with turnip, I guess?
Let's just return to my original assertion. It was an interesting week. I hope yours was too, or this next one will be if it wasn't.

Today I am green.
Yesterday I was red.
Tomorrow, it's the whole rainbow.

For example, who is more dangerous? The person with nothing left to lose or the person with everything to lose? I say it depends on the person and the circumstances.
If you don't see the whole picture it's hard to tell if you're looking at a fur rug or a live bear.
