Having an existential threat about to consume one's homeland doesn't make you special.

It just makes you Arvani.

As Thrax strives to become closer united to the Compact, those who don't wish to share a Compact with Thrax slowly come out of the cracks. It's a damn shame when I of all people have to shake my head at someone's close-minded nature. At the very least those who make the decisions that actually fucking matter don't share the same lack of inclusiveness for an Ally and lack of compassion for a people that struggle to find their lost roots.

Whatever the fuck they want to say in the shadows doesn't concern me. Thrax won't stray, and it won't stop helping its people find their proper path while we have a Herald ready to swallow our homelands.

To end this entry with a bit less of my own prattling, the reformations of Thralldom are steadily beginning to trickle through the paperwork. Eyes on the future boys, it's a good one.

I share you distaste for bright colors and fancy parties designed to be 'fun', but really are just the epitome of social dick-waving. Even for the ones that lack a dick you can find plenty of waving happening.

So do what I do, think toward your positives:

Free food
Free booze
Free entertainment
Freedom to leave when things get boring.

And the rest, I have zero grasp on why anyone enjoys these things. I merely assume we're cut from a different species and leave it at that. Anything more makes my fucking head hurt. I'll stick to sharpening the axe and grunting like a fucking dog.

I don't know why there are people in the Templars who think they have the authority to investigate criminal matters of any sort on their own. Criminal and magical matters are the jurisdiction of the Inquisition, not any member of the Faith, unless the Crown says otherwise.

Pretty sure I haven't missed any directives saying otherwise from the Crown, so spreading misinformation on this subject in the archive does no one any favors.

I had an enjoyable time at the auction held by Saedrus Whisper at the Grotto's garden. I won a shield, the best piece there, in my estimation. I already have ideas where it will go in Whitefrost.

Before we journey north, I took a voyage home to the isles outside Southport. Oh how I missed real weather - perfect sun, sea breezes, clear blue waters...

We met a siren there. Asked her to nicely not sink our ships or drown our men. But oh...

I make no excuses or hide my attraction to men and woman alike. I'm Lycene- why would I deny myself the beauty and pleasure offered by half the world? But this creature, despite her animal nature, was beauty incarnate. Her song promised everything I'd ever wanted - pleasure, pain, desire, passion, lust, affection, admiration. I could have listened for hours and stood entranced and enthralled.

Even her speaking voice was unearthly melody made into words. But the negotiations went smoothly and our ships will be safe for now. She can't help being what she is, and if some damn fool gets too close then it's their own fault for not heeding the harbormaster's warnings.

I'll hear that song in my quiet moments, as I drift to sleep, as I die. Perhaps I'll hear it one more time before that happens.

Alas, poor Ratigan, we barely knew you.

Better you than some poor sailor.

At least it didn't eat the container vials. Eat. Transport. Magically vanish. Same result not matter what you call it.

Don't mind me, Scholar, just rambling aloud.

There seems to be some confusion in recent announcements still. People believe that because Father Orazio has stated the revisions to the Fourth Law of Limerance, that the Faith is forgoing its rights to investigate accusations around these things. The Faith has always taken investigation of breaches in these laws and the question of the use of magic seriously. Before their betrayal of the Faith to pursue secular power, it is what the Inquisition did. They however abandoned the Faith, and with it their duty to explore accusations of heresy and any right to speak on matters of the law of the Gods. We have never challenged their right to pursue secular justice however, to investigate chicken theft or other such crimes. But, on matters heretical, matters related to violations of the Gods' laws? That falls to the Faith, and with their abandonment of their duties all that time ago, that duty falls to the Templars. Items which claim descent or powers drawn from such things should be examined, their claims checked, any risk assessed, and that must be done by the Faith.

We in the Faith love the faithful. We love the King. We love those who always follow the path of the Gods. We love those who have strayed but found their way back. We love those who abandon their heresy and come to the light. We seek to protect those we love, that is natural is it not? And you can see it now. Hundreds of Templars march to the call of the Graysons, along with dozens more Knights of Solace, Mercies, The Lodge of Petrichor. We will not allow temporal politics to ever prevent that, and that is why we do not tell any how to rule their lands other than to ask them to rule them in the name and with respect to the Gods. But in turn, we will also not allow temporal powers to assume any of our rights and obligations. The gods must never be subjected to interference by any power - the subjugation of the Faith and its rights that occurred during Crownbreaker will be repeated only over the body and blood of every single Templar at my command.

For the most part I'll admit I think I have fun, it's just that my fun is not other peoples' fun, and so there we remain at an impasse. Nonetheless, I never go out of my way to avoid fun.

I'm sure it will be a lively party.

Relationship Note on Aleksei

I'm exploring the city and eventually find the grotto. And there, sprawled naked in one of the baths, is Aleksei. Well, that was one of the better finds of the day so I strip and join him, getting a drink from one of the servants wandering around. Have I mentioned how much I love this place? Beats jumping into a cold lake any day.

Anyway, we're talking and making plans for a tour of the city's taverns since I've only discovered a small number on my own so far and then he mentions he's an Archlector. Seriously? This handsome, naked man talking about drinking contests is an Archlector? I didn't know they were allowed to do that.

I guess the Faith isn't run by stuck up assholes like I thought. Though he is the Archlector of the wolf god so that might explain it.

I survived another trip to Everwinter. More importantly, Mason survived his first journey on a boat and being in cold wilderness, in spite of his many gripes and grumblings in Eurusi. We managed to get the prize we sought, and Lord Tarik now has a piece of his history with him again. I am glad to have been part of this journey, and to have helped toward progress in seeing Arx and all of Arvum a safer place. I can only hope that the others doing their part have been so fortunate.

I am not my mother. I am not my mother. I am not my mother. I have to keep reminding myself this. Every time Lucita brings up potential marriage prospects for myself, I feel my heart clench and sweat going down my back, and I back out of the conversation before she has a chance to blink. I mean, who is really going to want to marry someone whose mother's three different husbands all died mysterious deaths anyway? I never even got to know my father, he died before I was even born, and I was shipped off because my step-father died. It's something that haunts me more than I thought it ever would. It's just best for everyone that we focus on the other members of the family, and not myself. I just couldn't bear it if my mother's curse followed me.

I finally ran the gauntlet. The hurdles proved to be my undoing. But over all, I succeeded more than I failed. Next time hurdles, next time I will clear them all and then who will show who? I believe I am taking this a little personally. Regardless, it is good to know my ribs have quite recovered and I have something to improve upon.

May your hopes find safe harbors.

She asked me to the Spring Soiree for the only reason even remotely acceptable - her real options were all taken. If I can carve time from my schedule I will go, as I told her. And then the trap sprung - bright colors and mandatory fun?

I am trained in strategy and tactics.

I have a plan.
