There are many languages that all folk can speak.

Battle is one. Shared words help, but aren't needed, both object and discourse are very bloody clear, whatever tongues a body can speak.

Questions are subjective.

Answers never disappoint.

Still waiting on you - you - you. Also you. And you.

Not you - though I liked you.

We live in times of unprecedented expansion of dominion and civilization.

Our reach grows, and with it, the threats we face - but the Faith shall never stand against the true growth of the Compact. For the first time in generations, the nobility of Arvum have been striving to grow their holdings beyond what their ancestors were content to hold.

What I ask is that those of you who have been working so hard to expand your holdings, by conquest or by diplomacy, remember to give thanks to the grace of Petrichor and to the gifts of Gild. Keep faith strong in your hearts, and do honor to Limerance.

The armor has stood in the corner of my room for so many years I almost forgot it was there. Of course, given who it belonged to the Duke rarely uses it, and so instead it was a shade, hovering for over a decade, disappearing for short periods when necessary and then reassembled once more when it was no longer needed else where.

I almost expected when I pulled the gauntlet free, something horrible would happen, some uneducated part of my mind cleaving to childhood stories of the consequences of disturbing the dead, roaring up to try and stop me. He worked very hard to create that myth of fear.

Even once I pried it free, and the world didn't end it took sometime to make myself put my hand as I knew already what it would confirm. Not that it was heavy, or stiff or painful but because it was what I knew it would be: comfortable.

Relationship Note on Ophelia

Nothing? Not a single word?

I did not think you were this cruel. I did not think you were this heartless.

If this is how you wish to leave, don't bother returning. You have broken my heart.

You never know what you'll find hidden in twisty tunnels and dark caverns. Always bring a friend (or many) if you plan to go spelunking, and wear your armor. You could find a nest of bandits or worse.

Things I learned from this last outing:

1) My armor is very loud.
2) Patting someone awake is highly effective, but not an efficacious treatment for injuries.
3) Sometimes you just have to pick a direction and hope the gods are with you.
4) The best plan is often the least complicated one.
5) Never forget to bring water with you.

Have you ever seen the tiny dancers leap across their platform of beauty to join you upon your body where every step they take is a painful little bite, with a face full of eels?

Their little honeysilk ribbons lashing and flitting in the air, motions of poetry, demanding sacrifice to be given. They will change their color and whip and twirl your eyes into a dizzy spell. Giving them a larger stage only brings tall angry shouting lizards to your unpainted floors.

Floors are missing their colors, every new color to be added is swallowed up by the warm wet lick of a tongue never ending, being pushed down to the spot where they tried to drown you and love was declared for them to only stand upon your neck smiling, grinning, demanding praise worthy of who they were.

Long gone, though not out of mind. never out of minds...

There is a hole in my floor, smoke curling around the ceiling. Angry voices pounding at the steel. Let them try to breech, they will find nasty surprises hidden just for them...

Hello there my dancer, my love. Why do you bite at me? I was only trying to feed you...

Things are coming along nicely with renovations to The Redwake. Soon enough we should be getting underway with our expedition to new lands, hopefully. I have to thank Prince Raimon, he has been truly wonderful getting everything planned and ready for our trip.

I am volunteering for a scouting mission in the Three Rivers Area. While I am not a superb woodsman, I have a basic knowledge of the skills come from growing up in the country. I can avoid chopping my foot off when gathering firewood and I can actually make the fire with the wood gathered. I am not the clumsiest person I have met and I can navigate the woods without going in circles. The task will be to find a suitable place where an outpost for Faith troops might be raised, so it is not an endless exploration of unknown frontiers and I feel it might be good practice, education for skills that may be critical later. It will reinforce my application for Explorers and it will get me out into fresh air for a bit. Get some exercise. I am unsure whether I will qualify to be chosen, but I will find out.

Relationship Note on Ophelia

She has left now. She will hunt in other parts of the world, and I believe she will be happy and whole.

I will miss her. Princess Ophelia Velenosa was a partner, friend and a damn good patron.

Princess, if you ever get news of White journals in Arx, know that if you need me, I will come.

Well, at this point, Blessed Scholar, I might as well just finish it, since we've been here a minute . . .

"A Canticle for Cobalt"

Cobalt, born o' Lightning's wrath
set Koraj on his vengeful path
Against the Beast the depths yae hath,
betimes the tides of mourning.

Encaged the Beastly Deep was bound,
By sigils set 'pon holy ground,
as legions of the damned swarm'd round
unto the dawn of morning!

Against the need of future ages
weapons wrought by Will of mages
recorded in the tales of sages
buried with dire warning!

Pow'r to set the skies alight
Wi' concentrated fiery might
An' thund'ring blasts to crease the night
Ae Future's Hope aborning!

(( ooc: basically 80 percent of @clue 608, if anyone wants to follow up IC and get the rest! ))

A Mirror -shows- what one -receives-
is -just- what one sent -out-
The Truthful see, reflected: Truth
A doubter will see doubt.

We -can- hold onto grievances
that -doesn't- mean we -should-
Each Dark Reflection of the past
can -be- dispelled for Good.

Forgiveness is an urgent need:
It -wipes- our Mirrors -clean-!
Each surface cleansed of blood and bile
Re-gains its ancient sheen

Thereafter we are freed to see
The Truth that dwells within:
One Luminous, Eternal Flame
'Neath crumpled husks of skin.

And all who've Seen will strive to share
this Knowledge they have gained!
If each, Forgiven, thence Forgives ...
-All- hearts become unchained!

An Endlessly Turning Hourglass

The Tide rolls in, The Tide slips out,
Immutable, its flowing
Eroding and depositing:
The Sea is ever growing!

A nibble here, a small lick there,
She’s conquering the lands!
An artist’s capability:
The water’s gentle hands.

Perseverate: this movement seems
to leave it all unchanged.
But time is on Her side, you’ll see, as
Sea for sand’s exchanged!

A million years she’s laboured thus,
With patience firm and sure
This moment’s opus incomplete;
Her efforts will endure.

Wide skies will witness, when we pass -
Our next life won’t now know.
We rest assured that even then
Deep currents still will flow

For in the end She -did- give birth
to twins: both Life -and- Death
The narrow now, her slender waist
and all else in her breadth.

As thin as air, the hand that turns
Those sussurating sands
Such timeless thoughts elude the Mind --
But Spirit Understands

For Mangata, yet again:

The ocean is a restless Queen
Her whims in constant motion
Her endless whitecapped beauty draws
Vast wealth of true devotion

A-Storm one hour, calm the next,
She's always changing mien
But Her Depths hide a Sacred Calm
that's rather -felt- than seen

I -spent- all my -young- years in -Tor-
Which -sounds- like a bit of a -bore-.
All day we'd mock - fight . . .
(then sleep through the night)
A squire's staid life -- nothing more

Now, -Tor- is quite -famous- for -roses-
Which -most- folk enjoy with their -noses-
But a bout near a hedge

Could lead to -hilarious- poses

For in the first days of the spring

But -losing- could leave quite a -sting- . . .

The -Rose- garden -- height of true class
Has -hedges-, but -scarce- any -grass-
So if knockdowns occurred,

While pulling rose thorns from your ( , )

Relationship Note on Hadrian

It's not everyday that I get a real chance to both fully connect with someone on a philosophical level of understanding, as well as get a chance to let Verksa run to her hearts content. The ride along the outside of the city was something that I was unaware which I was missing. Usually its a run along the ridges of the March, holding a hand up to the setting sun to determine if we have additional time to get another cliff side in or if it's time to turn around. Either way Verksa is happiest when she's allowed to run.

Or simply to devour the pears that Oliver packs.

Finding a common ground with another is good these days.

I feel as if I barely left my office this entire week, except for a few brief and fleeting moments.

Ah yes, and the entire day that I kept forcing Alis to listen to me recite my historical findings.
